Protip: MMOs allow more than one character on your account.

News from Arenanet! After much deliberation with Activision-Blizzard as well as input from publisher EA, ANet has decided to only allow one character per account. Your character will be the literal representation of you in the Guild Wars 2 universe!

Additional characters may be purchased from the cash shop starting at $19.99 per slot in the United States and €999999999.99 in Europe.

I know, but I typically like to work my way through one character at a time

That's actually a pretty good thought process to follow, at least in the original Guild Wars.

If you're fresh into Guild Wars, sticking with a single character is best since the skills you unlock on one character transfer to all other characters, but only for heroes. Your other characters will still have to relearn/rebuy all the skills in the game, but for your NPC heroes all the skills will be unlocked, which is a massive advantage to your alternate characters.

Arena Net has come out and said that is not confirmed yet.

Personally, I would love to see it go on consoles eventually. I don't believe that putting a game on a console requires to dumb the game down, so if its on consoles the more the merrier. I would also like to see if it does come on consoles to be cross platform. PC gamers alongside PS3 gamers alongside 360 gamers alongside WiiU gamers.

Somehow I find it highly unlikely the WiiU will be considered for a MMO of all things, since Nintendo at this point has the throne of casual console gaming. As for the others, only time will tell - the fact that ArenaNet has not said a thing about console ports is a pretty good indicator that at this point its just an idea floating around.

I think with the d-pad mechanic hotkeys would technically be doable, and you can switch between them on the fly. Naturally PC players have a natural advantage in this field, but its still possible for console gamers.

I think the aiming mechanics might need tweaking though, particularly since the skill videos I've watched of GW2 so far require manual placing of AoE fields and whatnot. Not sure how that will work out on consoles.

Well GW2 having only 10 skills, huge UI, yet beautiful, means that the transition wont seem to hurt the product, so I'm hoping. These by the way are redeeming facts in my opinion.

I know the WiiU probably wont, but I hope that Nintendo tries to compete for a little bit, because it only makes gaming that much better :)

A lot of people say its similar to the way Dark Age of Camelot did their PvP. I've never played DAoC so can anyone explain? :P

I can't say for DAoC, but I read that entire blog, and this is my general understanding.

4 maps, all part of one large map (whether they are seamless is unknown to me, I would assume so), 3 of the maps are called "Borderlands" where each army starts, and the center map which has a huge cap. These battles persist over 2 weeks, every person is roughly the same level, but you don't level up, you just have a fighting chance. (Players who are higher level will have better gear, more skills and so on, so lower levels are at a disadvantage, but not a major one).

In these borderlands/center map, there are forts, camps and towers. The camps provide supply, which make it easier to upgrade forts, build siege weapons, and repair walls. Forts and towers give you points for you team depending on how long you hold them. They also provide armies to help fight along with you.

The forts, towers, and camps all start with NPCs which you have to kill to take over. Then you occupy them and NPC's spawn for your army, and defend the other two teams from trying to cap your fort/tower/camp. To attack a fort/tower, you have to bring siege weapons and tear down the walls and kill the NPC leader. So those sound like a lot of fun.

All this is happening on a single server, with teams all consisting of 100+ players per team. Rumor has it there is a cap of 500 per map, which allows for 1500 people on at a time. This allows for some seriously epic battles. Also the down time between these two week battles will be 5 to 10 minutes. There is a ranking system that allows the worlds to become the best world and you fight worlds who are equal in rating as yours.

Got back from a mini vacation and had a message from Johnny 'bout the beta sign up (as I've been gushing about this game to him non-stop), I really hope I get in.

There are a lot of videos from the beta over the weekend that the press was allowed to participated and video record. Watching some of the videos makes me so excited for the game, its turning out to be exactly what I was expecting! Can't wait to buy this game and hopefully participate in the beta.

EDIT;

If you enjoy the Yogscast crew, you'll love these videos, if not, these are still some great youtube videos on GW2 public beta to watch. I've been watching them almost religiously.

Watching Yogcast is painful. Fun guys, but I've rarely seen anyone with less ability to intuitively understand game mechanics :P

I think thats why I enjoy them. Its like watching a child try to play a game, but at the same time with a brilliant vocabulary and can be very witty at times.
