TheMightyEthan
I like IW's games, so I'm probably going to buy MW3. I regret buying blops. I've liked all of IW's past games, and have not been impressed with Treyarch's, but during that fiasco last year West and Zampella swiped a whole bunch of the IW team, so even though this has IW's name on it it's largely different people making it, which means I'm just as skeptical of this as I am of Treyarch's games. Can
MW3 is being developed by three studios: Infinity Ward, Raven Software, and Sledgehammer Games. Â Talk about compensating for loss. Â Â Edit: Just realized Raven did X-Men Legends, Quake 4, Wolfenstein (2009) and Singularity. Interesting. Sledgehammer is just a new studio started by Activision. excaliburps
Sledgehammer is founded by some of the guys from Visceral - the ones who made the Dead Space series. Â And from what I know, things did not end well.

They've finally done it.  Activision Blizzard Inc. plans to launch an online service called Call of Duty Elite this fall that will work with the next major edition of the game, "Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3," and future installments of the hyper-realistic combat-simulation game. In a move industry executives describe as a first, Activision plans to charge a monthly subscription fee for the service, which will provide extra content that isn't offered on game discs sold in stores, including downloadable map packs that give players new "Call of Duty" levels to play.  They are actually doing it. I don't want to jump on the Acti hatewagon but...fuck Activision!  Rob Dyer, senior vice president of publisher relations at Sony's U.S. games division, said only a few games have the audience loyalty and size to support a subscription service like Call of Duty Elite. Mr. Dyer said he is "very confident" other publishers will follow Activision's lead. "There's money to be made there," he said.  FUCK YOU TOO! Very confident other publishers will follow Acti's lead? FUCKING BULLSHIT Edited May 31, 2011 by excel_excel
CorgiShinobi
The thing is (bear with me here) you can't blame them entirely. A Call of Duty game comes out a year and just as many, maybe even more, jump abroad the wagon. For all those CoD fanatics who'll jump for joy over something named "Elite," Activision has the bucket and stool ready to milk, milk, milk away! Â Also, I have an acquaintance at Activision who is doing the audio for Modern Warfare 3. I can't fully jump on board the rage train when there's someone I'm connected to, at least network wise. Mal
So, does it comes with whatever DLC that may come or are elite folks got to pay for those too?
Maritan
Okay, first of all... Then watch the video: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=g8w82bmRpT0 I can't imagine the kind of person who needs this bullshit, but I'm totally fine with it. Â In addition I want to say that ideally one game every 2 years would be fine. Because Treyarch just can't do at least something properly. Also, I have an acquaintance at Activision who is doing the audio for Modern Warfare 3. I can't fully jump on board the rage train when there's someone I'm connected to, at least network wise. Tell him he needs to work harder. Maybe learn from guys at DICE. Also, if they have Russians as the enemy, they need to hire someone to do the Russian voice work. It's horrible. Kovach_
I'm not blaming Activision. They just wanna make more money, it's what they do. I blame all the idiots that would buy CoD games even if Acti released 5 a year.
Yantelope
COD Elite was the sort of service that I used to say would go away if people just wouldn't buy it but it seems that just 15-20% of people have to buy something like this for it to be profitable. I know that there are tons of people who don't buy map packs but that small % of people who do buy them make them profitable. The strong arm tactics which lock you out of playlists when you don't buy map packs are what I find unconscionable and if that's the way COD goes I'll probably just move on to a shooter that doesn't do that. I finally, after all these games, am finding myself a little tired of the COD formula.

B) Well, that doesn't change the fact that sound in CoD sucks balls. They spend a lot of money, but ON WHAT? They still get their gun sounds from generic sound libraries. Â Oh Activision, you crazy, crazy cats. Why are you charging for Need for Speed Autolog? Most likely because you can. So, basically, they are trying to create some kind of social network based on CoD. *sigh* Â At least I get my CoD dose for cheap, lol. excaliburps
Hey! Thursday Next
Complaints ranged from how people playing it are homophobic, racist bastards – to how their community consists of 12 – 15 year olds pretending to be older than they really are. You can’t escape how their voice breaks out in pre-adolescent squeaks that come out from time to time.  You know these two groups are not mutually exclusive yes? Yantelope
So it was called Call of Duty 4: Modern Warfare. Then infinity ward wanted to call the sequel simply "Modern Warfare 2" but Activision balked at it and finally put the words Call of Duty on the box. You'll notice though that nowhere in the actual game are the words Call of Duty included. The title screen simply says Modern Warfare 2. Now the new game is coming out and the box highlights "Call of Duty: MW3". I can't help but think that the whole lawsuits over the IP "Modern Warfare" have activision trying to fully downplay the Modern Warfare title and push hard to keep people calling it Call of Duty. deanb
It was the first game they wanted to just be "Modern Warfare". Which made sense to them since Call of Duty was World War shooters. Activision made them slap on the Call of Duty name on the final hour since they had the trademark n shit for that. But yeah they're downplaying the "Modern Warfare" quite a bit. Anyone want to have a guess at what games Infinity Ward have been playing lately since apart from the airstrikes and purchasing from a laptop instead of a cockney this article almost reads like they accidentally wrote "Call of Duty" instead of "Killing Floor". Maritan
It's quite different, I think. If they have shop in CoD that doesn't mean it's like KF. Edited August 22, 2011 by Maritan
