Co-op game recommendations

Okay, get this... I was able to get my sister, 5 years older, to play... that's right, Black Ops zombies with me on PS3. My sister who has never played any Playstation games (except FFX and Chocobo Racing) ACTUALLY WANTED TO PLAY WITH ME and even Solo mode. O_O All thanks to the fact that zombies is co-op and includes reviving each other's asses.

Despite sucking really bad, she's getting there and I'm real proud of her *tear*. But now I'm really interested in playing other games with her.

So are there any similar games out there on the Playstation Store? Or just generally really fun co-op style games?

I've always tried getting her to play what I think are great games, but that's just not how you get someone into gaming. You need to be there together with them. It's... it's all so clear now :bun-cry:

PixelJunk are good, Shooter and Eden. Shooter 2 is out now also, and apparently it's way better than the first.

Dead Nation is meant to be pretty good, but I haven't played it, I'm not 100% if it has local co-op or not.

On the PSOne store there's some decent stuff- Crash Team Racing is great fun. Also you might want to look into Little Big Planet 1 or 2? Those are great co-op, and girls love that shit.

Thinking of more but I'm away from home, so I can't quite picture my PSN library...

(Sorry, had to be done).

Trine is a good coop game, not too fast paced and very team-worky.

If she's into the rough stuff then Shank is a pretty cool side scrolling beat/shoot 'em up.

Little Big Planet is an obvious choice too.

It sucks cos the games with local co-op this gen you can count on Anne Boleyns fingers.

LBP(2) is the go to game I'd say for co-op, but be aware that the life system sucks. (maybe changed in 2, not yet played it, but it gives you 3 lives, no matter how many are playing)

RagDoll Kung-Fu as far as I'm aware is free, that's kind of a whacky game to play.

Worms is always a good call, pretty fun. Just make sure it's a 2D one.

I think RDKF was only free in the US. It's really fun local competitive but there's not really any co-op, I don't think (possibly 2v2 normal battle allows AI and two people).

Might be a bit tricky for young'uns but Lara Croft and the Guardian of Light is really good.

LittleBigPlanet 2 is a definite though.

Marvel: Ultimate Alliance 2 might be fun enough if you like that sort of thing and can find it cheap.

PixelJunk Games are good (can get frustrating for some)

LBP's always a good suggestion

I agree RE5 is a good suggestion.

KZ3 I'm going to try local co-op but it could be alright (trophies).

Dead Nation gets pretty hard towards the final chapters (depending on difficulty). it's insanely fun but depends on frustration levels and the time you play.

Borderlands isn't too bad for local co-op

Brink is going to be one to look for co-op. SP in that game is just pointless really.

What about Vs games like fighters? MvC3, Tekken 5 on the PSN, SC4 are all good fun. I'd recommend Blazblue:CS and SSF4 too.

Naruto is fun the same vein.

There's more but I can't remember them all at the moment.

Then of course there's the racers and driving games if those are your thing. Mod Nation isn't too bad in that regards though Motorstorm games are quick load. GT5 is alright.

Woah, thanks for that. That's quite a few, but damn, it really is limited nonetheless. WHYYY...

LBP, LBP and LBP - I see. I don't know. I have Modnation, we played that and it's... boring. Unfortunately, competitive games don't really work because 1) I'll always be better than her so what fun is that? (for her and myself) which is why co-op works because you're on the same team, and that other person can indeed be shit. Heh.

OOOOOHHHH KZ3! I totally have the demo so I'll try that one with her. :)

Then I'll take a look at some others like PixelJunk. Funny that I've heard so much about these games yet I've no idea what they are. Hm.

You've got to try LBP 1/2 to actually get why it's so much fun with friends or drunk and even the online is lagfree these days (It's so smooth, which is a long way from how it used to be when it launched in 2008).

There's more co-op games, you could try Dead Rising 2 if you want but I don't remember if it's local co-op as well. As for fighting games and Vs games I do play the game with people who sometimes are terrible but to be fair some games they'll be good at eventually. Beginner's luck, button-mashing and if you do feel sorry you can always try characters you generally don't play with. The objective of course is to have fun :).

I think Katamari forever has a few two player levels but isn't total co-op like the original ones.

SC4 is retardedly fun to play with a friend because of the whole create a random character option randomizing the way you look and fight.

Personally I did enjoy Resistance 1 and 2 splitscreen co-op as well.

You can play Deathspank and it's sequel as co-op games though the second player just heals or does magic and most of the inventory sorting and the like is done by the first player.

I did get spare parts to play co-op but honestly never ended up playing it...

Are you saying LBP is like ModNation Racers? Because it really is not.

What he said.

LBP is a whimsical, childish (in a good way), fun platforming game. Like the modern day equivalent of old-school mario. Brilliant co-op too, traversing the soft fabric world and talking to crazy characters. There is little to no racing in it. Nothing to do with Modnation. The only overlap is that you can create levels, but apparently in LBP2 there's a good enough game to enjoy without getting into the level editing toolkit.

I would definitely recommend LBP2 over LBP though, even if you can only get LBP2 at full price. There's so much more variety in the levels - in Story mode too, but especially in Community levels.

Also, I can't put too much emphasis on Resident Evil 5. It really is a lot of fun with a friend, and I think the GOTY edition (with a ton of DLC) is relatively cheap right now.

Modnation is really good on its own, but yes it has little to do with LBP apart from the whole "create your stuff" thing. MNR is a lot more competitive for obvious reasons, so it's not very good if you want team-based stuff for you two to work through.

Do you have a 360? Because if so I'd definitely recommend the Left 4 Dead series. Play just you two and forget about the bots if you don't want to deal with online players, it's still a very fun game. Also, if you have two computers try setting up a Minecraft SMP server just for you two on a computer and go crazy. Even just with two people it's really fun stuff.

Shogun: Total War 2 has a really fun campaign co-op. Just make sure that you both roll clans with provinces next door to each other. This is different than the Avatar Conquest or Multiplayer, so you wouldn't have to play against any other people (just the computer).

If she's brave enough for multiplayer, maybe you could even try some Team Fortress 2?

*Glances up* We are still in the PLAYSTATION subforum, right? XD

Actually, besides zombies, we now play Strikers 1945III too... yeah.

Except, she's so frikking attached and addicted to zombies, I doubt we'll move onto some other game any time soon.

I'm hoping Uncharted 3 has split-screen co-op. Otherwise... I will rage. O_O

Also, she plays like it's the Blair Witch Project, it's amazing.
