Clannad follows the game pretty well, but since Nagisa is canon, it sours the other routes by imposing a limit on relationships. Still watching Nichijou and Hanasaku Iroha. I mean, he literally confesses to the girl he likes, and then runs away. What kind of message is he trying to get across? "I like you, but I don't have the guts to date you."? He is a literal chicken-sh*t. And I hate his effing guts because now he tries to play off his relationship with Ohana as something that "couldn't be helped" because she moved to Kissuiso. And to think this guy has an admirer at the place where he works. Character closure, most of the time romantic interests are never fully developed or the future revealed, it always leaves me with hunger for more. So I just finished Steins;Gate. I picked it up a couple of weeks after giving in to weekly screenshots. I am glad I did though, besides interesting character designs it tells a really griping story. Some things may have been overly prolonged, but it was done in order to give me the sense of anguish and desperation, something the Main character experienced quite a bit. A lot of the times I was confused as to how things were going to get fixed, Time Travel is usually a touchy subject, but it was done so well here. I would highly recommend it! Those are chiefly what I watch, mind you, but Nichijou is more akin to Cromartie or Yotsubato. Really, I haven't found a series I've been emotionally attached to that left me feeling anything but forlorn. That's just how these things work, and I don't think there is an ending that would supplant the feeling of loss. Nearly finished with Iroha. To be honest, I've stopped watching it regularly. Its really fell apart. What started as a unique anime has just fallen into shonen fight fight fight drivel. Also The humour just isn't there anymore. It consists of 'OH SOMEONE DID SOMETHING STRANGE, NOW WATCH PEOPLES REACTIONS AND PLAY FUNNY MUSIC'. I'm hoping the next arc has something for me to sink my teeth into because right now this is not very good. Naruto has a deeper plot and actual deaths (ok...rarely), and One Piece....well One Piece is just awesome but its hard to get into. Also the characters introduced post Saving Rukia arc, like the Viazard and the Arrancars are for the most part, generic and annoying. I heard about the 2nd season too, though I think it was just announced or green lit, so it might be a few seasons till it airs. I still follow the manga for some reason even though it isn't really any better. I actually think the filler Bount arc had better characters than the Vizard at least. Naruto does get a lot of stick, primarily because of how popular is, but I think the political intrigue and actually interesting new characters introduced are far better than Bleach. Also I have to rant about this current arc.... Reveal hidden contents Right now, the captains are fighting the arrancars and Aizen and co in Karakura town. So its all out fighting!!..... Except, Aizen and Co have been trapped in a fire prison by Yamamoto. Ok. So naturally the captains VS the arrancars fight is about to happen right? NOPE. The old arrancar's newly introduced four assistants (Who all have WWWAACCKKKKYY personalities) are fighting other soul society characters. W. T. F. Seriously this is just dragged out garbage. We know the fight is with Aizen and the arrancars and now we have this? Its pure dragged out completely as if the author is going 'ok I'll do these fights for a few weeks and I'll try and figure out whats going to happen in the next fight' Jesus Dragon Ball Z gets plenty of stick but when the the fight with Perfect Cell is set, all the fighters arrive at the Cell games arena and Goku fights Cell pretty much straight away. There is a bit of comedy relief with Mr. Satan to start but that's it, the fight is on. Apart from general WTFness regarding some the vice captain, and captain's supposed level of power, it just really dragged out too long. The arc right after it is actually pretty decent though, I would continue watching if only to see that. While I liked the season mostly despite the fact that I thought the set ups were so much more boring compared to season 1 (chinchiro? pachinko? seriously????) I have to say the end was a let down. Sekiguchi, talk damn you! Also finished Blood-C, I'd like to share a few thoughts! If any of you gave this a chance and dropped it early on, it's totally understandable. Blood-C starts off at a very slow pace, things somewhat pick up around episode 5, but those first episodes are enough to turn anyone away. They basically consist of a simple