excaliburps
Just get back from SpeakUp area, find out that LoneWanderer, the guy who always promote Tay Gappoi is banned now, it seems like he finally get on editor's nerve now. To Excaliburps: Be careful man, I think they start noticing any links people put out in Kotaku TAYs and speakup, hope you won't get banned from posting BF3News link. (even though I saw many people still posting their blog links, so it just a caution) Yeah. They are banning people who link here. I honestly think some of the eds drop by here and lurk from time to time and see who's linking, and ban them. Yeah. Won't be posting the BF3 site I contribute for there. I will, however, post a link for the military piece I'm working on. I'll post it in TAY. I might get banned though as it's being hosted by a different site. Whatcha guys think? Stupid move? deanb
tbh I think it's more so that this place is affiliated with me. And they don't like me or anything I do. So I think gamerfeed n your BF3 news site should be fine. But I guess folks can test the water, post one post with one link in, then post another to here or steam group. Then maybe one with a mix of both. See what happens

They sometimes ban people even for linking harmless sites. From non-gaming sites, to gaming sites that are in a different theme as them. Then again, gamrFeed isn't exactly in good terms with Kotaku as well. Dare I say it, they are a bit snooty when it comes to Kotaku. Because of Kotaku's writing, not linking the proper site for the news they got, etc. Hmm...I might try and post my interview in a Kotaku TAY. I might get banned, I might not. Not that big of a difference anyway. As I mostly comment here and on other sites. For news there's twitter. Oh, and there's gamrFeed as well. Their community is supposed to be quite significant as well.
Goldwings
Peteer01 found my old banned account from a few years ago and it brought back some memories so I decided to go seek out the comments that I believe got me banned. After I found them, I didn't want to derail the Fucking Kotaku thread so here's a thread where we can all share our stories on how we were banned or lost stars on Kotaku if we ever have. I won't waste time telling my tale so instead, take a look at the comments. Just click All to see the whole conversation. I'll leave it to all of you to decide whether it was justified or not. So, anyone else a story to share? Well this explains where one of my favourite commenter disappeared to For me I was banned twice, but brought back once by Ashcraft. Then I was banned again after their new update on the gawker site 7-8 months ago. Still have no idea why I was banned (which was why Ashcraft got rid of the ban for me). Stars... er. It's embarrassing to say, but I've lost it and regained it about 7+ times. Edit: Oops just noticed that was your older account. Was it weird I noticed that because it was missing the "-"? slatz_grobnik
Star system was fantastic at first. Now? Everyone has one and they don't care if they have one. Throughout the Gawker universe, stars are generally not that hard to come by. The "made decent Photoshop contest entry" is about at par for other sites. Generally, Kotaku and Jez were the two that were the hardest to get stars on. While the cliquiness of Deadspin and Jal can make it hard, I think that people have been starred on Gawker main and Lifehacker for writing in grammatical English. So, whether conscious or not, I think there's some trend to get in line with the other sites on the list.
