deanb
Wave based gameplay, earn money to spend between rounds on picking up items? It's very heavily similar. My grievance is mainly with the article (most people in the comments have pointed to Sanctum though, so at least there's that) than COD. Reminds me of Dean Tak's "Space Marine is a Gears of War rip-off and wears it on it's shoulder"
Johnny
Started failing deliberately near the end, but still... I hate to be a horrendous dick, but huge pet peeve of mine: getting a kill streak on a public match in a first person shooter is not the same as playing on a pro level. >_>

I hate to be a horrendous dick, but huge pet peeve of mine: getting a kill streak on a public match in a first person shooter is not the same as playing on a pro level. >_> Â Because if you're playing at a pro level, you're too busy camping and following the same routine for each particular map as you have done all previous matches because your clan leader thinks that's how it should be done and everyone else is doing the same. Sorry, pet peeve of mine. I've done the pro-gaming thing and it sucked. So much more fun playing pubs.
Johnny
Just because you've played in a clan you're not a pro either. I've played in various clans in different games, and it can all be as serious as you want to. You're not a pro until you're doing it for money though... Which, to clarify, I don't do and have never done.

Which, to clarify, I don't do and have never done. Me either on the last part but I feel what MasterDex said would apply if you play for money. You have to do things that work. They have to make money by winning and doing good. If they screw up, it could jeopardize their job. Its sort of like real life warfare. You screw up, you die. In pro gaming, you screw up and you wish you were dead. Â Edit: Also, I don't play in clans since I like to go solo but I could and love working in a good team. I'm not bragging about my skills, that video shows how you can irritate people with no skill whatsoever, and end the match in your favour. There was a time(first 3 months, I think) when MW2 was really fun. Then people discovered OMA, akimbo glocks, etc... Still, I like playing it from time to time with my friends between BFBC2 matches. Yantelope
There was a time(first 3 months, I think) when MW2 was really fun. Â That's funny because I remember the first 3 months being nothing but Javelin hacks, Akimbo 1887's, care package exploiters, and other crappyness. I still like MW2 but it just seems there was a little too much wackiness. One man army = unlimited n00b tube doesn't help either.

Which, to clarify, I don't do and have never done. Â I've played tournaments where money was on the line. I was never paid a wage or a salary but I did have to work my ass off. I can't imagine being paid a wage changes the styles of gameplay that are dominant in competitive gaming. Anyway, the ultimate point I was making is that getting a killstreak in a pub can often feel more rewarding than beating some team in a competitive game and it's often harder to obtain. Yantelope
Yeah, playing online with strangers can often be harder than playing with a team of skilled players. Every time I get online it feels like I'm the only person with a positive K/D ratio on my team.

It was a bit different on PC, at least in my region. I've got 333 hours in this game, and I've seen only a couple of OMA-noobs(like me, lol). But right now, of course it's all about akimbo G18 and UMPs. Â Yeah, playing online with strangers can often be harder than playing with a team of skilled players. Every time I get online it feels like I'm the only person with a positive K/D ratio on my team. I don't like playing with strangers, it's almost impossible to with in objective-based matches with random people on your team.

MasterDex
I don't like playing with strangers, it's almost impossible to with in objective-based matches with random people on your team. Â It's certainly good to have a few friends on your team but strangers aren't too bad. Hell, some of the time, they're thinking the exact same thing. I've found that some calm encouragement often helps bring those people out of the woodwork and once a small portion of a team of strangers start working together, you often get others falling in line. I've had some great matches with strangers...though more often than not, you're just stuck with people that care more about their K/D than seeing their team win. Yantelope
I wish my teammates even cared about their K/D ratio. A lot of times my friend and I will get on and realize we're the only positive people in the game let alone the only ones attempting to get the objective. Mal
I find myself amazed how low in K/D ratio some people get. I know you can have bad days/rounds and/or bad players but some are just down right dumb. I've seen stuff like 1-20, hell 0-10+ on a regular basis and those were on TDM. Seriously, must be actual 5 years old playing as those folks...
Yantelope
Yep, I kind of wish that COD balanced teams a little better like Halo does. It's either no teams or whole clans and no middle ground. On so many occassions I'll stop and be like "where are my teammates!?" and realize that my friend and I are the only two people left taking on a clan of 6 because everyone else was getting so destroyed that they all rage quit. I used to have a few more friends and when we'd all team up we were unstoppable. I miss those days. Maybe I should get MW3 on the PC and play with some of you people. CorgiShinobi
I don't care as much for K/D ratio as I classify myself as a "kamikaze" type player. When there are times that most teammates don't "click" together, I counter it with drastic measures. Online matches where you have to search and retrieve, well, when I have the object I don't care about defending myself. I make the enemy go on a goose chase and if they kill me, I'm usually right near the goal or I've delivered it. Kinda the point, right? Â Still, in basic death match stuff, I'm not going to clam superiority as I'm usually 4-5 to 5-4. I've had a lot of great matches, but also a lot of embarrassments. Mal
Well, at least its not in the soul crushingly range, 4-5 or something similar then it is fine. Most matches I have is something similar. Just enjoy yourself since it is just a game. With that said, I usually play to stay alive but helpful. However... kamikazing is fun.
Luftwaffles
http://www.giantbomb.com/news/modern-warfare-3-joins-the-steamworks-bandwagon/3626/ Â This almost makes me want to buy MW3 to spite the part of me that is still interested in BF3 (like with Red Orchestra 2...), but then I remember that I am absolutely awful at COD. I think it was obvious that MW3 will feature steamworks support. Btw, steamworks implementation in MW2 was awesome and in blops it was horrible. And I'm not too happy about dedicated servers, it means a hell lot of servers with retarded rules and whatnot. Because of some pussies who force such rules me and my friends have our own "no rules" server in BFBC2.
