toxicitizen
Once again, they're teasing something Deus Ex-related. https://twitter.com/eidosmontreal/status/341537040107712512 And it seems some trademarks were registered for variants of "Deus Ex: The Fall" by Square Enix a little while back. Better not be anything other than a proper game this time. edit: Announcement coming wednesday, it seems. Edited June 4, 2013 by FLD
Strangelove
http://kotaku.com/the-next-deus-ex-is-a-mobile-first-person-shooter-511421939 Goddammit.
Faiblesse Des Sens
So it's basically a tablet version of HR. No big deal. What was everyone expecting with the team working on Thief?
Waldorf and Statler
Fucking..... SUCK. AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAH. Square Enix fuck you.
toxicitizen
Goddamnit. After two trolls like this, they better end up fucking porting to PC the improved version of HR they're developing for Wii U. Otherwise I'm fucking done with these guys. There's a limit to how much cruelty I can just take without reacting. On a more rational note: looks kind of... okay? I'd probably play it if they ported to PC. But still.... WHY MUST THEY DO THIS TO US?!
Waldorf and Statler
Yeah what really stings is we've gotten teased over a new game twice. FUCK YOU.

Otherwise I'm fucking done with these guys. So you just want a slightly improved version of a game you already have played and if you don't get it you're done? ...are you retarded? Once again, the main studio is working on Thief. If you were expecting a full-on game then you only set yourself up for disappoint. At most I was expecting some hastily thrown together side-story developed by another team. Well, I guess this is that, but on an iPad. They're a big studio, you do realize a workforce can be divided into multiple teams, right? I'm not alone thinking it's idiotic that they're basically fixing their game two years later and, as far as they're saying right now, keeping the fixed version exclusive to a completely new platform (and a failing one at that), shutting out existing fans in the process. And after twice now teasing something new related to this series only to reveal: 1) a joke and 2) something completely underwhelming that basically no one wanted, then yeah, I feel like it's time they threw fans of the series a bone. Besides, there is such a thing as context. You must've missed the part of my post where I said "on a more rational note", implying that I wasn't 100% serious. Faiblesse Des Sens
They're a big studio, you do realize a workforce can be divided into multiple teams, right? http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Eidos_Montreal "According to D'Astous, unlike other video game development studios Eidos Montreal's development cycle is characterized by smaller teams (totaling 350 people) working over a longer period." Eidos itself of course has several studios. The studio that is Eidos Montreal is not big enough to develop two AAA titles at once. I don't get how you can be so upset that you're not getting a slightly reworked version of a game you clearly enjoyed anyways. Also, what makes this a joke? It's some random studio making a mobile game related to the series. If you don't want it (don't say no one, because people always want more games) then don't play it. Are you also going to bitch about how there's a book so you're missing out on that story as well?
toxicitizen
I don't get how you can be so upset that you're not getting a slightly reworked version of a game you clearly enjoyed anyways. Because, as you said, I enjoyed the game and am a massive fan of the series, so yeah, I want the ultimate version of it? Like I said, I think it's ridiculous to address the biggest complaints against the game and then shut out existing fans entirely. And it's not like I'm expecting it for free, either. I'd be willing to pay for a DLC upgrade or hell, I'd probably double dip if it was a completely new release. I'm as upset about this as I'd be about any other instance of needless exclusivity. Also, what makes this a joke? It's some random studio making a mobile game related to the series. If you don't want it (don't say no one, because people always want more games) then don't play it. Are you also going to bitch about how there's a book so you're missing out on that story as well? Again, you must've missed the part where I said the game actually looks kind of okay and that I'd play it if it was ported to PC. It helps to fully read posts before you start arguing them. Waldorf and Statler
Defiance was expected but still burned like my pee pee after a bad one night stand. This was just over-kill. Like the doctor telling me my pee pee will have to be amputated.
toxicitizen
Exactly. Defiance was expected because, come on, April 1st. But this could've been much more. Even taking studio size into account, it could've been an outsourced sequel or even just a smaller, standalone thing, similar to what Ubisoft did with Blood Dragon. That was definitely a possibility. So yeah, it stings a bit. Edited June 5, 2013 by FLD
TheMightyEthan
That's even ignoring the fact that Eidos Montreal isn't the original developer of the series anyway, so there's no reason why a different dev couldn't take on a sequel. Waldorf and Statler
Let's be honest, Warren Spectre would've jumped on the chance if given it. Too bad they're on different studios.
toxicitizen
I doubt it. He's said it before that he's not really interested in the series anymore, I think. And didn't he also recently complain about violence in games or something to that effect? (edit: yep ) Besides, once I found out that he was also involved in Invisible War, I realized that he probably had nothing to do directly with how great the original was. He can just keep on making Mickey Mouse games for all I care. Wait, didn't Disney close Junction Point? What is he even doing these days? Waldorf and Statler
fuck if I know. All I know is that Epic Mickey was the second biggest disappointment I've had from him. The first being IW.
TheMightyEthan
I liked Invisible War, but then I never played the first one. I tried once when I got it on a Steam sale, but I didn't feel the interface/gameplay aged well at all.
Mr. GOH!
I liked Invisible War . . . C'mon, son. That was a weak-ass game.
Waldorf and Statler
A mere GOHst compared to its predecessor.
toxicitizen
I tried to like IW a few times but the game sure tries its hardest to ensure that doesn't happen. Universal ammo? Sure, stupid, but I can overlook it. Ridiculously small hubs? Eh, harder to ignore but it was a limitation of the tech of the time. But what really killed it for me, and this might be a problem with newer OSes or maybe just the PC version, but to have the game minimize to desktop every fucking time a new area loads? Yeah, you just killed my immersion dead. Also, you know, the quests were boring, the story meh (at least as far as I got into the game), and overall it just wasn't as much fun or satisfying. It's still on "the list", though. I keep telling myself I have to get back to it one day.
Eleven
I'm buying it if it runs decent on the iPad Mini. Hopefully this is not more than $20.
