So we need an insider at Eidos. Is there any possible way that Human Revolution will not be a letdown to fans of the original? I so desperately want this game to be awesome.

Funny you should say that. I ran into an old friend of mine on my way back from class this afternoon.

We started talking and turns out he has like three friends currently working at Eidos Montreal, which is where Human Revolution is being developed.

All three of them are testers, but still. Now I feel like I should've asked about it

You fail for not asking. Go back and ask if it's any good. I must know!

I have some news of the PC version.

It's being "designed" by Ubi Montreal. It's been developed by a dutch company called "Nixxes". Who I googled, turns out they've worked on such prestigious game ports as : Kayne & Lynch 2, the last few Tomb Raider titles, Project Snowblind (which I also had to google, turns out it was originally a 3rd Deus Ex, but IW was so shit they cut ties with the franchise) and Legacy of Kain games.

In other news I'm going to borrow Whiplash off my sister over summer.

So basically the PC version is being handled by some no-name shit dev?

That's nice... <_<

Also, Snowblind was supposed to be a Deus Ex game?

I remember being intrigued by it back when I had a shit PC and could only run games released prior to 2004.

Couldn't run it back then and I sorta skipped over it once I upgraded. I remember it looked okay for a relatively unknown game.

It's 10 bucks on Steam, might look into it.

At this point, it doesn't seem like we have too much to worry about. The game itself seems to be designed from a neutral base (mechanics and gameplay-wise) and since the PC porting team have experience porting games to PC, we shouldn't have too much to worry about in that department (apart from perhaps lower texture resolutions than we deserve, mouse acceleration and a fe bugs and glitches here and there).

....At least, I hope so. Let's just say I'm cautiously optimistic for now.

That's the part I'm worried about. Their ports were nothing outstanding, and certainly nothing to be praised about.

To me, it can easily go down either path.

EDIT: Also, if they go the Crysis route with the "Press Start to continue" crap, then it's off my buy list. PC games shouldn't even NEED that crap.

The last few Tomb Raider ports were alright. They weren't spectacular but there wasn't anything critically wrong with them. I think Kayne and Lynch 2's problems wen't beyond any porting issues. I'm with you though, I can see it easily going down either path but damnit! I gotta keep the dream alive! :'(

Well I don't know about not buying it. It's still early to tell and the design team seems to be doing a lot of things right.

It just sucks that the PC version seems to be little more than an afterthought.

I sure as shit ain't buying it for my PS3. It just wouldn't feel right.

I'm not really concerned about this port business. They seem to have a good pedigree.

It also appears that Eidos are still the ones working on a PC-suitable UI as well as refining the controls and AI.

I think it was mentioned, but there's a section on the PC port in an interview with Dugas here: http://www.gamingexcellence.com/pc/features/74.shtml

A bit more on the extra little PC stuff: http://www.neoseeker.com/news/15215-deus-ex-human-revolution-pc-sporting-dx-11-features-eyefinity-support/

On a PC it's really bad though, cos if people were to actually do as they ask, they'd crash the game.

On a PC "Start" is that button in the bottom of your desktop. It's also represented by the Win key on your keyboard. You push that mid-game, and boom game goes down. Why most gaming keyboards take it off/have a toggle
