Hot Heart
What a terrible and predictable joke. You ought to be ashamed of yourself, FLD. Edited June 11, 2013 by Hot Heart
toxicitizen
What are you talking about? That's exactly what I said! ... jerk! Edited June 11, 2013 by FLD
TheMightyEthan
I guess I should have waited to play through it.
toxicitizen
Hahaha, yeah, I think you only recently played it, right? Personally, I was itching to do a new playthrough soon but now I think i'll wait. I really hope it's going to be a DLC upgrade similar to how you can upgrade Civ V to Gold Edition. I'll be double dipping if it's a separate release anyway but that would be ideal. Especially if it removes that damn Missing Link entry from my library! Hot Heart
As far as I'm aware, it's a standalone release. Essentially, like a GOTY edition. Would be pretty annoying to have just played it. I've not revisited Witcher 2 since there were updates and overhauls, and I hear there's another one in the works for the combat that sounds like a 'preview' of what Witcher 3 is doing (pirouettes instead of combat rolls, for example). EDIT: Ah, it's a mod by one of the gameplay designers, so not an automatic update. Edited June 11, 2013 by Hot Heart
toxicitizen
Yeah, I expect it will mainly be a standalone release. It would just be cool for them to make upgrade an option. I honestly don't expect it to be happen, though.
TheMightyEthan
Yeah, I just finished it last week.
toxicitizen
Holy shit! They actually did it! http://eu.square-enix.com/en/blog/dxhr-%E2%80%93-director%E2%80%99s-cut-pc-digital-release-detailsDirector's cut on Steam will be:20$ Standalone 10$ upgrade if you own DX:HR5$ upgrade if you own DX:HR + Missing Link DLC Good on you, Squeenix. This is awesome. Edited October 11, 2013 by FLD
TheMightyEthan
Goddamn, $5? I'll probably get that even though I'll probably never play it...
Faiblesse Des Sens
I thought I owned DE:HR. Guess it's one of the few recent games I pirated. Will wait for Steam sale.
Mr. GOH!
$10? No problemo. $50 on the Wii U? Bwahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahah.
toxicitizen
Yeah, the WiiU price was one of the main reason why I never expected a DLC upgrade option. I guess they realize everyone on Steam and their mother owns DX:HR by now. I imagine very few of those people would be willing to double tip at full price, especially if they paid 5 bucks for the old version. 5$ means I'm grabbing this day one, even though I probably won't have time to play through the game again for a while. Wonder how it'll work, though. I wouldn't mind them removing the standalone Missing Link I have in my library.
TheFlyingGerbil
you can pre-order the Wii U version for under £25 in the UK, which seems perfectly reasonable to me.
deanb
So I'm not overly far in, just gotten the brain chip from the police morgue. Broke my way in. So so far not noticing many huge changes. Mainly subtle, or so subtle (and so long ago) that I'm not noticing them. The weapons DLC stuff, that in the main game just lumped the shotgun, silenced sniper, explosives, etc on you at the start now has them in the factory for you to stumble upon. I guess I'll report back after my first boss fight. One big issue with replaying this game is in Detroit you can get a bit ahead of yourself with going places that don't matter until the second time you're there. Also the areas are quite a bit larger than I remember them being. In fact I think one of the minor subtle changes is less transitions between places. Though I might just be imagining some of the loading transitions.
Hot Heart
I remember one side mission involved sneaking into some guy's place or that it'd be tricky to get in without him noticing you. Only, I'd already been inside the apartment and left the door open, so he was just sat there at the desk, easy to hit with a tranq dart. deanb
Yeah I've done similar before now, just I'd already blown a hole in the wall as opposed to leaving the door open. I'm non-lethal, but I'm not exactly subtle.

toxicitizen
Deus Ex: The Fall coming to Steam. Took long enough but for 10 bucks yeah, I'll bite. Any of you guys played the mobile version? Is it any good?
Strangelove
I thought it was pretty good. A lot like HR. The touch controls do suck though. Its the wrong kind of game to have on touch devices. So yeah, maybe with regular controls itll be better.
toxicitizen
Deus Ex: Mankind Divided trademarked by Square Enix Shitty title but hopefully this one turns out to be the real deal. Considering it's already been confirmed that a new Deus Ex title is in development at Eidos Montreal for PC and next-gen consoles, it seems pretty likely to be the case. Perhaps to be revealed at E3? Then again, now that I've played and enjoyed The Fall, I guess I wouldn't be too pissed if it was the follow-up to that. But I swear to God, if this is another---oh Goddamnit, the timing would be just right for another April's fools bullshit fucking thing, wouldn't it... Strangelove
I kind of miss Jensen. I didnt finish The Fall because I wasnt a fan of the new guy. I know Jensen didnt have much of a personality, but he looked cool and sounded cool. More importantly, the supporting characters were memorable and the city felt alive. After the Fall Im doubtful if they can pull everything off a second time. Im hopeful The Fall was worst because it was on mobile and the developers still know what theyre doing. How successful was HR anyways? It was my first DE game, which I bought because it was recommended, mostly here. I hope a lot of people bought this. And hopefully this time around they get a bigger budget. HR is rough around the graphics and animation dept. Normally I dont really complain about stuff like that, but HR was close enough to AAA than AA, that it seemed off.
deanb
Just to slightly damper this. This was announced last year around about this time: http://www.deusex.com/humandefiance Somewhat hoping it won't be done again (for one Eidos has more than one game they can use for April Fools), but you never know. Normally I dont really complain about stuff like that, but HR was close enough to AAA than AA, that it seemed off. Pretty sure it was very successful. Also I think The Fall was somewhat outsourced. It was overseen by DX:HR's director but it wasn't developed internally at Eidos Montreal. And I think it being an iOS game somewhat limited what they could do, yeah. So I don't see it as a sign to worry. As for Jensen not having much of a personality, well, that's kind of the point. You're making the occasional convo choice and all that and kinda defining your own Jensen. Not to the extent of Shepard or anything like that but the idea is essentially the same. Honestly, there were a few times where HR bugged me a little bit because Jensen would say stuff that would make me go "No, that's not right." Just to slightly damper this. This was announced last year around about this time: http://www.deusex.com/humandefiance Somewhat hoping it won't be done again (for one Eidos has more than one game they can use for April Fools), but you never know. Yeah, I realized the timing as I was writing my post. Hence the bit at the end. They wouldn't do that twice, would they? They can't possibly hate us that much. TheMightyEthan
The problem with Jensen is that you don't have enough control over him to feel like you're defining his personality, so he just comes across as not having one at all. toxicitizen
Yeah, can't really argue with that. I didn't see it as an issue, personally. JC Denton was somewhat similar in that regard. I'd be fine with a blank slate protagonist for a game like Deus Ex to be honest. But the little bit of personality Jensen had was more than enough for me.
