CorgiShinobi
Don't know what you mean by "developed and removed". I can assure that once Mass Effect was completed there was not a team of people going around CTRL-Xing a bunch of code from the files. What would you call it then when someone can find remnant files of a DLC character in the core game? A slobby job? Is it an issue of having to insert any or all possible add-ons with a path in the system files? I don't program, not one bit, but why would that be necessary? DLC is handled differently, no doubt. My concern for a while is how often is DLC simply, "Hey, see this stuff here? Maybe this could sell if we made it separate?" How tough could it be if sometimes these items are a few hundred kilobytes?
TheMightyEthan
I obviously don't work for Bioware either, but the way they explained it was basically exactly that: they had to have hooks built into the game for all the add-ons they were planning, so that's why there's stuff in the core game files. Thursday Next
^What he said.^ Now whether or not you like that practice is entirely up to you. And yes, there are always discussions where content is laid out and the question is asked "What is main game content and what is DLC?". The issue then becomes, pre-dlc, what would have been included and what would have been dropped forever?
