TheMightyEthan
Why do people insist on holding their phones the wrong direction when taking video?

deanb
It's because they're taking video with the same device used to make photos, and photos can be portrait. If videos were still made on stuff like this then you'd find people less likely to hold it 90o off. That and 50% of people are of below average intelligence. Waldorf and Statler
I would like to check where you got that statistic as it is a known fact that 67% of statistics are made up.
TheMightyEthan
I know why they do it, what I don't get is how you can do that more than once without realizing it's idiotic when viewed on anything other than a phone.
deanb
Because other people also do it, thus reinforcing the idea it's okay/not a terrible thing. Another line of thinking would be "it is only a video of a dog going down stairs, not citizen kane after all".
TheMightyEthan
It just occurred to me that, honestly, I think it would bother me a lot less if Youtube/other sites that display them would recognize it and reshape the video player to suit. Without the black bars on the side it wouldn't be nearly so off-putting. Edited March 11, 2013 by TheMightyEthan
Waldorf and Statler
When I say somebody used ad hominem against me and like a week later somebody replies to let me know it's not ad hominem. EVERY. SINGLE. TIME. Yes it is. Maybe it's not the definition you're used to but if I make an argument and the troll replies with insults against me, my humor or anything about my character instead of telling me why my argument is wrong then it IS. Unless everybody I know and I have been using the term wrong.
Waldorf and Statler
Another one. Fuckin' Gawker. If I make a very broad/general statement and your reply is "way to stereotype not everybody is like that" I want to fucking punch you. NO SHIT. Stereotypes exist for a reason though and you are deluding yourself by trying to white knight when it's not necessary
Strangelove
People being impressed by other people recreating shit in Minecraft every other week. It just takes time, thats it. Thats the only thing impressive about it. Sadly, these people have a lot of it. Thats not very impressive.
Mister Jack
People who describe any kind of humor they don't enjoy as LOLSORANDOM. I don't like randomness much myself, but just because you don't find something funny doesn't automatically mean it's "random."
Hot Heart
Hmm, I tend to see people use 'random' as a catch-all term for any humour they find a bit weird, regardless of whether they like it or not. The word is way overused. I suspect that's a British thing though.
Baconrath
When people don't seem to get that 'funny' is a relative concept, i.e. The Humor Scientists of the Kotaku comment section. Their quest to claim something as funny or unfunny and declare that notion law continues undaunted. When the original of a 'classic' video vanishes into the ether and a bunch of copies of varying (bad) quality pop up in its place with claims like FUNNIEST VERSION!!!! MUST SEE!!

Mister Jack
Recaps in a top ten video before the number one spot. I don't have the memory of a goldfish. I can remember what I saw five god damn minutes ago.
Waldorf and Statler
That is especially annoying when the video is short as hell. I appreciate it when it's a many-video series though.

deanb
As in on your own machine, or paying for hosting like we did back in the day. If it's on your own machine, I can see it being a pain. But paid hosting is pretty simple.
