CorgiShinobi
There weren't amazing moments for you? I think I get where you're coming from, and chances are you'll find it in Season 2 with its first arc. Still, most moments from Izuku/Deku were so amazing. Maybe not always in an action sense, but the emotion you get from him as a viewer. I just love that while Izuku was given One For All, he isn't some miracle child who'll ace everything. That he barely met the physical requirement for One For All and has to use his head more often because currently he can't stop from breaking something. Even though we figure logically he must get into U.A. somehow, the twist about Rescue Points was powerful for me when we saw the effect he had on the other students. That all his effort was not wasted and he can become a hero! Then when his homeroom teacher, Aizawa, is looking to expel him and is so sure that Izuku will fail the final challenge. The upset that Izuku didn't sacrifice his whole arm, but a single finger. His reaction along with, "This kid..." Amazing! Or another on my favorites, when his clash with Katsuki (or Bakugo) during the Bomb Retrieval exercise wasn't about landing a finishing blow, but blasting all those floors out of the way to create a combo with Ochaco's Zero Gravity ability. Then Katsuki's face when he realizes it's not that Izuku was holding back, but he has so much power it can destroy him. toxicitizen
Eh, maybe I sounded more critical than I intended. I really love the show so far and I agree on all those moments you mentioned. They were great and I'd even add the part at the end when All Might is going all out and punching the shit out of Nomu while being at the very limit of holding his form. I just feel like most great shonen tend to have that moment or arc when shit gets real and the show hits the next gear. I'm not sure how else to describe it other than just giving examples from other shows. I already mentioned Arlong and the Chunin Exam. Bleach had the Soul Society arc, and so on. It's clearly way too early for MHA since that was basically just the introduction arc, so I'm not holding it against it or anything. And even without having reached that admittedly ambiguous moment I'm talking about, I'd still put everything so far a notch above your typical shonen if only because of how it eschews typical conventions of the genre when it comes to the protagonist. Deku is basically the anti-Naruto and I'm really digging that.
Mister Jack
As someone who reads the manga, rest assured that turning point you're looking for will come.
Mister Jack
My Hero Academia has a new OVA out. I enjoyed it a lot. I don't know if it's on Crunchyroll since I didn't watch it there, but if you can find it, I recommend checking it out.
Mal
There's a trailer for FLCL season 2 and 3 out in the wild now for AX. I'm still HIGHLY skeptical of this since I believe this didn't need to happen. Also Girls' Last Tour is getting an anime adaption. Trigger also announced three project they have. One is supposedly like Kill la Kill and Gurren Lagann. Hefty goals. Edited July 3, 2017 by Mal
CorgiShinobi
Came here first because I just saw the trailer for the new seasons of FLCL. No joking, today I was thinking about how we haven't heard anything about the new seasons lately. Then this gets uploaded today! I'm not sure how I feel about new characters necessarily, but if it keeps the feeling/vibe of the original, I'll enjoy the ride. 14 year-old me would be wigging out. I mean, half my life ago FLCL aired in the US of A! And yes, Mister Jack, I watched Training of the Dead and it was entertaining. I wouldn't recommend anime-only viewers to watch it though because Izuku is further ahead character wise than his current anime development. Mal
Main thing so far for me is that it seems to be rehashing the themes of the original for a new generation. It leaves the fans of the original (e.g., you and me) kind of on the sidelines. Having a FLCL for us 20-somethings would be nice.

CorgiShinobi
Finished the first Konosuba "season" tonight. Been meaning to see what all the buzz was about, and given that it's primarily a comedy, it couldn't hurt to look into it. For just the ten episodes I watched, it's definitely funny. The amount of gigantic boobs is a bit much, but Kazuma balances it out by how grounded he is by being a realistic teenage male. He's not oblivious and he's not always looking to be the hero. For all intents and purposes, he's living a new average life in a fantasy world. Yeah he's got powerful allies, but their incompetence balances out their potential in being a true capable team. My main gripe would be that Darkness tends to be one-dimensional throughout most of the episodes. It sets up hilarious moments when the group is fighting enemies, but Darkness getting all hot-and-bothered half the time she's on the screen got old. Granted, the last episode reveals some character potential I'm sure will be explored in the second season. I'm okay with Aqua, but she is definitely the type of girl you would get sick of being around if she ever stayed on her high horse too long. Because her Intelligence stat is lower, it balances out her capabilities to ground her. Doing so allows Kazuma to actually start arguments with her and berate her when she does something dumb. As for Megumin, she's my favorite. I rarely ever care for loli characters, but she is always a delight to have on screen. She and Kazuma going out to practice her explosion magic was sweet and her theatrics aren't a distraction. I went in expecting to be annoyed by her since she only practices explosion magic, and the biggest one obviously, but the show makes it work. Mister Jack
I really like how My Hero Academia is handling filler. The manga, supposedly because the author was worried about his time constraints, would often mention some minor side event happening in passing but not really go into more detail than that. It was never vital to the plot, but sometimes it just sounded like something that would be cool to see. The anime seems to be taking the approach of expanding on those side events, which is just fine with me. The most recent episode did it and the OVA also did it to some extent. toxicitizen
The most recent ep was filler? Hmm, maybe I should use that as an excuse to catch up. The wait for the season to end is starting to be painful and at least this way I know I'm not gonna end up on a cliffhanger in the middle of a major arc lol. CorgiShinobi
It was fantastic filler. Froppy being Froppy! Though it would have been neat to see a little more of everyone else too.
Mister Jack
I would like to see a Tokoyami episode myself. I love that little Stand using goth dork. Best chocobro. Oh yeah I just remembered. Several of the fights we see in the tournament arc happened off-panel in the manga, so that was also nice. deanb
I like they kinda skipped a shit ton of their weathering side of things, also their blades are really floppy, I'm guessing a cheaper metal since they're making "replaceable" blades. CorgiShinobi
So, uh, I'm not sure what sparked my interest in the series again... I watched The Last - Naruto the Movie. I think because I bother to watch Dragon Ball Super, and I'm subscribed to a channel that talks about upcoming spoilers, I got some Naruto recommended videos. Honestly it was all Great Shinobi War stuff... except for these scenes about Naruto and Hinata's wedding. So being the unshakable romantic that I am, I watched some of those clips. Then I noticed that there was one from The Last. If anyone had told me the movie was basically Naruto and Hinata's relationship while fighting an ancient moon man on the moon, I would have watched this sooner! Not sure what else to say besides it actually being a good movie. The Naruto movies after like the third or fourth were just... whatever. This has a simple premise, in 3 7 days, the moon will fall upon Termina the world. It involves some eye magic, like most of Naruto really. It goes in a canon route though, so it never feels too far removed from the main story, Not terribly hard to do though since this is some years after the events of Chapter 699. Only thing that's bothersome is how they explain Naruto not hooking up with Hinata sooner. The girl confessed like two times years ago and it takes the constant nagging of Sakura and... well, I won't spoil it because I think it's better/funnier if you learn it yourself. Also, I doubt I'll bother with Boruto since we're talking about following kids again. Even though the original cast are still around and older, it's whatever. Now if you'll excuse me, I have to ponder if I'm going to actually be getting that Naruto to Boruto Xenoverse Shinobi Striker game.
Mister Jack
I really hope they adapt the Doodlebob arc. And I know tournament arcs are overdone but I'd love to see the Fry Cook Games.

Mal
I don't think there is ever a month or week that I don't think about Redline every since I watched it years ago. It always somehow comes up due to it's stunning visual design or the awesome soundtrack. Redline is just a melding of things you rarely see nowadays. Wolf mentioned successful movies like Your Name and he pretty much nailed how I feel about them: they feel samey*. When I think of Makoto Shinkai, I think "Oh, his brand of movies". If any of you haven't watched Redline yet, do yourself a favor and at least try it out. It's an amazing ride which wouldn't surprise me if it makes some of you sick and disoriented. *Same deal with a lot of anime shows as well. Sure I like well executed shows even if they're pretty safe, I seek out those who does things a bit different. Not all of them pan out well sadly. See: The Rolling Girls. Mal
Not sure how I feel but it could be fine... there's only one or two points that Reinhard looked like CG. Still...
Mal
Kadokawa commits sodoko by firing Kemono Friends director. This is not tanoshi. Bad move. Dude was a large part for its success. Edit: So, the rest of the staff, VAs and whoever quit. I am genuinely upset about this turn of events. I freaking love Kemono Friends. Mister Jack
My Hero Academia season 2 has officially ended, for any of you who were waiting to binge the whole thing.
toxicitizen
I was hoping to finish season 2 of Ghost in the Shell SAC before Academia ended but I guess I was way too slow in watching it. Fuck holding off, though. I've been looking forward to jumping back into Academia way too much. Gonna start binging it later today. Also, it sounds like they've already confirmed season 3. More anime studios should be this fast in announcing these things. Seriously, what the fuck is up with Mob Psycho season 2 and Vento Aureo????
