BrainHurtBoy...2
Okay, so I just saw the first Persona 4: The Animation. I didn't enjoy it. It's too early to tell how good the characterization will be, but so far? It's not very good. Narukami has no discernible personality whatsoever, and while this might be an attempt to get across the 'blank slate' or very subtle personality from P4, it ends up feeling weird and unnatural when the character has a speaking role. The fight with the random mobs wasn't very entertaining, either, nor was it especially exciting. I'm unsure of how well the characterization will work, as well, because it seems like the show is very rushed at the moment. From what I've seen so far, I don't think this series will be very good. I'll keep watching, though. **Sigh**. The first episode was a disappointment.
Thorgi Duke of Frisbee
Finished FLCL. Man, what a headtrip! While I really loved the first five episodes, I'm not sure how I felt about the ending. I was sad more than anything else when it ended. I guess what I had in my head was improbable, but still, it would've made for a pretty sweet ending. Also, I'm still not sure I understand the significance of certain events and story beats. What I do know is that it was one hell of a ride, and I'd love to watch another one like it, if one exists at all. That female character is so incredibly awesome. GunFlame
I recently just watched the trailer for the Berserk anime that is coming next year. Part of me is pretty pumped because it looks excellent in regards to animation and presentation. But it's the Golden Age again... The Golden Age is a great arch, but I hope that they try and fit in some of the key aspects that they missed in the original series. Like the true nature of the KIng and also, sending the Black Knights after Griffith. But it's going to be (3 movies?), to short to actually show all of that. I think they'll go the Fist of the North Star when they released that as an reworking, and tone it down for a wider audience. Which would be disappointing indeed due to the tone being what sets Berserk so far apart. Not meaning the violence, but just the terror and darkness in the world that is created. It's that, that really makes you route for Guts. Going back to the trailer, I as pretty as it is, it takes away some of the mood that is created by the original hand-drawn, non-digitized animation. The rough styled suited it more, this way it's just too clean... Dunno, I'm happy for more Berserk, but I'm not sure if it is going to add anything to what is already available. quiddity
I read the manga of the Berserk first and tried watching the first anime, but couldn't... I just wasn't feeling it. That said the Berserk manga has been quite sucky for the past year or so(although a year only means like 6 chapters for Berserk >_>)
「Advent Chaos」
I watched P4A episode 1 and I found it very enjoyable. the story's obviously rushed, the game itself takes course of 1+ year, condensing this in 25 episodes is a tough task while maintaining quality all around. The anime seems to include plenty of references to the game itself, opening with the game's theme (Pursuing my true self), using the calendar day by day transitions and the commercial break eyecatch shows our protagonist's (Yuu Narukami) "Stats" just like in the game. I'll keep watching, though. **Sigh**. The first episode was a disappointment. I was actually pleasantly surprised to see that they kept our protagonist so blank and bland, it feels just like the game. Unfortunately this will also confuse people who have never played the game and are just being introduced to it, by the anime. It seems like the anime is trying to introduce new people to the world of Persona, while keeping those who already experienced the game satisfied. It's pretty clear that Yuu is going to grow in character, I'm interested to see what kind of relationships he'll establish and how they'll be carried out, if all traits are worked on we'll most likely end up with a Heroic Sage who's Enthralling, Saintly and Rock Solid. As optimistic as I am, there are a couple of flaws that bothered me, mainly the "Comical" use of expression marks and some sound effects. Was it really necessary to give Yosuke an "air wooshing" sound as he waved? I know I'm being really picky, but it just felt weird and would somewhat kill the atmosphere. Enough about Persona 4. I got 1 month of Hulu Plus and just began watching "Eden of the East". I had already at least 3 people recommend it to me and man am I glad I did. I literary just started watching it about 2 hours ago and I'm enjoying every minute of it. Can't wait to see what happens next.
quiddity
So little summary of Fall anime I've been watching Kimi To Boku - Slice of Life focusing on guy characters for once, and is NOT yaoi! Well as much as I want to like this show, the main characters have been pretty darn boring so far. I'm going to give it one more episode (watched the first 2) and I'll drop it based it on that. Shakugan no Shana III - I didn't really like the 2nd season, but I might as well finish the story. Can't really tell anything about the first episode without spoiling things, but I suppose this season could be good. Will probably watch it to the end. Boku Ha Tomodachi Ga Sukunai - I had really low expectations for this one, but I was pleasantly surprised to see that it pretty enjoyable. Basically deals with anti-social kids who try to fit in. This could end up being pretty good if doesn't just turn into an ecchi fest (which could very well happen later on) Hunter X Hunter 2011 - So I adore the original HxH, and I've been waiting for them to continue the anime. Instead they decided to do a complete remake. Note, this is NOT a remaster like DBZ Kai, it's completely new art, animation, everything. They even changed the voice actors, which I was pretty worried about at first. While I'm not too fond of Gon's new voice yet, Leorio and Kurapika are pretty much perfect. One thing though, it's going at a much faster pace than the original, think how FMA Brotherhood condensed the first 26 eps of FMA to about 10. While I don't mind since I've seen the original, I don't know how good it will be for newcomers. I still hope they slow down the pace significantly soon. Persona 4: Eh, Alright. I feel like they have a lower budget than they ought to, some of the character's faces felt a bit stone-like at times. Not to mention that just every track is lifted from the game. Not that that is a completely bad thing, but I was hoping for some new music honestly. Ben-to - WTF surprise of the season, this is actually pretty darn entertaining. It's based on a pretty stupid situation (freaking lunches) , but its well directed enough to make it interesting. I'd give it a look before completely ignoring it. Phi Brain - Meh mostly, trying to fit in as many shonen like buzz words into a show that shouldn't really need it. Dropped it. C Cubed - Another surprise, from the first episode I thought this was going to be pretty boring, but I gave it another chance and was thoroughly entertained for the 2nd episode. Won't say why its different as that spoils things, but I do recommend you watch the first two episodes before you pass judgement. Has more ecchi than I like, but I'm pretty used to it now. I still have to get around to seeing Fate/Zero and a couple others...
