deanb
So this one is in a bit of both on the Weird n the Wonderful. Though not so wonderful for some involved. Basically two sets of twins were accidentally mixed up at birth, with one set growing up in the rural farm life n the other having the city life. Obviously the rural farm lot aren't too pleased. Long article: http://www.nytimes.com/2015/07/12/magazine/the-mixed-up-brothers-of-bogota.html?smid=fb-nytimes&smtyp=cur&_r=0 Short picture gallery: http://imgur.com/a/bIo6A Â Certainly some nature vs nurture stuff going on too. CorgiShinobi
Space Ghost Coast to Coast. Â Man, that show had such an odd production life span. Every now and then something from the show pops up, though more as a nostalgic one-off or short-lived event.
TheMightyEthan
Obviously the rural farm lot aren't too pleased. Why is that obvious? I'd hate it if I had to live in the city.
deanb
You're a lawyer through family, you sure you wouldn't be upset if you'd grown up in a trailer park scraping by on McDonalds n passing time naking moonshine, while alt-you was given a bunch of opportunities you never even dreamed of n was now a lawyer. No resentment at all?
TheMightyEthan
You just said they grew up in the rural life, not that they were dirt poor. Plenty of people are poor in the city too. Â But yes, if an accident like that caused you to grow up really poor when your birth parents were better-off, I can see being upset by that. Nothing to do with city/country though. deanb
But it even says in the short picture gallery about the differences between them with one of the twins being slightly shorter through malnutrition, and thicker hands from working farms as a kid, and not being able to pursue a career in the military as his parents couldn't afford to send him to high school. I find it hard to believe that social mobility is so high in the US that you wouldn't be aware in most cases you're pretty fucked if you start off on the impoverished farm.
TheMightyEthan
I'm saying I didn't read the article, and your comment made it sound like the only reason they were miffed was the fact that they lived in a rural area instead of the city. Thursday Next
I see where Ethan is coming from. You could compare someone being raised in Brixton vs someone who was raised on their family farm in Buckinghamshire. Rural =/= Poor necessarily. It's clear from the article, but not Deans comment out of context.

TheMightyEthan
Brian Cox has apparently lost patience with moon landing conspiracy theorists:  I've said it before and I'll say it again - if you don't think Apollo 11 landed on Moon you are a colossal nob end & should get a new brain Buzz Aldrin thinks he's "a pretty smart guy."  Buzz Aldrin also has no patience for the conspiracy theorists:
deanb
You guys know of Brian Cox?
TheMightyEthan
Yeah, he shows up on TV and stuff here from time to time, science educational shows and whatnot. Â There's also this global communications network called the internet that you might have heard of...
Thursday Next
Sort of a Neil Degrasse Tyson, Bill Nye accessible science guy, we don't have a lot of exposure to those two on broadcast, but t'internet fills the gaps.

deanb
Well cos you guys have Tyson n Nye I figured you'd not know Cox. Also a lot of the stuff he covers is pretty controversial subject matters in the states Anyway Chris Evans was described the other day as just "Billie Pipers ex-husband", so there's quite a lot of relatively large stuff you guys won't know (though you'll soon know him). Like I think you guys are more familiar with Graham Norton than Jonathan Ross despite Ross being one of the highest paid UK tv stars (and pretty much our "conan" or ...errr the guy with the chin n cars). Graham Norton is pretty great though. Â Well I guess for you guys things can only get better.
