TheFlyingGerbil
You should get rid of the desk in your room if you don't use it - bedrooms are a lot more relaxing if they don't have work associated items in them.
TheMightyEthan
Color's a little jacked up if you zoom in because the sun is on the wrong side of the house to light the rooms well for the camera, and with the flash it just looked weird. toxicitizen
Looking back at the first page of this thread, it seems I never did get around to posting my gaming area. Better late than never, I suppose. Sorry about the potato quality, pic was taken with my Vita... Pretty basic setup. My fat PS3 and ugly-ass PC both hooked up to my monitor. On the shelf is a little over half of my PS3 collection as well as all my Vita games. I still have a stack of DS games but nothing to play them on at the moment so they're hidden away somewhere with my PS2 games. Having limited shelf space sucks. I used to have a shitload more for PS3 but I sold a lot of them over the years, usually because I needed money for Steam sales. I tend to only hold onto exclusives, everything else I always end up rebuying on Steam sooner or later, anyway...
TCP
The plan is after the wedding to replace my 40" Samsung with a 55-60 inch Samsung (and move the 40" into the bedroom and pair it with PlayStation TV). The contrast in lighting makes it hard to see the everything so here's a close up of the entertainment stand with my PS3 and PS4 in all their glory. TCP
Thanks Dan, this is our first house and it's been a bit of a process getting the house the way we want it, but it's slowly all coming together. staySICK, yeah I'll probably have to change everything when/if I have kids. The dogs like to wrestle right in front of the TV, which makes me a little nervous, kids would be a headache.
Mal
Wall mount. That will secure your TV. Add in some rocks/weights on the bottom stand and it might work out. Worst comes worst is that any potential kids will become your child laborers.
Faiblesse Des Sens
>2014 >not wall mounting your shit Step it up people. I live in a tiny bedroom where the TV literally goes from wall to wall and I still wall mounted it.
TheMightyEthan
What's the point in wall mounting when you have to have a stand for all your components anyway? Also, with mine in the corner there's not really a good way to wall mount it, and the fireplace and windows are in the way of putting it on any flat walls. Mal
One last look before I take it all down in a day or two. My PS3 is behind my TV. It is holding up so far. If it starts to get hot in my room (which it can with my computer, monitor, TV and PS3 running), I turn on a fan to blow some air to that corner. I also would if I could mount my TV on an arm mount but those ones are expensive and I don't feel like drilling into the walls in a rental as a student. Besides, I have no idea if such a mount exist and if my wall can hold it up. And yeah, you can see my rock collection. What's the point in wall mounting when you have to have a stand for all your components anyway? Also, with mine in the corner there's not really a good way to wall mount it, and the fireplace and windows are in the way of putting it on any flat walls. More space for stuff. In TCP case, it makes sense to wall mount his TV. For you, you have a similar problem to me with a TV in a corner. staySICK
I don't wall mount my tv for 2 reasons: I don't particularly trust the walls in the place we're renting with holding a $2000 tv, and there's only one windowless wall in our living room and I'm not thrilled about having my tv there. Here (hopefully) in a year or two when we buy a place I plan to have my sets mounted.

Also, with mine in the corner there's not really a good way to wall mount it, and the fireplace and windows are in the way of putting it on any flat walls. You can put it at a better height, it's easier to adjust, it's safer, it looks better, and it frees up space.
TheMightyEthan
I like my TV lower than wall mounting is really conducive to. I like it so that when I'm sitting down my eyes are level with the middle of the screen.
Faiblesse Des Sens
I don't have a TV with shite viewing angles so it's not a problem
Eleven
I think it's the angle of your head actually. I set up mine like Ethan's. My head hurts looking up like that, but maybe i just have a shit couch.
TheMightyEthan
Yeah, it has nothing to do with viewing angles on the screen, I just don't like looking up while watching TV.
deanb
Pretty sure you're not meant to be looking up at screens anyway, bad for you. Though US might provide different H&S advice than UK.

I'm not sure how much I'm actually looking up considering the screen is angled down.
TheMightyEthan
You still have to point your eyes up, all angling it down does is make it so when you do it's square on instead of angled away.
