CorgiShinobi
The Komi Can't Communicate is fantastic. I know people got upset that the whole conversation on the chalkboard wasn't translated, but really all you need to know is that Komi and Tadano have a real conversation as people rather than him fawning over her as a goddess. MetalCaveman
I would have liked to see that stuff translated, precisely because of how normal it is, that and Tadano's "dark past" would have been fun, but it's not big enough to bother me. Specially because everything else was awesome, all I could want and more, looking forward to the rest. \m/ \m/
Mister Jack
So uh, Jojo part 6 just dropped a dozen episodes out of nowhere.
toxicitizen
Is Golden Wind available on Netflix or do I need to go to Crunchyroll for that and then Netflix for Stone Ocean?
Mister Jack
I believe it's the latter.
toxicitizen
For fuck's sake. Fuck Netflix for sticking their noses where it didn't belong. I'm not subbing to two streaming services for a single show... edit: Just googled it and it seems like it's actually been on there since November 1st. Probably should've done that in the first place lol. Edited December 3, 2021 by toxicitizen

TheMightyEthan
That show will always bring a smile to my face, because of the time Twitter translated the name as "Komi has Communism"
MetalCaveman
School trip 1 getting animated, plus, that chapter when Tadano caught a cold. It's going to be great, I can't wait! \m/ \m/
toxicitizen
Oh my god, why did I wait so long to watch Golden Wind?! The first few episodes hadn't really hooked me back when it first started but I'm on episode 13 now and it's already so freaking good! Even Diamond is Unbreakable took like twice as many episodes to really hit its stride. This series just keeps getting better with each part lol.
Mister Jack
Part 5 was the part in the manga I had the hardest time getting through but it just works so much better when it's animated.
toxicitizen
Honestly, I can see that being the case for JoJo in general. The soundtrack alone adds so much to the experience. I've only been watching Golden Wind for a few days and I've already started obsessively listening to music from the previous parts because of it. I'm still tempted to start collecting the manga, though. And the VIZ releases are hardcovers, too. When it comes to novels I usually go for the big trade paperbacks but for some reason I prefer manga in hardcover. Especially when it's a nice, fancy edition like those Berserk leather-bounds. They cost me an arm but they look so fucking good.
toxicitizen
A little over halfway through Golden Wind and holy fuck does this part goes overboard with Spoiler the death fake-outs. I think that was the third or fourth one so far. I swear to God when one of them actually dies I won't give a shit because I'll have been completely desensitized by that point. toxicitizen
That's Golden Wind done. That sure was a JoJo part! Ended up having mixed feelings on this one. Diamond is Unbreakable is still the GOAT. My non-spoilery impressions are that it starts out really good then keeps getting better but at some point it sorts of plateau and just kinda stays at the same level, which doesn't make for great pacing. That turning point in the middle was the high point and I started losing interest a little afterwards. Things picked up again once the pieces started moving towards the final showdown and there were definitely some nice surprises there but I never became as invested as I was in the first half. As for my spoilery thoughts... Spoiler Araki sure loves giving his villains time-fuckery Stands, uh? That's the third one in a row. I get that he probably wants them to feel undefeatable but I hope he's not gonna play that card again next time... Also, does he have a thing against the french? Dude just won't leave poor Polnareff alone. When he's not forced to lick toilets, he's getting dismembered and trapped inside a turtle. I did lose my shit when this popped up though lol Other than that, it was pretty entertaining but it really felt like he was making it up as he went along. I have no idea what his creative process is like but this one didn't seem as carefully planned out. When Fugo just walked out of the show it mostly felt like Araki just didn't know what to do with his weird Stand. When Bucciarati realizes that the boss wants to kill Trish and decides to betray him, and then everyone has to decide whether to follow him or not, that was a great moment! But it was nothing compared to the reveal of what that ghost alley is in Diamond and the gut punch when Kira murders Shigechi, which then leads to everyone banding together to stop him once and for all. Man, Kira was such a fantastic villain... Overall I'm left feeling like this was a weird rehash of Stardust Crusaders and Diamond is Unbreakable that never really managed to reach the heights of either of them. Oh and having the last two episodes basically be filler sure was a choice. I mean, I think I get what he was doing but it still kinda felt superfluous to me. Oh and I'd be remiss not to mention that I just love it when companies force themselves onto a property that was doing just fine without them and then proceed to do a worse job with it across the board than whoever was handling it before. It was great when NISA stole Falcom's games from Xseed and it was great here how Netflix just couldn't be bothered to do the bare minimum of anime localization. No karaoke subs for the OPs and EDs and no translation for the ad-break Stand cards. And speaking of Netflix doing a great job, there's still only 12 episodes of Stone Ocean out?!? Is it available by uh... alternative means? Surely it must be airing normally in Japan? Edited June 2, 2022 by toxicitizen
Mister Jack
Unfortunately, Netflix has exclusive rights to part 6 which means those 12 episodes are all we're getting for the foreseeable future.
toxicitizen
Wait so it's not even airing on TV in Japan? Any idea how the Japanese fans feel about this? O_o
Mister Jack
Their tv stations get it a month after it releases on Netflix but it's still those 12 episodes because Netflix has first rights on new airings. I can't imagine Japan is thrilled about it.

MetalCaveman
Not feeling that new look for Vash, in fact, not feeling this new approach at all, 3D was expected given the studio but still, not a fan of how the trailer looks, trying to be optimistic about it though.
