I haven't watched any anime in over a year, since I'm insanely picky and I don't have time to do research/my 3-episodes tests so I usually go for widely-popular ones. The last series I've watched were Code Geass (both seasons) and Darker than Black (1st season). I used to like long-running series like Naruto and Bleach but I completely lost interest and don't have time to follow stupid fillers anymore.

Other anime that I loved from the past 10-ish years (off the top of my head):

- Vampire Knight

- Ouran High School Host Club

- Soul Eater

- Death Note

- Claymore (I've been ordered to read the manga as well)

- Nodame Cantabile

- Chobits

- Honey and Clover

- Basilisk

- Lovely Complex

- Fate/stay Night

- Fruits Basket

- Studio Ghibli films (Spirited Away, Howl's Moving Castle, Princess Mononoke, etc.)

As you can see I'm a Bones/Mamoru Miyano whore. :flirty: I also like classic anime like Inuyasha, Akira, Ninja Scroll, Pretear, Escaflowne, Gravitation, Ranma, Sailor Moon, X (the TV series, NOT the movie), Fushigi Yuugi, etc. (can you tell this was when I was in high school?)

Nowadays I mostly like genre-blending mini-series with action/fantasy/romance/comedy/slice of life themes. I don't like moe and mecha, which might explain my recent dry spell. Any recommendations are welcome, so far I only have High School of the Dead from a friend of mine and that was many months ago.

I don't think I have seen any Evangelion, why? D;

My list:

- Evangelion

- Gundam Wing (and G Gundam)

- FMA

- FMA: Brotherhood

- Samurai Champloo

- Death Note

- Ghost in the Shell

- Cowboy Bebop

- Ergo Proxy

Pretty standard list. I need to get on to watching Eureka 7. I have been wanting to watch Naruto for whatever reason, and I'd like to get caught up on Bleach (fuck watching the filler season though, I'll be waiting another year to see the completion of the hollow arc in english).

I started Gurren Lagann once too, never finished it.

Because Evangelion has a terrible, terrible ending. End of Evangelion was a better ending, but was still pretty out-there. I'd say it's worth one watch, but the ending just spoiled it all. I completely expect that the new Evangelion movies will have an equally screwed up ending as well.

I really enjoyed Eureka Seven, though Renton can be a bit whiny, though not to the same extent as Shinji and the plot can be a bit confusing at points, but it generally all makes sense by the end. Just don't near the movie. That is awful. Very awful.

I generally don't care much for shows where the lead character is a whiny pussy. Even if he toughens up a bit later on in the show's run, that still leaves a majority of the show where you have to put up with this sniveling little wimp constantly. I have to ask myself "Why should I care about this guy when there are way cooler people this show could be about instead?"

The remakes are good. They definitely streamline it for you. I'm fully expecting the remakes ending to be bat shit insane as well.

I need something to do, maybe I should start Eureka tonight...

FLCL is what solidified my interest in anime. Beforehand it was pretty much the typical male's taste: Dragon Ball Z. Of course I watched other animes like Sailor Moon and the like on Toonami. Tenchi Muyo had a large impact, but it seems more like I was going through a phase with the show. I mean, I could have easily gave up on anime after watching everything Tenchi, even Outlaw Star may have just been through the phase.

Something drew me to FLCL when I saw the Adult Swim promo. I knew I had to watch it, and watched every episode I did. They are truly six episodes of perfection. Perhaps if I had watched more Cowboy Bebop as well, I would have had a stronger taste for anime in my youth.

Those two shows, I wish more anime were like 'em. Cowboy Bebop comes from a generation of animators who had experience with American culture, and so throughout the series you can see the blending of both Japanese and American.

With FLCL, well, I could write a thesis on it. Simply put, it blends both comedy and adult themes very well. It'll have fun, but if you give it your undivided attention, it has possibly the best coming-of-age story. Of course, this is if you can accept the characters and not become distracted by everything else.

Man, I think my anime backlog is never going to go away. I have tons of old school anime to go through.

Talking about old anime... Legend of the Galactic Heros. Nothing can top that anime in that genre. Hute!

I wish I had a backlog right now. Looking at the 2011 Winter line-up it's looking pretty bleh.

Neon Genesis Evangelion maybe... And with name dropped, we should talk about a different show... NGE starts too many arguments, especially those last 2 episodes :bun-depressed:

My opinion:

The last 2 episodes takes place in shinji's mind. While "The End OF Evangelion" Tells the story of whats happening

outside of shinji's mind.

I'm just saying....

Anyways, just finished Angel Beats.... I think angel beats even more confusing then NGE...

My backlog is mainly due to old anime.

First off... I have a ton of Gundam to watch and not to mention Slayers. :|

The problem now is I can hardly get myself to watch them. Someone give me a recent anime to watch from the last year. I don't think you guys want My Little Pony to somehow get me back into anime.

Also, Spike has all the colors of the quotes. :0

Well, first off, it's probably best to ask: what animes HAVE you seen recently?

You ask a very good question but sadly... I don't have a concrete answer to it because I don't know. I think it been like a year since I watch anything but a few Ghibli movies.

I actually gotten Panties and Stockings lined up... but never gotten around to it.
