Enervation
Eurgh. Your little app thingy that you posted autoplays an ad when you load this page, Gerbil.
TheFlyingGerbil
sorry! It didn't have ads in the unembedded version in the link, at least for me. It is worth having a look at though, I promise!
deanb
It didn't have auto-play ads for me when you had it up.
TheMightyEthan
It didn't for me either.
Yantelope V2
Apparently Nolan Ryan was a snow monkey ambassador at some point. This is one of the most bizarre pieces of audio I've heard in quite some time. Apparently they're even going to have a snow monkey night and give away stuffed snow monkeys at a ball game this summer as a result of this audio. Enervation
sorry! It didn't have ads in the unembedded version in the link, at least for me. It is worth having a look at though, I promise! It gave me quite a scare when I loaded this page since the ad was at 200% volume. Really irritating. I'm just wondering how it got past the adblocker, but I don't think adblockers do flash. I appreciate you posting a link to it though. Thorgi Duke of Frisbee
You know your game is a smash success when images like this featuring your characters start popping up... TheFlyingGerbil
I could not think of a worse advert an eco-electric company could have come up with. There are so many positive things you could show for green power, even including regeneration of old power sites, but instead they're creating sympathy for the old power and making themselves seem evil in the process. Genius! Edited February 13, 2012 by TheFlyingGerbil
TheMightyEthan
Yeah, as a general rule you don't want to personify the thing that you're saying is bad.
Thursday Next
Awww, poor smoke stacks/cooling towers. They could at least have shown them being evil, belching noxious fumes into the air and all that jazz, also, I doubt that three little windmills would generate as much power. Also, what are the "Big Six"? Coal / Oil / Gas / Nuclear (maybe?) what else? Methane?
TheMightyEthan
Hydroelectric, maybe? I know a lot of environmental groups don't like hydroelectric because it damages river ecosystems.
Thursday Next
Well, they can cry me a river, which I will then dam up and use to generate more leccy.
TheMightyEthan
I think you just invented a perpetual motion machine.
TheFlyingGerbil
The big six are the suppliers, british gas, EdF etc. not the sources of power.
Yantelope V2
Green energy is not faring very well right now. I was actually trying to specify solyndra panels for a project when they died. Then the company who was selling us panels died too..... TheFlyingGerbil
I guess people start caring less about the environment and more about their wallets at times like this.
Yantelope V2
yeah, and the fact that solar panels never actually pay for themselves doesn't help much either.
TheFlyingGerbil
do you get subsidies in the US? They just changed how it works here, but until now you were guaranteed to make money out of them as the government paid a premium for the electricity they generated. It lead to a lot of companies that would pay for and install them free in your home , you'd get the free electricity, and they have the prpofits of any that was fed back into the grid. Not sure how it works now but there is definitely no guarantee you'll make your money back now.
TheMightyEthan
There are energy-efficiency tax incentives, but I'm pretty sure it's just a one-time deduction and not an ongoing thing. That said, I'm not a tax expert and I'm not 100% sure how it actually works.
