The contrast in lighting makes it hard to see the everything so here's a close up of the entertainment stand with my PS3 and PS4 in all their glory.

I might switch out the entertainment stand with an Ikea Kallax 2x4 on it's side, since the dogs just get nose prints on the glass and it's not that open.

This sorry corner of my living room is now where my PC is situated. Daughter has taken our 'entertainment room' because apparently she needs her own room, smells fishy to me but whatever. The PC was in our bedroom for the last few months but I managed to get it moved by arguing that my gaming time is how i best unwind, and I enjoy that most on my PC, but also didn't want to spend my evenings when Baby goes to bed in the bedroom away from my partner.

It worked.

It's not ideal, but as of right now....it's alright.

Took most of the day, and there's still some work/cleanup to do, but now I've moved my game/bed room into a different spot. This is where my old consoles used to be, now they're were my bedroom used to be. :P

This place is a bit smaller, but overall it's an improvement, particularly in terms of layout and how close power outlets are. :P

The other room, I'd like to turn it into a movie room if/when things get better. :P

Some changes:

I've wallmounted my TV and got a new desk, that's taller than expected, so now I also need a new chair, or a lot of cushions. :P

Need some cable management, but I'll wait until I have my new PC, so I know exactly how many cables and where they go. :P

Finally upgraded my setup enough to warrant posting an update!

JP8lH4t.jpg

I'm definitely not regretting that second monitor. Such a massive QoL improvement in so many ways. It's also so large that it wouldn't fit under the shelves that used to be on top of my desk, so I had to remove them. Got a Kallax unit from Ikea to make up for the lost storage space and I'm also very pleased with that purchase! Still need to get some proper bookcases soon, though. The two tiny ones I have are still overflowing even after moving all my mangas and art books over to the Kallax...

Also, I think I finally need to upgrade to some proper PC speakers. That bookshelf stereo has served me well over the years but they're getting hard to fit into this new configuration. Also, I think the stereo part of the thing might be fucked lol.

I was doing some reorganizing and found some of my old CDs and put one in it for the hell of it. The disc tray was somehow covered in dust even though I haven't opened it in years and even after wiping it clean it would only play the first track. When I tried skipping to the second one, it stopped playing and started making some weird noise. I panicked and got the CD out and there was now an inch wide ring of dust on top of it. Now it just won't play at all lol. At the very least the CD player probably needs a deep cleaning...

Originally I was just going to have the old window removed, thing had a huge crack and was held together by hopes and dreams lol. Then I used that chance to give my room a makeover.

Hidden because this wall has some rather NSFW posters lol.

Spoiler

Left part on the first pic used to be a closet, moved that to a different room and turned that space into a shelf area, I do need to do something about light, half of the room is kinda dark lol. Also something about that empty wall behind my bed, I'm thinking more shelves, or some posters. :P

This room has been through a lot of changes, most of them in the last year or so. :P

I never posted again after I got my new TV:

Sound bar is gone because the new TV has speakers that are better (not as much bass, but much less muddy overall), and it can do 3D audio that works surprisingly well. I still keep it turned off on the PlayStation input because that does real 3D audio, whereas the TV's is just stimulated, but for stuff that doesn't already do it it's way better than straight stereo.

Okay, this should be the final update for quite a while:

(Not the main attraction, but the sound bar is back because I ultimately decided that while the TV speakers do sound better in a lot of ways they don't have the same oomph. It was a battle scene in The Expanse that made me realize it.)

New PC is up and running! And a slight change in my setup, although it's a semi-temporary one. I definitely intend to go back to a dual monitor setup in the near future. I miss it so bad lol :(

You can't see it in the pic but all those RGBs are doing a rainbow spiral thingy in sync that I'm 99% sure improves my framerate somehow. Except for the keyboard because it's a Logitech piece of crap that isn't compatible with iCue! My old PC is still in its old spot behind the rainbow box but it's fairly empty right now. Eventually I'll move it and put the new one in its place and once I feel confident I won't need it as an emergency backup machine I'll probably put my old GTX 960 back in it and turn it into a Linux box.

And we're back! The new monitor got here a day early. 😁

mv9dfhq.jpg

The smaller screen size is definitely noticeable (especially when it's next to my old monitor; the Samsung one seemed so massive comparatively lol), but on the bright side the 1440p image is much crisper on it. On the Samsung one you could kinda tell it was being blown up a little bigger than it should be at that resolution. Not gonna lie, though, now I kinda want to get a second one...

Next purchase is gonna have to be a wider desk, though. Having all my fancy RGBs hidden behind the monitor simply won't do. Not crazy about my headset stand being behind the monitor, either.

No tech changes (other than the controller charging docks that I guess I didn't have yet last time), just decorative.

Oh wait, looks like in the last picture I didn't have the wall mount installed yet. The one that lets me extend it 42" from the wall and do this:
