Think about it this way. Naruto Shippuden is still Shonen, and if that had started prior to Naruto itself people wouldn't think of it as such.

I just feel bad for the author in one sense: JUMP is betting all its marbles on this being the next big JUMP-seller. Bleach and Naruto are nearing their end so they've pushing this like a mofo

The Little Witch Academia 2 Kickstarter is bringing up a cringe worthy but interesting idea to my head: Anime series partially funded by Western companies

It is cringe worthy since it brings with it the idea that a Western company can dictate how a series can be. Imagine a Funanimation influenced anime? However, let just say that the Western companies are just helping fund a project that their demographics likes or potentially will like. Any alterations will come directly from the Western companies (Dub and any censor).

The Western company funding an anime to me is the interesting part and I don't think it happening right now. It would mean that folks outside of Japan can now have a voice in what can pop out. As of right now we are just skimming off what the Japanese like. What we like are potentially localized. For a game example that is sort of similar, think XSEED. They are getting what are popular and localize them.

In addition, an anime series partially funded by a Western company could in theory be released simultaneously or near the JPN release. If broadcasted... the West can do a Netflix stream.

I'm getting hungry so ending it here... Interesting (Half baked) idea, yes/no?

Edit: Hrmm, I'm not sure how Cruncyroll plays into this now that I think about it. They do release streams with subs on newly released series as well. Some sub groups uses those subs.

One of my biggest desires out of anime is to see a good detective noir anime maybe sci fi. Like Bladerunner meets Sherlock Holmes. That won't happen in Japan unless they can insert otaku shit in it. I'm all for western companies helping fund anime from talented studios if it means we get more Ghost in the Shell and less harem kawaii moe.

Imagine a good cop drama made my Madhouse that didn't devolve into having a giant pair of tits or mechas.

Speaking of giant pairs of tits and mechas, one of my friends convinced me to watch Godannar.

Though his warning was for me to 'turn my brain off' while I do so since I've got a low tolerance for wacky shenanigans and fanservice.

At least, I do after they messed up my favorite series (RIP Slayers :(, you were the first anime I spent my own money on).

The easiest way to find non-jiggle boobs is to turn to seinen. But recently there's been a trend of shone having strong female characters.

Mikasa being an obvious choice. Sure they made her a bit more sexy than in the manga, but at least her tits don't bounce everywhere.

Forever Dragon Slave.

If I have to say what my favorite genre (I think I hinted at it enough in all these years. Name my favorite Japanese game franchise.), I have to say the Japanese take on Western high fantasy. Sadly, this genre died back in the 90's and now we get slice of life moe, which is fine but it isn't THIS. It is rare to find any new ones.

I seriously got to get back into Slayers. It is a personal sin to not watch it. Is Revolution that bad?

I've been watching Kokoro Connect. I can't. I'm crying like a little bitch.

While we're in the discussion which anime has made you cry the most? For me it'd have to be Wolf's Rain. I don't wanna spoil too much but combine the dying soliloquy of Shakespearean characters with the fact it's a cute fluffly wolf/dog saying it

Like I mentioned I've been watching Kokoro Connect.

Drama and romance anime with a running plot of supernatural.

Basically a club in a school that start out switching bodies with one another as a comedy thing, but then after the first episode it gets really serious. All of a sudden you realize they each have a major fault, either trauma or personalty-fault. They try to help each other out and stuff. I wouldn't even be mentioning it if the writing wasn't fantastic. I also like that not all of the girls want the main guy's dick [just 2/3] and that the drama and suffering is really well written.

Also I feel the need to mention this for the Mikasa fanboys, one of the main love interests is basically Mikasa. She has a bit of tsundere but mainly is a tomboy and when she starts to show her feelings she is absolutely adorable to the point I genuinely said "D'AAAAAAW'" out loud. If you want a Mikasa clone in a very well written drama, look no further highly recommended. You can kinda see her in this image, short haired one.

Just kidding. As for an anime that made me cry... none. I just get sad that they ended. I'll be sad for sure when Rozen Maiden is completely completed. It'll mean the end of the gang... now that I think about it Full Metal Alchemist may have came close. There might be something else too... this one may be happy tears but I forget what. Might have something to do with two separated couple or siblings. Sibling conflict, death and such does get to me.

Yeah... reminds me of me when I was younger, I just wasn't nearly as bad. Now I'm just scatter brained and socially awkward. With that all said... god, I would help her so much. I too had hopes that going between grade levels and such can magically transform you. It doesn't. You have to go up and go back down repeatedly until you get it down (How I got to where I am). Having people to help you really helps too.

GOOD LUCK TOMOKO! ;_;

I personally thought Revolution and Evolution-R were pretty bad.  It's sort of like a not-quite-perfect doppelganger.  It knows the motions, but something is clearly off about them.

My biggest beef is how much more flanderized every character is (I didn't think it was possible for Gourry to get dumber than he was) and how the plot itself is essentially recycled mixture of the first and second seasons of the original series.

Something was also lost in the transition to digital coloring, but that's something I feel toward a lot of anime.

All in all, Revolution/Evolution-R suffer from what I see as 'modern anime syndrome', I guess.
