deanb
As in people that declare "Day one" after seeing a trailer/screenshot/title of a game. Guess it'd be nice to splash out £40 on something without much to go on.

Guess it'd be nice to splash out £40 on something without much to go on.  Ah...I mostly see that with blind following of a sequel.  I got burned that way really bad with DAII...Not that the game is bad...It just wasn't what I expected. IE. Ironic(I kid). XD
Thursday Next
Ummm, I have quite honestly declared "Day One" upon seeing a teaser for a franchise I like. I did it for God of War Ascension, Beyond: Two Souls and will do it for pretty much any PS3 Final Fantasy title Squeenix care to announce. MasterDex
I claimed Day One for quite a few games too. I'm old enough and wise enough now to have a good idea of what I like so a trailer or a preview can be enough for me to know whether I'll like the game or not. For instance, Company of Heroes II? Day One. Â That said, if I say Day One, it doesn't guarantee a Day One buy. If shit happens or is revealed about the game, my decision to buy on the first day might change. Strangelove
Yeah, I can't say Ive ever said or posted "day one" anywhere about anything. Â Don't get me wrong, there are certain games I have faith in that I am a complete fanboy about, I would buy those on release date probably with minimal information. But I dont say it. What if I dont do it? That's kind of lame. Plus, it makes saying "day one" meaningless. Might as well not say anything at all. It just shows gullibility when 95% of games have people yelling "day one!" at them. Like dude, get some fucking standards. Â I guess that's my real peeve, just making things meaningless. So meaningless they might as well not be said. If you say "day one" on a thread or an article, you might as well say "first!" too while youre at it since its the same shit. Hot Heart
Every time you fund a Kickstarter you are effectively saying 'day one'.
Faiblesse Des Sens
^They're really the only thing I do day one. Great point. Though I think it's unhealthy to view Kickstarter as a place where you buy anything. Â The only other day one buy I've done recently is Botanicula... but the reason for that should be obvious. Skoshuke
Websites where lengthy articles are dissected into separate pages. Â I can see why one would add pages from a design perspective, but something about them just annoys me the tiniest amount. It feels as though you've decided you want to exploit me for ad revenue, though I hope that's not true. Also, within this peeve, articles where the last page is just one or two paragraphs, because it's an automated process. So icky.
Strangelove
Yeah, I never go to page 2 with articles like those. Its obviously for ad revenue. Plus, if you cant get to the point on one page then I dont think its worth it. And I mean that ONLY for game stuff. Id rather see the bullet points of reviews or new game info over a really long 3 page whatever.

It's not quite the same as saying "First" as saying first does not convey any opinion either way. You may hate the product or love it. At least saying Day One is shorthand for "Based on the content revealed here I am enthused enough about the product to commit to a purchase at the earliest opportunity."

Strangelove
Spelling shit in a derogatory manner. Crapcom, M$, $ony, Wii, etc. Â Who the fuck thinks that's clever?
