FredEffinChopin
Oooh, thanks for suggestions! Have you tried Monster, Chopin? Funny, Pirandello. I've been reading Kamisama Kiss. SO MANY GODS. Yeah, Monster is actually first on my list. I'm pretty intrigued by it, I'm hoping it can live up to the solid reputation it has. nyway, I'm looking for something that has a classic detective or cop & robber feel to it. A little searching found me looking at this list, of which I picked Lupin III (already the first possibility that popped into my head, despite never having watched it) and Monster as possibilities. Can anyone recommend any other anime that might bring that sort of aesthetic to the table? Even if it's a futuristic or fantasy take on it, it could be totally usable. Something like Death Note wouldn't cut it, as L looks as homeless as he looks like a detective... I guess this is a strange request, the more I think about it... Whatever, any advice anyone could offer would be appreciated. Emmm, let's see. Cowboy Bebop ....and that's all I can think of right now....oh wait! Detective Conan! On another note, has anyone seen Tiger & Bunny yet? I've just watched the first episode but it seems to be a winner. I feel a little stupid for not considering Cowboy Bebop. I've actually not seen it, but am familiar enough with it's style to know that it could be what I'm looking for. Detective Conan looks absolutely adorable haha. While it's possible that it may work, it seems least likely in the pool of prospects, so I'll save it for last as far as this AMV goes. If this winds up being a failed venture I think I'll just go ahead and do another AMV that I've been wanting to do, possibly a Gantz one. Worst thing that'll happen is I'll have watched some (for me) new cool series. I win either no matter what here ^^
Saturnine Tenshi
In my nearly unrelenting run with Nier, I forgot to download the latest Nichijou and Hanasaku Iroha yesterday. FUUU. I have Yumekui Merry downloaded... but I don't know if I want to start that yet. Poop. I need to find something new.
Mal
Its most likely nostalgia but I say, Inuyasha is still pretty alright to watch. Maybe I should get around to you know... finish it.
CorgiShinobi
I began watching Samurai 7 two night ago on Netflix. I'm on episode 11 now, but man, the editing in episode 10 got kinda funky. Hard to explain, but either way I'm enjoying it.
Pirandello
Its most likely nostalgia but I say, Inuyasha is still pretty alright to watch. Maybe I should get around to you know... finish it. I actually did finish it once, crazy as that sounds, on Adult Swim. Then I realized that while they did finish the anime, they never really finished the entire story (kind of anticlimactic given how many episodes the series ran for). I think the remaining episodes were created and released as Inuyasha: Final Act or something like that. 26 episodes that finally closed the whole dang story, methinks. Anyways, been watching my animes, nothing of worth to report. I did watch the most recent Hanasaku Iroha, and had something to say about it, but it eludes me now. Can't wait until Fall, though, that one's going to be one fun season chock full of stuff.

Yeah, Monster is actually first on my list. I'm pretty intrigued by it, I'm hoping it can live up to the solid reputation it has. Oh my god. I just finished this anime and it is easily in my top 3 anime of all time, along with Samurai Champloo and Fullmetal Alchemist Brotherhood. Fuck Death Note, Monster is the best psychological thriller anime out there.
BrainHurtBoy...2
So, I hate to be the much-maligned 'that guy', but I would like suggestions.... maybe? Gundam Wing Gundam 00 Akira (!!!) Most Ghibli Stuff Summer Wars The Girl Who Leapt Through Time Darker Than Black Monster I'm forgetting some stuff, but I suppose that'll give you an accurate picture of the kind of anime I like. MasterDex
The original Gundam is worth checking out but be warned, you may end up falling into a spiral and before you know it, will have watched all Gundam series thus far. Legend of Galactic Heroes is completely awesome. RahXephon is very like Neon Genesis but quite good so it's worth checking out. Eureka Seven is also worth checking out for Neon Genesis-likes. I could keep going but I'll leave the selection small for now.

