Mal
I think I am going to finally watch a more newer anime. Nichijou, I CHOOSE YOU! Main reason is that i had this favorited for a long while so I think I should check out the actual anime. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ApKE01R9DyY Edit: I just rediscover Rozen Maiden... so sad that the story will never be finish. Suigintou is best. Always and forever. Edited June 30, 2012 by MaliciousH
Waldorf and Statler
Can't believe I've never posted here considering the amount of anime I watch. I love everything seinen, hate Moe, and can barely tolerate shounen.
MasterDex
Can't believe I've never posted here considering the amount of anime I watch. I love everything seinen, hate Moe, and can barely tolerate shounen. There's not enough quality seinen these days. I still love a good shonen show though, I haven't grown out of them just yet. FMA: Brotherhood was probably the best shounen I've seen in recent times.
Livingtarget
So for that Zeta dicussion, It goes something like this-> Kamille awakes his newtype powers. Everyone faces off with their arch rivals. Char and Hamman both duke it out and tie, Char dissapearing till Counterattack, Hamman till Double Zeta. Kamille and Scirocco duke it out with Scirocco dying at the end, but taking Kamille with him. Kamille suffers major asphyxiation that leaves him delirious and Comatose till Char's Counterattack, though he has a line or 2 in Double Zeta. The first two episodes of Double Zeta should clear everything up as it's a direct sequel. I'm Something of a mecha purist (meaning I don't watch much of the other anime Genres) so I guess I'll be around.
Waldorf and Statler
@MasterDex: eeeeeh... I'd argue FMA Brotherhood isn't necessarily a Shonen by standards. Maybe by definition but I saw plenty of mature story telling and the fact it didn't have the character start out a weakling then become the most important in the universe.
MasterDex
I agree. I'd still consider it a shounen anime in general but it certainly toes the line. For the shounen aspects, you've got the stereotyping -young and plucky, cool and serious, big and adorable, butch but feminine and so on and you've got the "enemy/adventure of the week" there too, not to mention it's pretty much a coming of age story - Ed and Al growing up to accept reality and learning to live with their mistakes, for instance. I think it's more shounen than seinen in execution but the story dives into depths that only a more mature viewer would pick up on and understand. I think that's what makes it a great anime.
Nipah
Did someone mention 08th MS team? By far my favorite Gundam series (and I just love the military-style Gundams)... and I can't quite put my finger on it. I'd also recommend G Gundam, but only because its completely ridiculous, what with Gundams like the Canadian lumberjack Gundam and what not. Otherwise, I'll recommend people watch Durarara!, as I found it quite enjoyable.
Mal
I'm slowly working my way toward Gundam Unicorn in a month with ZZ then perhaps shoot off 8th MS Team. It'll be slow going but I will eventually get to where this awesome piece plays. With such an awesome OST, it just can't help make me wonder how good the actual OVA is. Is it on the level of the 8th MS Team...?
Alex Heat
Can't believe I've never posted here considering the amount of anime I watch. I love everything seinen, hate Moe, and can barely tolerate shounen. That pretty much sums up my anime tastes nowadays, though my tolerance level for shounen varies depends on how thick it gets laid on. On the other hand, I tried rewatching Trigun recently* and just cringed every time Vash did something stupid. Pretty sure I can't handle stupid protagonists anymore. *It's been six years since I watched it, for reference. Mal
I know I pretty much grew out of the moe/shojo and shonen genres... but stuff like this still have a place in my heart: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wXLf4szPImM I think I'll have to check this one out.

Waldorf and Statler
Today I got my cousin to download Cowboy Bebop. This is a guy who believes Dragon Ball Z to be the most awesome thing ever, and he also loves Saint Seiya and... dunno the name in english, but Super Campeones [anime about football/soccer]. I'm hoping he watches Cowboy Bebop and falls in love with anime and finally realizes that DBZ is nowhere near the pinnacle, like a lot of South Americans believe.
Mal
Captain Tsubasa! If it isn't, I'll be pissed. Also fuck the goalies in this game. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xgJm4-lAKj4
Waldorf and Statler
Yeah that's it. It'll always be Super Campeones to me though.

I think it really doesn't feel very shounen at all despite the similarities you may find analyzing it. Well, the end of Brotherhood kind of gets like that, but mostly it's not very. Waldorf and Statler
Johnny those animes you mentioned are later on. Cowboy Bebop is a good introduction to serious anime. If he enjoys the quirky humor mixed with badass action, he can move on Samurai Champloo. Unfortunately I think FMAB, Monster, and GITS may prove not to his liking
CorgiShinobi
Cowboy Bebop is a good introduction. It's one of those animes that a lot of people can get into, even if they don't particularly care for anime. My father, for what little he has seen of it, likes it too. Livingtarget
Yeah I was saying a while back on Kotaku on how I haven't seen GITS yet. I'll get around to it...
Waldorf and Statler
GITS is basically what you watch when you have decided that Seinen is your favorite flavor of anime. While it has action, its biggest appeal is an intricate story and well developed characters and politics. Not to mention, boobies.
Alex Heat
Not to mention, boobies Mary Elizabeth McGlynn's orgasm inducing voice.
Mal
Ghost in the Shell is one of my favorites, hell it may be my THE favorite anime series and movies. You got the more fast paced series and the more atmospheric, darker movies. Its a great contrast and it makes the whole thing non-stale. For me anyways. With that, I end with a video... http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vJsEYwguuj8 --- http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=oAlztMvvNkk Best super robot anime. Maybe tied with Gunbuster/Diebuster. GaoGaiGar is awesome as well but its very damn long for what it is. Edited July 6, 2012 by MaliciousH
