deanb
Yeah Jensen is enough of a character he's not a total blank slate, but not too much you get the issue where your actions/words aren't reflected by Jensen aka Nathan Drake killing everyone syndrome. I felt the conversation boss battles helped you define Jensen your own way in areas where it'd matter.
deanb
http://imgur.com/a/FDAbV Ceilings of Deus Ex HR. It's rare for folks to bother with the ceilings so this is a nice touch. By the way just a minor thought: I've never had a playthrough with Malik dead. Who comes and saves the scientists at Singapore?

Strangelove
Ive played the game twice and she always died. First time I didnt know it was an option, second time I tried several times to save her, but I gave up. You need to be really fast. I just couldnt keep up. toxicitizen
First time I played I didn't know for a fact you could do it but I still kept trying for like an hour until I pulled it off. The game was way too good at being Deus Ex up until that point so I just figured it had to be possible. I only found out you could save Paul in the original after I had already beaten the game and didn't want a repeat of that. Planning on doing a new run soonish and going for all the no kills/no alarms/etc. achievements. This bit is going to be a bitch to pull off non-lethally, I think. Strangelove
I might give it another run. The Director's Cut has a new game+ option. This time Im gonna totally murder everyone.
Strangelove
Anyone know why in HR only 2 battery icons get recharged and the rest dont? I have mine maxed out, but when I run through them only the first two recharge? I dont see any kind of upgrade for that. is that just how the game is?
Hot Heart
I thought only 1 got recharged? But, yeah, that's how the game is. You need energy bars and such for the full recharge (yes, really). Otherwise, I imagine it'd be quite easy to cloak through the entire game or things like that. deanb
That's how the Director's Cut is, in the main game only one recharges. You're meant to keep a stock of the energy bars, bit of resource management, if you fully recharged up each time you'd be able to do an awful lot of stuff without thinking about it. Two is good enough to knock out walls and such without needing to charge up right away. Oh in hardest difficulty none recharge (or just the one with DC)
Strangelove
New game + is awesome. Having all your hacking augments to their max really changes up the game a bit. Not to mention having money to spend on other stuff like weapon upgrades is awesome too. I used to spend all my money on praxis kits, but with NG+ I was already maxed out by the halfway point of the game, so I have a lot of money saved up. And praxis points. I have like, 13 that I have no use for. That being said, The Missing Link dlc being integrated really kind of kills the pace. It fits perfectly in there, but the chapter is just way too long. And im just not a fan of game that take all your shit away from you. Edited April 2, 2014 by Strangelove

I was overpowered just by playing through it the first time.
Strangelove
So as a PS2/PS3/PS4/PSP/Vita/WiiU/Macbook/iPad owner, there's no way for me to play the first 2 Deus Ex games. That's fucking crazy. I can't believe no one wants them for any of those systems. Anyways, how good are they? Most importantly, how similar are they in gameplay and storyline? Faiblesse Des Sens
First game came out on PS2 and you can bootcamp into Windows to play them on PC. Stay away from Invisible War though.
toxicitizen
I was about to start a new thread but I guess this is more of a general Deus Ex thread than specifically about Human Revolution? Anyway, seems the Russian branch of Square-Enix flipped the switch early or something. Deus Ex: Mankind Divided. Seems to be current-gen only, so PC/PS4/XO. The name is also kinda familiar, I think there might've been a leak of some kind a little while back? Also Jensen's back! Mr. GOH!
I kinda want them to do a game set after Deus Ex and Invisible War.
toxicitizen
Invisible What? A game set after the original would indeed be cool but I can see why they'd want to capitalize on Human Revolution's success. Personally, I hope they explore the traditional conspiracy stuff a little bit more this time around. I'm talking X-Files shit, here. Not necessarily aliens (although that would certainly be nice) but I remember at one point in HR you started uncovering stuff about Jensen's past and why he's important when it comes to augmentation. It was this cool conspiracy stuff and I think there were even some MIBs that showed up. But it was all relegated to a short side-quests, iirc. That was probably my biggest disappointment out of the entire game.
deanb
What gets me is how Adam somehow survived millions of tons of steel, concrete and ocean collapsing on top of him. But I guess I did get most of the Praxis kits, he probably was pretty beefed up by then.
TheMightyEthan
Man, I remember like absolutely nothing about that game's story. "Augmentations, something, something, conspiracy to something, something, giant metal city/station in the ice/ocean, something."
toxicitizen
I too picked the ending where Jensen died. It's no surprise that it's being ignored, though. The google translated Russian is borderline incomprehensible but it seems to suggest no ending will be canon. That would suck but I guess it beats just having an half-assed "a little bit of column A and a little bit of column B and a little bit of column C and a little..." kinda bullshit like IW did. Also, looks like they said fuck it and started releasing stuff. Sounds like we'll get a trailer tomorrow.Gimme that second one in proper 1920x1080 and I think I'll have found a replacement for my shitty Phantom Pain desktop wallpaper. toxicitizen
There's more info and a "trailer" for the Game Informer coverage here. Getting hyped! Still going with the icarus motifs eh? Looks like it. There were mentions of Icarus going as far back as the original so it's not that surprising, I suppose. Mister Jack
I heard it's being made by the studio that did the Thief reboot, which makes me nervous since nobody seemed to like that game.
toxicitizen
It really shouldn't since it's the same studio that made Human Revolution... It's a big studio with more than one dev team. Plus, going by that Game Informer video, I'm pretty sure the project leads are the same guys who made HR. Besides, Thief had its issues but most people who actually like the series seemed to enjoy it. I know I did. TheMightyEthan
I don't think Thief was actually bad, I just think it was one of those games that tried to be AAA but didn't really succeed, but if you went into it knowing what to expect then you could enjoy it for what it was. toxicitizen
Much like The Bureau, which I'm currently playing, Thief had development hell written all over it. It's no secret that it had a long and troubled development and it clearly shows in the finished product. Like I said, it has its issues. But I'm with you, I don't think it was bad at all. I love the Thief series and it was Thief-y enough for me. I'm just glad that, for once, it was only the internet that felt the need to needlessly shit all over it. Some critics actually rated it reasonably well. The PC version is sitting at a Metacritic score of 70 and that seems about right to me.