formula of: "Saya walks to school and sings a song. Stops at a cafe for breakfast and is given "subtle" hints from the owner. Peaceful days at school with cute and odd classmates. Hears more "subtle hints" about people disappearing. Later that night she goes into badass mode and kills some monsters known as "Elder Bairns" (Ancient Ones).Other characters give her cryptic advice/plot development." Add some broken flashbacks all throughout her day and that's the basic gist of it. Somewhere after episode 5 (or so) there's more badass monster killing and deaths. Some spoilers ahead! (No character names) Reveal hidden contents So yes, along with more monster killing comes more deaths. We start off with innocent civilians who get brutally eaten and torn apart (TV Broadcast is censored with convenient "Light" or plain old blur) and suddenly our cast of cute and weird classmates. When you look at how the story is progressing you realize that the deaths of the additional characters are merely for Shock Value. Sure you might go "OH G'DAMN!", but at the end of the day it does feel rather cheap. Somehow though, you're able to feel sad for Saya, she's unable to save her friends while they're eaten in front of her and has to pretend she knows nothing the next day. This feeling quickly disappears when you start thinking rational thoughts such as "I know it's a small town, but how the hell does NO ONE notice the huge monsters and gallons of blood spilled all over? Why can't Saya remember more of her past? What kind of school issues such "Hot Topic" Uniforms? Why does no one question her carrying a (blatantly obvious) concealed Katana? WHY WON'T HER GLASSES FALL OFF!?" Believe it or not, all of this is explained at the end (except the glasses part), albeit there will still be questions about who, how and why. Watching the last 3 episodes was a bit shocking, but very fun to watch. I don't usually get squeamish at animated deaths, but some of the deaths and their believable screaming actually made me feel shocked and my morbid curiosity wants to see those deaths uncensored. This 12 episode build-up for the movie is a good "mood setter", it's clear now that it's not meant to be seen as a series, but as an introduction to the upcoming "Blood-C The Movie". I'm glad I stuck with it, I almost dropped it. This is subjective to people, but the way this story was told can be considered as awful directing. Some would consider it "trolling" as most of the build-up is told through seriously cryptic hints and sudden deaths and everything is (somewhat) explained in less than 3 episodes right at the end. Personally, I can understand this take on direction, the slow start feels worth the wait at the end and has definitely build up excitement for the movie. I also have to mention the music, it's mostly "generic" anime background themes, but throughout the "battle theme" makes some slight evolutions and ends up being a delightful theme, looking forward to the OST! Yeah, the beginning had this really unique sort of feel. I can't come up with words to accurately describe it, but I enjoyed the slow pace, and it seemed more like it was focused on like, otherwordly or occult-ish type stuff. Now it's just a power up shounen blob of laziness. Up to Rescue Rukia arc was best, as quiddity said, but I could have at least had respect for Kubo if he ended it after SPOILERSPOILERSPOILERAIZENENDSPOILERENDSPOILER dies. Also, how is Chad only in high school? Looks like a grown ass man! Like quiddity said, though, for some reason I keep reading the manga. It's just something I've been doing once a week for a few years now, so I dunno, I just can't stop. But it's pretty bad. Naruto is better considerably right now, but I do hope it ends relatively soon. Like, by end of 2012? Oh, and how the heck do you do spoilers the right way? I actually was still enjoying things around 216 (unless I'm mistaken that's around the time everyone starts squaring off in fake Karakura town), and looking forward to a really satisfying climax. Instead I was treated to the lamest arc ending ever and a new storyline that tastes suspiciously like filler. This after Kubo announcing that he wants Bleach to last another decade, or some nonsense to that effect. I've been reading the manga again after a few months break, but it'll never be the same. If he wanted to continue the series with some dignity, the entire Aizen-driven plotline should have been wrapped up in a satisfactory manner, and the series given a reboot of a new story line altogether that incorporates a bunch of the loose ends he left lying around in recent years.