Pirandello
Guilty Crown got put up today. Quite... interesting. Also, I hear a lot of people were waiting for it due to the fact that it's produced by Production IG. Been hearing a lot of praise about their production values, and it doesn't surprise me to see why.
Thorgi Duke of Frisbee
Finished Samurai Champloo. Man, what an amazing series! I had tears in my eyes by the end of it, but I still have no idea what the fuck was going on in episodes 22 and 23.
Saturnine Tenshi
Wow, what happened to this thread? Finished Sora no Otoshimono Forte long ago. Great anime, despite the MC being a dimwit. I tend to avoid shounen because of the utterly lacerating main character traits, but Mirai Nikki is compelling enough thanks to the demented dame. There haven't been many shows that I've felt strapped to watch this season, so I've been doing more gaming than usual. Champloo was great. Honestly, it's all very blurry, but what I remember was sure neat. The music, too.
excel_excel
So I really need to watch some more anime god, but I never seem to have time....anyway... I've watched Fullmetal Alchemist Brotherhood already, absolutely brilliant, but I'm watching again, this time the dubbed version with the girlfriend. God damn the dub is PERFECT. I'm enjoying it more, the delivery of some scenes just gets me everytime. They even have proper swearing (awesome moment when Hawkeye screams at Lust "YOU BIIIIITTTCCCHHHH") unlike the original series dub. Took her a while to truly get into it (I think she was pretending not to enjoy it that much to annoy me ). Watching it again really shows how well paced the show is, there's always something happening, always a cliff hanger that leaves you begging for more but it never feels like they hold stuff back, some episodes are almost filled with too much stuff happening! As a past FMA fan I actually had some problems with Brotherhood's pacing, sometimes though not always. I need to give the dub more tries seeing as I just sort of disconnected from FMA as soon as it stopped airing on Japan. So I started "Honey and Clover", heard some people talk good about it, buuuuut.... It's a romance anime and that always means I'll end up regretting it, not to mention Valentine's is coming up. Bah whatever, let's do this!
CorgiShinobi
Could we maybe, perhaps, you know, discuss manga as well? Seriously, some serious stuff has gone down in the last few chapters of Naruto. Oh, and I guess Bleach is in its "final arc."

Seriously, some serious stuff has gone down in the last few chapters of Naruto. Oh, and I guess Bleach is in its "final arc." I keep telling myself "one of these days I'll catch up with everything Naruto & Bleach" but then... VIDEOGAEMZ. I heard about Bleach's final chapter, seems to be true or something, some sort of huuuuge war happening right? I was thinking maybe a separate "Manga Discussion" thread, but maybe it's not really necessary.
MasterDex
I'd suggest using spoilers at least when talking about mangas like Bleach and Naruto that are ahead of the animes. I don't read the Bleach manga, I just watch the show so I'm back at the start of the Fullbring Arc.
Johnny
Definitely. This is an anime thread, not a manga thread. Can't expect people in here to have read the mangas.
Saturnine Tenshi
ALL THE SPOILERS HERE! I haven't been watching much lately. Some Mirai Nikki and Nisemonogatari. Oh, and Papa no Iukoto. I have a ton of series prepared: Amagami SS, Mawarun Penguindrum, Tamayura Hitotose, Shinryaku! Ika Musume 2, the list goes on. Need to get back to watching more. Little Pirate
Did someone say Berserk~? I am too anxious for the new anime. It's gonna follow the manga much more closely. So instead of just starting with Griffith and Guts battles through the ages then dumping Eclipse on you out of nowhere, they're going to actually get into the whole Behilit thing to start. Puck finally makes an appearance, too.
Mal
After watching The Borrower Arrietty... Ghibli films sure make me feel mellow and sort of sad. Now I am going to try to draw up a scenery scene.
deanb
Aha! I can vaguely join in on this thread. So other night, for whatever reason, I remembered an old cartoon I watched at my grandmas. After various shots with random strings of keywords: Hana no Ko Lunlun AKA Lulu, The Flower Angel Basically she had a magical flower-shaped pin which would gain her special suits depending on whichever flower she shone in it. I can't remember too much beyond that. Anyone else see it?
Saturnine Tenshi
Started watching Yuru Yuri on Saturday. It's fluff, but it's okay.

CorgiShinobi
I'm seriously going to try and get back into anime. The local FYE was having a "Store Closing Sale" and all the Fullmetal Alchemist Blu-rays were gone. I found other animes, but I've never watched them. It's not every day you get 40% off of... anything.
Dee
I want to get the last Fullmetal Alchemist Brotherhood dvd/bluray seeing as how my two favorite episodes are on that, but I'm not sure I really need it seeing as how it's sitting on my external hard drive... Still, I would consider purchasing it.
MasterDex
The new FMA-B movie is out so perhaps that's a better purchase right now. The movie is worth a watch too, much better than Conquerers of Shambala. I've been rewatching Berserk for the umpteenth time recently. It's going to kill me waiting for the movies to come out, especially since I'm really just waiting for the post-eclipse Berserk to be animated. Also, if anyone is looking for a good show to watch, I recommend Toward the Terra. Very enjoyable.
