Weird & Wonderful Web

Vtubers are a thing I'm slowly watching. You never quite know how's things are going to go, it's really not unlike good old regular streams/Let's Plays (think of all the big Twitch streamers). Only tech now allows for avatars now rather than just listening to a voice or seeing a webcam.

Pikamee is probably the better ones for us English speakers to follow since she does know English (born in Texas, family moved back to Japan). It's fascinating to hear her swapping between Japanese and English on the fly. Plus she has quite the unique laugh. I'll leave this post with just her. Notice how she doesn't add an accent when swapping to English! In the above she does so when speaking to another Japanese player.

He has finally done it. This isn't the first time John has made iron but it's the first time he made enough to be able to use it.

The main issue he was coming up against was the man hours needed to process traditional iron ore. He would need A LOT of ore and A LOT of charcoal. His method of concentrating the iron bacteria is genius and the amount of work needed to produce a usable amount of iron is fine.

It'll be interesting to see how far he can take this now. Previously I had my doubts he could get to this stage.

So is he like building himself a ladder of technology from stone age, only using what he's done before? Or is he skipping around?

Generally building on what he's had before- but there's quite a few things I suspect weren't done in the stone age but kind of a mix of "what we know now" with "what tools they could have had to hand" (so like no forged or power tools).
e.g bacteria isn't exactly a thing that they'd have known much about in the stone age period (or Iron Age as this would be). Pretty sure he builds a turbine at one point too for a kiln, just with like wood and ceramic.
(oh and in case don't know - put on captions for his video - it has the description of what he's doing)

edit: what do you know, he has a little turbine in this.

Ah man, sorry @TheMightyEthan, forgot that you replied (didn't help my hotel Wifi and phone data troubles started around then too lol)

But yeah, Dean got it right. It also got to be able to be produced from the land he got, which is why the whole iron bacteria thing was so genius. Everyone for years mentioned how he got no iron ore until he finally cracked it. He does have "iron ore" but in an unconventional form that actually works for his purposes. He's kind of just fuel and time limited now else I think he could figure out how to make steel (see all his experiments in furnace designs plus that turbine). Iron is a pretty good step up though.

Pick a fictional character or famous figure and have a conversation with them, or even make your own bot. This is easily the most sophisticated chatbot I've ever seen and you can also rate responses and swipe between multiple possible responses to help each bot learn the proper behavior.
