I've been meaning to pop this one in for a while, mysteriously, I am spurred in to action.

people who compare business/gaming practices to ass rape. Surprisingly, I would rather buy CoD 7 than be raped via any orifice.

Every time you make some criticism about some game, some douchebag shows up and says "w/e go back to CoD."

Although I don't play Call of Duty, at that point I feel like I have to speak for all the people who play CoD, and say something among the lines of "Hey, who are you to tell insult someone by what they play."

Thats just me, though.

I don't know if Zeke in inFAMOUS 2 is supposed to be represented as a bit dumb but he has committed the following:

- Saying 'would of'

- Confusing horde and hoard

- Saying he'll hold down the fort

Of course, the first two are only visible in the subtitles. :P

I've noticed people saying 'free reign' as opposed to 'free rein' too, but apparently that's in wide enough usage and I guess, technically, it's OK. Although if you do 'reign' then you pretty much have free rein. You reign regardless of whether or not you are free. :unsure:

I think he's more so a comic relief rather than being a half-wit. After all, he made the Amp and he does know a lot about the machines and devices in the game.

There's a line where Cole questions Zeke's use of technical jargon when you're about to restore power to various generators for the first time. Zeke mentions how Cole dropped out of college while he at least took shop, or something to that regard. :lol:

I really hate it (though I don't have any specific instances in mind) when there's a well-thought post or article about a specific opinion (such as why a game is bad or something), complete with good examples, logical conclusions, and thoughtful analysis, and then in the comments some dumbass "refutes" this with "well w/e I liked it".

Just fucking no. It's like these people don't read or don't even WANT to exercise their lethargic grey matter on things such as "maybe this guy has a point". I'm not saying people should agree with an opinionated article, but you just can't say "no" without any real reason unless you want to sound like an immature child. In short, people just don't get to refute a well-thought-out opinion with a simple "lolno". I mean, they can, they'll just sound like dumbasses when doing so.

I also get annoyed when people say "an opinion is an opinion", especially when comparing between one that is based on concrete evidence and is logical and a brain-dead opinion from some random fanboy. Opinions aren't created equally, and really shouldn't be treated as such.

Much agreed. If I spend time making a lengthy post I'm perfectly happy for someone with the exact opposite opinion to me to refute every single point I make using sound reasoning, but when people use the 'agree to disagree' subjectivity defence without defending their point of view, ignore everything I said or worse of all ignore almost everything I said but nitpick at one minor point which is supposed to undermine my entire argument (often combining this with the subjectivity defence) then I want to punch them so hard in the virtual face it hurts them in real life. Even though I know that any other intelligent internet goers will see them for the morons they are there's no guarantee that these intelligent people will be the ones reading the thread/post/whatever-it-is.

Indeed. I don't mind at all if someone does't agree with a single thing I said, but using cheap cop-outs like "well that's your opinion" reeks of laziness, as if I'm supposed to respect that guy's opinion just because it's an opinion. No. I respect a guy's opinion if it's well thought out and backed up with specific examples or a series of logical thoughts. It's also indicative that they're not even listening to you at all, and it makes you feel like you're just talking to a brain-dead parrot.

This isn't internet, this is aimed squarely at gamers:

The:

Microsoft = Xbox

Sony = Playstation

though process that goes on.

The thought that Microsoft is a huge software giant and Sony an electronics manufacturer just seems to leave peoples mind every now n then.

I agree. That does bug me. Another thing that somewhat bugs me is when people think that consoles use the same components that are commercially available for purchase on PCs when they're not. Especially when you talk about GPUs. There's a lot of difference in form factor, chipset and the like. It's not a consumer graphics card goddamit.

New fucking pet peeve:

Game news sites announcing deals on games a couple of hours before the deal is over. Joystiq does this a hilarious number of times with Steam sales, but today RPS did the same.

Nothing is more infuriating than seeing a game you want, going all excited to the site, and seeing a big fat MSRP price instead of the delicious deal you were promised. Fuck them. Fuck them all.

forum posts of

"I'm trying to work out problem with product X anyone got any help"

couple posts later

"No worries I figured out what was wrong"

Put down your damn solution in the post too so those who also have your problem, hence a google search brining it up, can use it too.

In light of the rage behind the horrendous From Dust port, I've been reminded of one of my biggest internet pet peeves: the famous "internet boycott".

Now, I completely support people not buying Ubisoft games anymore, but don't try to give yourself more credit than you deserve in calling it a "boycott". It's not. Boycotts involve depriving a business of money with a MASS exodus of consumer revenue. These are organized protests, made very clear to the business in question, and involve a very large amount of people.

You're not part of a moral high ground by making a consumer choice. There's a very big difference between a real boycott and just not buying a game from a publisher just 'cause you don't wanna. But no, at this day and age everyone has to be just ANGRY about something. Everyone's always gotta be a part of a "protest" of some sort, and this is the saddest one of them all. Hey, look at me! I'm NOT buying a game! I'm so principled! I'm BOYCOTTING this publisher!

What a fucking lazy way to protest. If you're not going to actually PROTEST in organizing a real boycott, don't make yourself seem all "high and mighty" just because you're not buying something. What a joke, protest by inaction. How convenient, I get to be a part of a principled protest, and I don't have to do absolutely ANYTHING! What a deal! I guess tomorrow I'll "boycott" gasoline companies by sitting on my ass all day watching reruns of Star Trek eating Cheetos and refusing to go out of the house!

Lazy wankers.

When people go on and on about story in video games it makes me want to shout "Go read a book or something!" I mean, yeah, it's important to many games, but if this is the medium you go for storytelling I feel like you're doing it wrong.
