Waldorf and Statler
Yeah. it's very old school in that remark. Cowboy Bebop is one that stands out for being timeless since it's anime that isn't anime culture [no EEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEH wide-out shout scene]. I've been watching a lot of slice of life and probably more cutesy anime I ever thought I'd see. Don't know if I've recommended it here but my favorite anime comedies now are Daily Life of High School Boys and most recently Cromartie High School. The latter winning me over for having Freddie Mercury.
Mal
Cromartie High School is kind of legendary for that. For myself, its not hard to see what show I'm currently adoring. Baaaaaaaaby, please (don't) kill me for liking this show. I should be pass the slice-of-life animes like Azumanga Diaoh and this. Eh... http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=UI5onnjFERw
Saturnine Tenshi
Cromartie High is great. Slice of Life is pretty hit or miss for me, though. Azumanga Daioh, Yotsubato and Nichijou were great. Hidamari Sketch and Yuru Yuri not so much.
Waldorf and Statler
Funny enough I remember seeing the internet troll clip from Cromartie a long time ago. Never bothered watching it though, shame but now I'm glad because I have something great to watch. Bad part is that now I'm like 16 episodes in. Curse these short episodes. Waldorf and Statler
Damn. I don't know what to say about Gargantia. It is an anime that by no means should it be anything beyond a filler this season but the production quality, the story and the characters have all been top-notch. One episode away for it to end and it has just been a blast. If you haven't seen it I recommend starting now. 7 more days till the finale. edit: editing this to not triple post. BERSERK GOLDEN AGE ARC 3 IS NOW ONLINE :DDDD. GONNA WATCH THE SHIT OUT OF IT WITH MY FRIENDS THIS WEEKEND. CorgiShinobi
It took me 10 years to finally watch it, but I got through all of Trigun! For most of the series, it felt like the kind of anime I've always wanted. I could go on in detail, but eventually I did find myself a little put off when the series reached it's sci-fi twist. I didn't want this to end up like it did for me with Eureka Seven, where everything went along a finely structured story only to have the remaining episodes to muddle everything that was built up. Fortunately Trigun pulled it off, though I can't say I was always 100% when Vash would get so emotional. There are times when you appreciate a hero who understands the weight of his power, but at times it can be persistently annoying (i.e. Aang - TLA). However, you have many strong and interesting characters, like Meryl, Milly, and Wolfwood. The group was superb, and Meryl got me nerd crushing. Some of the villans seemed dumb, like that spike ball Gun-ho, and spinning bullet guy. Plants weren't properly explained, though you can figure that in by how the series is an anime adaption of, what was, an incomplete manga series. Thankfully the Internet is a vast resource of after-series information. Now, I think I'll contemplate when I'll buy the movie, or the complete manga series. THIS WORLD IS MADE OF LOVE AND PEACE!

Saturnine Tenshi
Watched the first two episodes of Attack on Titan. They weren't bad. Melodramatic at times. Way too much of that. And the shounen twat got treated like the little prick that shounen twats are, so that helps. I'm interested.
Waldorf and Statler
Word of warning, since apparently my friends did not pay attention the first time I told them: AoT features manga chapters/full anime episodes where it's one scene the entire time. There are pacing issues later on but it still is a fantastic story. And melodramatic is debatable, but yes it definitely isn't a happy anime. In fact the happiest the show gets is during the training session so if you want an anime with typical anime humor with the EEEEEEEEEEEEEEEH sections you might be out of luck haha
Saturnine Tenshi
I'm not really approaching it as a happy anime. I'm more into the more melancholy/darker plots or characters anyway. It's just that people's reactions are over the top. Like they only have a switch for on or off.
Mal
Everybody besides Mikasa. Of course she does run out of steam eventually (You kind of run out of motivation after a while). For good reasons for both. Now that I think about it, you'll eventually see the main group not getting phased as much (or should). The green people will since they live in such sheltered life. It is almost literally a bubble...
Waldorf and Statler
Yep. Eren and the gang's main emotions are disappointment, anger and terror. Which all make sense in a world where you're the last of humanity.
Saturnine Tenshi
Extremes. Anime in general can be very bad about that. But anyway, I'll keep watching. It's incredibly annoying, but somewhat unavoidable. (Still going to complain when it happens.)
Waldorf and Statler
I think the more anime one watches over another medium the more it averages out. Two things I should state today: 1. Finished The Devil is a Part-timer!. Over-all I recommend the anime as the production quality is very good and the humor over-all is pretty good. Is it the best? Far from it. Daily Life of High School Boys, Gintama and even Kore Wa Zombie Desu Ka are funnier shows in basically every aspect. But the premise and execution of characters is pretty good. I'd say the show is fantastic for the first half. A good point to say it starts to lose steam is when the second female from Ente Island is introduced/becomes a regular. 2. As I mentioned above started to watch Gintama. I'm already in episode 40 something and it has been a fantastic ride. This is one of those shows that is mainly comedy but once in a while sneaks in some serious episodes, most largely dealing with Gintoki and his partners. My favorite character are Isao, Gintoki and of course Kagura. In fact Kagura's and Gintoki's relationship is one of the sweetest relationship in any anime. A father-daughter/partners in crime who are inseparable. Also there's Sadaharu who has won my manly heart as the best anime dog ever. Especially in one of the latest episodes I watched where Gintoki dresses as a Yakuza and Sadaharu dresses as an alien and they have a fake fight. Saturnine Tenshi
Or the more you get used to it. Like the awful humor.
Waldorf and Statler
Gintama has fantastic humor you shut your whore mouth
Saturnine Tenshi
Oh, I just meant in general.
Waldorf and Statler
Oh. Agreed. Like I've stated many times already every time a slice of like anime has a scene where the camera pans out to a shot of background and a group of people scream "EEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEH?!" I die a little inside.
Baconrath
Its fun to listen to the soundtrack before you watch a given series.
Waldorf and Statler
Only anime soundtrack I can genuinely get behind is Cowboy Bebop.
Saturnine Tenshi
More like Attack on Awful. These last few episodes have literally pissed me off. They say talking in that smoke for 30 minutes. What is this, Dragon Ball Z? They're really pushing the whole doing absolutely nothing.
Mal
Pacing of the anime is that awful huh? You could always jump ship to the mango.
Waldorf and Statler
Like I said the pacing is not for everybody. The next few episodes after today's will basically be people talking for a couple of them.
Saturnine Tenshi
That was the last few episodes before today's. FFS. And they aren't even talking about anything remotely interesting or plot-relevant. Just bullshit armchair philosophy and repetition. Edited June 30, 2013 by Saturnine Tenshi
Waldorf and Statler
Depends what you define as plot relevant. But I'd suggest the manga if it bothers you this much. You need to find it interesting to fully enjoy the anime. My friends I showed it to are loving it and don't mind the talking since everything else is fantastic. I have issues with the pacing in both manga and anime but don't worry too much about it since I have other shows/mangas to read.
