Cyber Rat
http://www.gametrailers.com/video/three-ways-deus-ex/712111 It kinda looks like it needs more polish. In what way does this gameplay montage for a game due in 5 months make you believe the game needs polish?
Kovach_
So i just watched that gameplay video Dean posted... I sure as hell hope that regeneration was due to an augmentation. A very expensive one. One that you can't get at the beginning of the game. Edited March 25, 2011 by Kovach_
HotChops
I'd say the physics need work; when he uses the grenade launcher, the concussive force seems very last gen. Some of the character animations are a bit clunky -- such as when the enemies die or attack. Or maybe it all just seems assy compared to the gorgeous cutscenes
Faiblesse Des Sens
So i just watched that gameplay video Dean posted... I sure as hell hope that regeneration was due to an augmentation. A very expensive one. One that you can't get at the beginning of the game. according to one of the devs there's something like a 7 second delay on when regen starts on hard mode and it takes nearly 30 seconds to fill your health. he posted very exact numbers on a forum but i cant remember where i saw the post. Kovach_
Oh, so we're gonna have people telling us that the game is about ~60h long, when in fact it's more like 20h + regen wait time. Great.

Cyber Rat
Life imitates Art Or rather game imitates Art Director. Not really unheard of. Max Payne's looks were based on the writer (MP1) and the producer (MP2) for example.
Kovach_
I think the new Dante is based on a developer or something as well.
toxicitizen
Yeah, it seems to be pretty common practice for devs to model a character after a member of their team. A few years ago, a friend of mine went to a school that specializes in video games related stuff like 3D and graphics design and whatnot, and one of his teachers, a guy who had previously worked at Ubisoft, was a dead ringer for Sam Fisher. Great minds think alike. Though I was thinking it going through the kid or something.
Hot Heart
http://www.eurogamer.net/articles/2011-04-27-deus-ex-human-revolution-preview As has been widely reported, for example, the feature that highlights items of note wherever Jensen roams has been made optional – but on top of that, leaping into cover can now be a toggle rather than a continually pressed button

When I imagine it being a toggle, I think of it as being space-bar-toggle a-la Gears of War PC. Probably wouldn't work as you can jump in Deus Ex (unless I'm horribly wrong and they eliminated jumping from HR). Faiblesse Des Sens
I think GTA/RDR for toggle style.
Hot Heart
I'd probably prefer toggle, but the important point to take away is that either is an option.
TheMightyEthan
But hottie, you know as gamers we must complain any time the devs decide to add an option to play a different way than we like. Who cares that it's not mandatory? The fact that it's there means I HAVE to use it, and I hate it! /sarcasm *Edit* - Not mocking the people in this thread, who are not being crazy, I'm mocking people in the larger "gaming community" who are completely insane. Yantelope
Ten things you'll think playing Deus Ex 3 Any positive press on this game makes me very happy. I so desperately want this game to be good. The original Deus Ex was what I thought was a glimpse at the future of gaming. A world where genres were less defined. I hope this game continues in that tradition.
P4: Gritty Reboot
Ten things you'll think playing Deus Ex 3 This is why I love RPS - they're not afraid to be a little skeptical, as opposed to the Kotaku-esque rah-rah before a game comes out, only to pan it or even create controversy after launch.
Hot Heart
Yeah, they're pretty good for that. I know people say 'Eurogamer always give low scores' and such, but usually what they say is pretty true/accurate and, not that I care too much, their scores are usually a good match. Maybe it's just a British thing...
SomTervo
Holy shit. http://www.rockpapershotgun.com/2011/05/11/ten-things-you%E2%80%99ll-think-playing-deus-ex-3/ I am ridiculous excite. EDIT: Wtf, the 'last page' option didn't actually take me to the last page, so I thought I was posting something fresh and new D= what an article though. This game just went to 'looks good' to 'I'm fucking buying this thing' Plus: Damn straight on RPS being amazing! I got an interview with Kieron Gillen back at Kapow Comic Con, on writing games journalism and writing comics- but I haven't had a chance to write it up yet Edited May 11, 2011 by kenshi_ryden
P4: Gritty Reboot
This is interesting: the guys at PC Gamer are doing three separate run-throughs, each based on a different character type, of the first ten hours of Human Revolution and writing up their impressions on each experience. Should be cool. They are also very enthusiastic about the game, much like RPS. http://www.pcgamer.com/2011/05/11/deus-ex-human-revolution-hands-on-the-first-ten-hours/ This made me happy: This version is the first time I’ve been able to play past the introductory missions, and the biggest surprise there is the richness of this world. I’d noticed every office in your headquarters had a name on it – I had no idea you could get inside each of them, hack into every computer and read every e-mail these people had sent to each other. I had no idea the minor subplot mentioned near the start could turn into such a sprawling quest, with dirt on so many characters, secrets and lies to be discovered far from the critical path of your mission. The streets of Detroit are just as full of intrigue, if you snoop around. Every time the three of us talk about the game, we each discover places we haven’t been to yet, clues we’re yet to find, or the full story to something we assumed was just an irrelevant detail. Before the central conspiracy has even got started, it feels like a world full of fascinating little secrets.
