Your Rig

How did we not have this?

Anyway post your rig. (maybe pictures too)

I'm currently on a pre-built system (a series of unfortunate, and semi-fortunate events lead to a time where I had more money than time and sense.)

Win 7 Pro 64-bit

Intel Core2Quad Q6600 @ 2.4ghz

6GB DDR2 RAM (dunno mhz, but I think it's low)

Nvidia 9600GT 512mb

2x 1TB HDD

Blu-Ray drive

TV tuner card

Wi-Fi card

And this is where I'm aiming at for my summer rig. Going to move onto something more flexible that should be my last whole PC purchase for a while.

My old rig that I eventually managed to recover and fix is still in working order (no thanks to my housemate currently using it. Fuck I removed a lot of cack from it's fans yesterday):

Intel Quad Q6600

2GB RAM (was a massive amount back then

500GB HDD

Nvidia 8800GTS 330MB

fancy case fans.

Rig always sounds so manly for something so nerdy. To me its mah baby :D (with special thanks to masterdex for recommending me stuff components!)

GIGABYTE GA-890GPA-UD3H 890GX motherboard

AMD Phenom II X4 965 3.4 GHz Black Edition 125W Processor

GIGABYTE Radeon HD 6850 Overclock - 1 GB graphics card

OCZ 2 x 4 GB DDR3-1333 Gold Low Voltage Dual Channel RAM (These unfortunatly didn't arrive till a week ago and were faulty, so I'm currently rocking a 2GB stick a friend has lent me so I can still use my compy)

Cooler Master GX 650 W PSU

Samsung SpinPoint F3 Desktop Class HD 1 TB 7200 rpm

Cooler Master HAF 932 Tower Case Black. Dex: "I know its expensive but you'll never have to upgrade for ages and it has loads of fans, and its spaceous so has ideal ventilation" He was right. Most awesome case EVER.

LOOK AT THAT MANLY CASE. Gone on take a look. I'll wait ... ok lets continue.

intro01.jpg

Samsung SH-S223C 22x Internal DVD±RW drive. 22x, works grand, cheap as chips as well, I nearly regret not getting a blu-ray but I can always upgrade later.

Logitech G500 Gaming Mouse. Dex: "Ya gotta get a G500! plus look its half price!" he was right it rocks!

Death Note Mouse Mat....ok its not that important but look how cool it looks!

l_07673944.jpg

Ordered everything from Pixmania as a lot of the prices were ideal and reduced, the RAM was €80 for example.

My monitor is a Samsung Syncmaster 20" T200HD, which I've been gaming on with my consoles for a while, of course its native resolution is 1680 x 1050 and does 1:1 pixel mapping which is perfect for the PC so I use that and its a fantastic picture. Its a bitch to move back and forth though as I have the PC at one side of the room and the consoles at the other. Currenly debating whether to buy a cheap HD TV for the consoles or buy a cheap monitor for the PC. Or maybe just set 'em all up in one big area. That way if I ever get a sound card and surround sound system I can run it all through the computer. I'll plan this tonight :bun-YES:

I'm uh... currently running on a Macbook Pro right now. My computer still has not been fixed.

It's been years since I've checked what's actually inside it, but it was all made by me. All I remember of it was:

CPU: Core 2 Duo

Memory: 2 GB RAM

80 GB HDD <--(>_>)

GPU: Nvidia 8600 GTS

The case is stock, and I'm not even sure what the hell my motherboard is, but it is old as feck and is the thing that broke, requiring me to fix it. It's been a good run.

I liked how it looked at the time of purchase... <_<

I still don't think it's too badbad except for the side window... that shit gets filthy with dust after a while.

Also, that side fan lights up with blue LEDs, so when I leave it on overnight for torrents and such.... it's seriously annoying.

I actually have to drag my printer out of its nook so that it blocks the light from being in my face when I go to sleep.

I definitely learned my lesson. Next time: no fancy lights and no see-through parts.

I've actually considered getting a new case and transfering everything a few times, but I don't really have the cash to waste on that.

My rig:

CPU: Core 2 Duo e7200

RAM: 2 GB

GFX: EVGA GeForce GTX 460

250 GB HDD

All wrapped up in a tower case that looks like it came from the late 90s. And no one's the wiser.

My mouse and keyboard are pretty stock (well, the keyboard is ergonomically sleek and black-plated, but that's about it), so I'm not really sure what to say of that. They work well enough for me, though. Don't remember what my mobo was, so... :P

My soon-to-be Power Rig, In the Mail Soon:

Manufactured by iBuyPower

CPU: i7 960 4x 3.20GHz/8MB L3 Cache

RAM: 6GB

GFX: EVGA GeForce GTX 560 Ti (weak, but great overclocking)

1 TB HDD

Pretty shitty case, but aesthetics aren't my priority.

DeathAdder and stock keyboard.

Mobo: SLI Gigabyte GA-X58A-UD3R w/4x PCI-E 2.0 x16 USB 3.0, S-ATA 3.0 RAID

LG BLU-RAY Re-Writer, DVD±R/±RW Burner Combo Drive

23" LCD 1920x1080 ASUS VG236H 3D-Ready 120Hz NVIDIA GeForce 3D Vision Bundle

Overall, pretty ridiculous and very expensive, but other than the GeForce should last me a while.

You guys kill me. We had just moved in at the time. We then moved them onto our kitchen table, and as of now they are on desks in different rooms. But co-op L4D is tougher without the face-to-face communication.

Agree with that entirely, man. I always find that using PTT is kind of... slow.

Personally I just use Skype with my friends instead of using the in-game voice. Quicker that way.

Also, nice setup Ethan, but I would've gotten the same screens for both systems to even out the symmetry. XD

Yeah, I bought the screens a year apart from each other. I would have bought another one of the Dell 23 inch ones, cause I love it so much (fantastic color quality), but they didn't sell it anymore. :(

*Edit* - As for the voice chat, my friends and I always just jump in a Steam group voice chat. No PTT necessary.
