deanb
Honestly, I just wish every website would default all links to 'open in new tab'. I'm really growing tired of the right-click followed by a mouse twitch. Middle-click. Ora ctrl+click which is what I use since I hate over using the middle mouse button, tends to be the weakest. (that and "woot, keyboard shortcuts")
TheMightyEthan
That assumes my other hand is already on the keyboard, which most of the time it isn't.

deanb
People who manage to form a strong opinion/"facts" on a game without ever playing it. Underlining "strong" cos you can have obviously form some kind of opinion from reviews, trailers, past experiences etc. And no this isn't just agemon, I thought I'd put it in before due to a dispute involving Postal 2 & GTA with someone who had never played postal 2 but had read a blog post on it. Cyber Rat
People do that a lot on this forum. "I think game X has the best story. Although I've never played it." Really annoys the crap out of me.

Really annoys the crap out of me. It's even worse when you have played the game, and they try to argue that it's not that good based on reviews or something. "Well, IGN said that it sucked!" Mr. GOH!
How would one counter the argument of "Freedom of Speech" in a situation like a lecture, then? Personally, I would probably say that on government property (ie. the high school, assuming it its a public school) any rights they may have will be forfeit since they are currently government property, which allows the government the right to enforce the rules they have in place on said property. Ethan has the general outline correct, but students at high school have a different level of freedom of speech than adults, depending on the state. The US Constitution and Supreme Court recognize limits on student expression. But a state constitution may restore full protections; a state constitution may generally give folks more freedoms than the fed Constitution, but may not give people less protection (because that would violate the federal Constitution). That is, some states (like my state of origin, Iowa) give students the full protection that adults receive. Others do not. So the teacher may be able to just tell the kid to wait till he's eighteen or class is over and then he'd be free to say whatever bullshit he wants. CorgiShinobi
lol, IGN. Hey, they're useful for things. Though, yes, I can't take someone seriously when they want me to believe a reviewer to verify that their opinion is valid in spite of their lack of experience with the actual game. Minecraft: I stay away from the game, much like WoW, in that I know if I ever got a taste of it, I would probably become addicted. Just look at what happened to me with Pokemon White. I was almost not going to get it, and now I've been training, catching, breeding, exploring, and doing all kinds of tasks for 60+ in-game hours! (was a while back around time of the California vs games debate) Being able to tell DA:O and FFXII are vastly different games from a screenshot is a "strong" opinion? My bad on my comparison of Source Code to Deja Vu, although never having seen Source Code. Hopefully no one was offended. My Internet pet peeve? People who think you can't have an opinion on something unless you've intimately poured over every detail on the subject. I had to apparently buy and waste two hours on Portal before I could legitimately call it a two-hour tech demo. Some still claim I have not given it a "proper chance" because I haven't read the hundred-page theory threads on the game or the "clever tie-ins" to Half-Life. Strangelove
People who ask for remakes, sequels or HD versions of game franchises that pretty much bombed the first time they came out and would make the company very little money. Megaman Legends 3 I understand(even if I was never a fan of the series), but Capcom will NOT make an HD remake of Tron Bonne. They might as well throw money down the toilet while theyre at it. Strangelove
Its funny that anyone who pays full price for a game HAS to like it. They wont say it sucks no matter what. Theyll even try to convince themselves its bad or ordinary. So many mediocre games out there being declared as "awesome" during the first week of release. Yet in a month it really sucked and theyll admit it once the pain of wasting 50 or 60 bucks is gone.
Mr. GOH!
People who treat the release of a mediocre game like it's the Second fucking Coming and who treat people skeptical of said game as if they were unreasoning monsters. Got something specific in mind, GOH? Well, most games have their core fans who act this way. Even games of limited scope and interest that get hyped in misleading ways. Is that specific enough? :3 Its funny that anyone who pays full price for a game HAS to like it. This annoys me too. When I pay for a turkey, I'm the first to admit it. I bought FFXIII and DA2 at full price (with preorders!) and I freely admit they were awful. Edited May 10, 2011 by Mr. GOH! TheMightyEthan
I don't remember the last time I paid more than like $15 for a game I ended up not liking, but a lot of that's probably because I never buy games day one unless I am absolutely 100% sure I'm going to love it. deanb
Okay firstly: a minor pet peeve is that while chrome will normally do a kind of back-up of anything I type, for some reason whatever system this forum is using it goes against chrome's ability to do that, so for some reason I just lost my post. Which means second time around it won't be as good. Now to the original post as best I remember it. though largely lacking in the fire of the original. "They're a business" So what? I'm a customer. I perfectly understand that a business has the main aim of acquiring profits. Don't fault them for it. But as a customer my main purpose is not to bend over and have the business ass rape the profits out of me. As a customer I wear the pants in this relationship, I have the cash, the companies want my cash. I don't see why at all it would be an issue that as a customer I would feel I can make a few demands and requests to the company that wants my money. A customer is not there to give a business money just because they are a business. That's not how it works. A business is there to give me, the customer, enjoyable things in exchange for cash. Ass rape is not enjoyable. If you find ass rape enjoyable then you can take my turn too then yougo get your head checked out., and finally you can go get ass raped on another planet while the rest of us bend the companies to our will and not the other way around.