Johnny
Oh? I remember not hating the original Last EXILE. Which makes it > most stuff. =P
Saturnine Tenshi
Since I've been stuck at home, I'm on the final episode of Umineko no Naku Koro ni. I only just got the internet hooked up. Plan on catching up with my regular shows.
Mal
My mind just suddenly thought about... a Sailor Moon remake. With all the sequel and/or remakes going on recently, I'm half expecting one in the next five years. So yeah, if a Sailor Moon remake or something like that was announced, how would you folks feel? And just because I can: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=X6_RZhh44NY
「Advent Chaos」
Never watched Sailor Moon as a kid, I don't think any of the channels I had aired it now that I think about it... So hey Nichijou's still pretty fun! Sometimes it's a miss, but it has mostly kept me laughing pretty loud. In other news, has anyone been catching up on "Blood-C"? Horrible start, 4 episodes in and it follows a repetitive boring formula, I was about to give up on it. Ep.5 & 6 have picked up some steam (mainly 6), and it's definitely becoming much more interesting, it's still pretty slow, but it's got me hooked. I can't wait to watch the blu-ray releases, that light/shadow censoring can be a bit annoying. I also picked up "Kami-sama no Memochou", it's... allright, had a good premier episode, but a lot of things feel average. It's well executed, just feels like something we've all seen. Mal
It might have aired at like 5-6 AM in the morning at like WB or FOX during Saturday Morning Cartoons. I recall waking up before the sun came up to watch that and DBZ. Go-oood, I feel old. Sat morning cartoons don't exist anymore... I think. You guys can stick to the new stuff... I think I'll stick with the old stuff.
Saturnine Tenshi
Umineko no Naku Koro ni was... rancid. I'll be honest: I haven't played the visual novel. Still, I'm going to reference a poor transition from the game as the only explanation for an absolutely half-assed plot. What the hell is this, and why did so many people tell me to watch it? Is it only popular due to Victorian frock? Because I like Victorian frock. I don't like twenty-six episodes of it. I feel as if someone wanted to make a Phoenix Wright anime and utterly screwed it up. I'm a few weeks behind in Nichijou and Hanasaku Iroha, so I'm going to take some time today to download what I've missed. Plan on starting Sora no Otoshimono and something I can't remember. Edit: Oh, right. It was Ano Hi Mita Hana no Namae o Bokutachi wa Mada Shiranai. Edited August 19, 2011 by Saturnine Tenshi
Mal
Only good thing I saw from the Umineko anime was the first ED theme. BWAHAHAHAHAHA! And yes, I played the games. EP3, such an ending. FFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFF
Enervation
Has anyone watched Usagi Drop yet? I really liked the manga, but I'm hesitant to start watching the anime.
Mal
Fun fact. The character in my avatar (Pleinair) may be based off the character in Usagi Drop. Though, can't say I have read Usagi Drop. I may since you seem to like it so. In other news of anime. Remember the Rurouni Kenshin thing in the works? Not a TV series but an OVA. http://www.moetron.com/2011/08/20/rurouni-kenshin-new-2-part-ova-series/ Can't say I follow anime news closely so yeah, I'm four days late in finding out. Mal
In Japan, hell... in ANYTHING, "based on" can mean a load of things. In more cases than not, its loosely based on. Well anyways, I think its more of the personality than anything (Can't back this up). That and rabbits. http://www4.ocn.ne.jp/~u1h/ (Creator's website) Pleinair made her appearance back in Disgaea. I <3 her ever since. Edited August 25, 2011 by MaliciousH
「Advent Chaos」
Has anyone watched Usagi Drop yet? I really liked the manga, but I'm hesitant to start watching the anime. I have! Although I have not read the manga I am thoroughly enjoying the anime, it always ends up being heart-warming. I hear the manga was "minimal" in it's art, so I guess you could say the anime is much more colorful, softly colorful. Voices feel right, you feel the trust between Daikichi and Rin, it's just heart-warming fun.

I'm way too used to reading dark and serious mangas with extreme details and shadowing across character faces.
fuchikoma
I loved Higurashi, or "When They Cry." I don't think I'll bother with the newest since it sounds like it'll just be fanservice fluff, but the first season, Kai, and Rei were amazing. I haven't seen much genuinely scary and disturbing horror, and this was not only that, but the way the story was told kept me mesmerized and thinking about the plot right until it was all finished and explained. The fluff/shock balance was really good at getting me interested in the characters as people - not victims, and getting used to everyday life before anything weird happened. I was rooting for them so hard by the end of the series as the pieces came together and I saw what was happening. (Have to be super vague with this show, lol) Natsume Yujin Cho was great too. Very mellow most of the time, and usually touching - at least for me, and I tend to be thick skinned for overly sentimental stuff. Panty and Stocking raised the bar for rudeness and irreverence, at least in the "mainstream." Not entirely shocking though, because I watched Ebichu earlier... Gainax... you're out of your minds. Don't ever change, haha Detroit Metal City... is just hilarious. So awesome. I need to finish watching it. I really enjoyed A Certain Scientific Railgun. Index and Index II were also pretty good. None of them are especially groundbreaking, but it's close enough to original to just enjoy without nitpicking these days. I like the style of those shows and the use of psychic powers and spells is creative and interesting. Lately I'm watching Shakugan no Shana II. It seems really formulaic, but for me it doesn't trip the cliche sensor too badly. I really like that nighttime/urban/mechanica/magical aesthetic that permeates it. It's also nice that given the characters, they don't constantly shove fanservice in your face - not to imply it doesn't clearly use it. I've also been watching Ergo Proxy, which is an interesting sci-fi series that so far hasn't incorporated any really new concepts, but it's presented the ones it uses in a serious and interesting way. I just keep stalling on this series because it's always so bleak and grim. I'm all for thought provoking but depressing stuff, but this isn't that thought provoking, so it just brings me down... So, that kind of skims across the spectrum a bit...
ChiltonGaines
I want to check out C: The Money of Soul and Possibility Control, and also Last Exile. Yay or nay? At Otakon's funimation panel, the guy said if you liked Eden of the East (which I very much did), then C might be up your alley. Man, I just want something to make me enjoy anime the way that Baccano! and Durarara!! did. Ryohgo Narita, do something new, please!
Mal
There needs to be a second Baccano! TV series... I know there are much more light novel material to be used! Main reason?
