Thorgi Duke of Frisbee
Oliver North is being used to market the game. This is the first legitimate time I can say this with full confidence; Fuck you, Activision. Of course you'd use a war criminal to sell your game. At least they got him talking about the subject he's most fluent in, fear. After all, fear is his business, the business of creating false wars and glorifying combat to profit off the deaths of millions and destruction of countries. Yantelope V2
His charges were dismissed though... so that makes it okay... You've gotta love the ACLU.
TheMightyEthan
I think the greatest thing about the ACLU is that they'll defend anyone's rights, regardless of how terrible the person is. I don't see what that has to do with Activision using him as a spokesperson for the game, that's just a shitty decision on their part. Â The ACLU is really a discussion for the US Politics thread though if it's going to go any further than this.
Yantelope V2
Oh I was just saying technically he's not a war criminal.
Thorgi Duke of Frisbee
Of course, but it's very much an OJ Simpson case; we all know he did it. Edited May 2, 2012 by DukeOfPwn
TheMightyEthan
Not a convicted war criminal.
Yantelope V2
Hence the word Technically. Â For the record, Oliver North only makes me think of the Malcolm in the Middle episode where Colonel Spangler makes them sing "candyman" in preparation for a visit from Oliver North. Maritan
I'm sure you won't be alone in that. It's the first CoD that has piqued my interest since CoD:4 MW, but I'm not gonna day one it. Suckers gonna suck? What's so special about it? It will be the same as previous CoDs with minimal deviations. I just hope the map design will be better than in blops. Â "pilotable vehicles and branching, non-linear storyline." Seem to be more than minor deviations from the formula of follow man, shoot other mans + on rails vehicle stuff. Who believes press releases in 2012? It would be nice to have some changes, though. On the other hand, treyarch/IW usually promise CoD and deliver CoD, unlike DICE, who promised BF3 and delivered glitchy unplayable shit. Same here, Ethan. With the exception of co-op, COD interests me solely for the singleplayer. Coop in mw2 and mw3 was great. Completing everything on veteran is soooooo satisfying.
P4: Gritty Reboot
Heh, it was just about a month or two ago that we finally beat the last Veteran mission on co-op. The accursed one in the snow with one player in the AC-130 Gunship and the other on the ground... holy moly it was ridiculous. Â Anyway here's a little vid I did the script for on some of the stuff we know from the BO2 trailer: Â
Yantelope V2
http://www.joystiq.com/2012/05/09/call-of-duty-elite-reaches-10-million-users-2-million-paid-subs/ Â So their subscriptions are on the rise. Whoopedy do. Subscriptions are sold only by the year so until November the only thing they can possibly do is rise. Lets see what happens when all the people like me who bought the Hardened Edition of MW3 don't renew.
TheMightyEthan
Those people will probably also buy the special edition of Blops 2, which will also come with a sub.
TheMightyEthan
http://www.gametrailers.com/video/campaign-interview-call-of/730375 I know it's marketing, so grain of salt and all that, but these Overwatch missions sound really cool. I'd consider buying it at launch if I was convinced singleplayer would be beefy enough to justify it.
P4: Gritty Reboot
Yeah, I loved MW3's singleplayer campaign, but if I had to pay cash monies for it I would have been disappointed at the value. Though I guess two runs through (one on Hardened, one on Veteran) plus the 30 hours I put into co-op and 5 hours of adversarial wouldn't have been too bad of a deal for $60. Sadly there's no Spec Ops for BO2.
Maritan
The most interesting thing for me:So apparently you can exchange your primary weapon for the second set of perks(or something like that) and treat it like commando class from MW2. Oh boy, kids on consoles will be mad. Edited August 8, 2012 by Maritan
Thursday Next
Where are the pilotable vehicles? If it's just remotely piloted vehicles then boo and no-sale.
deanb
There is a lot of live action trailers of late. Also I assume I'm meant to recognise more than two of those?
Maritan
Â There is a lot of live action trailers of late. That's horrible. The trailer to blops 1 was much better. Also I assume I'm meant to recognise more than two of those? Well, Downey Jr., Jack Black and... *ugh* FPSRussia. Don't know the rest.
deanb
Oh Jack Black was in there. I only recognised Downey Jr n FPSrussia.
TheMightyEthan
Jack Black and RDJ are the only two I recognized, and I don't even think I would have recognized Jack Black if I didn't already know he was in it from you guys. I've never even heard of FPSrussia before.
Saturnine Tenshi
I only recognized RDJ and FPS Russia Guy. It was neat, anyhow. If only the games were.
Hot Heart
That's not Jack Black, is it? Can't be. Â I take it that the game doesn't feature (pilotable) jets or horses. Disappointed!
deanb
Wait it doesn't? I kinda assume that with their inclusion in the advert that the game would feature them.
TheMightyEthan
Yeah, I did too. Â I do know that you pilot a jet in at least one level of the singleplayer campaign, I have no idea about multiplayer though.
Hot Heart
Can't say I've paid attention to the game at all (nor do I care either way), I just figured it would be like calling in an airstrike (like with the tanks and such), therefore, they can include jets. If it does, then good for them. I'm just used to adverts lying about stuff.
