Man, post-L Deathnote was not as good.

Yeah, I remembered a drop in quality after, well, you know. Hadn't gotten very far in that part of the show, though. Now that I finished it....yeah.

By the time I was watching the final episode, I was pretty much hoping Light would win because Near wasn't a very interesting character and watching Light outsmart everyone was just way more entertaining

Also, Crunchyroll is doing this holidays thing where they add a bunch of shows on every Thursday until Dec 22nd, mostly stuff from the Funimation deal so far. This week's lot looks like a bunch of garbage but last week they added Ping Pong The Animation, which I had been hearing is great for a while. Finished it last night and yep, that is one fantastic series. The art style was off-putting at first but it really grew on me over the course of the series. If you guys haven't watched it already I strongly recommend you check it out.

I don't know if I want to watch the finale of JoJo, guys. I don't think I'm ready for it to be over... :(

edit: We had a fucking blackout in the middle of the episode! Was only able to watch the last 5mins just now.  -_-

Anyway, that was a pretty satisfying finale. You were right, Jack. Now that it's over, I can agree that the second half of Diamond elevates it above even Stardust. Hell, I think the last few episodes were even better than the showdown against DIO. Oh and I just fucking love how appropriate it was that

Kira was dragged away to fuck knows where by a bunch of disembodied hands.

I knew what was going to happen the second I realized where he was, but that particular detail didn't hit me until it actually happened.

Anyway, so, does Vento Aureo start next week?!

... please tell me it starts next week. :(

Oh and forgot to mention it earlier but I'm a little surprised that

the whole invisible baby thing didn't go anywhere. Totally expected that to come up again before the end but the last 5-6 episodes were so intense that I completely forgot about it. Since they made a point to say it was adopted by Joseph at the end, I'm going to take a wild guess and say it's a future JoJo?

So, this is the appropriate thread to post OPs we're obsessing over, right? Because it's been 2 days since I finished Fate/Zero and I still can't stop rewatching this one.

I didn't instantly love it like the first OP but it grew on me so much as I watched the second half of the show. The hook at 0:55 is just so strong that it ended up really sticking with me. To the point where I'm starting to wish I still had more episodes to watch. :( I mean, technically I still have Fate/Stay Night but it sounds like that's good but not as great. Plus, the cast being high school kids makes me kinda doubtful that there'll be anyone as interesting as Kiritsugu. I just loved how he was the closest to being the actual protagonist yet was probably the most ruthless out of everyone.

Little Witch Academia TV series is out in the wild now. MFW anime is saved yet again by witches

tb8HBJk.jpg

As a side note, the Humble Book Bundle has a Nihei bundle with a $1 new sub for Crunchyroll. I guess it's time to check it out. Getting rid of one more pirating route (this one might be my last one too) in my life might be good. Besides, Jojo is on Crunchy and I'm having issues finding a good torrent of the series.

Edit: Crunchy's website is such a POS though...

Tried re-watching Death Note (I watched it years ago) but had to give up part way through

when Light and his girlfriend get imprisoned.

It started off with an interesting premise but then it kept going and going and going. Do all animes go on way too long? Seems to be a recurring theme with all that I'm familiar with.

Also, I forgot that Death Note is very sexist. Seriously, watch it again but pay attention to all the female characters. They're all awful. Light's girlfriend is just embarrassing but even his mom and sister aren't great. Even the FBI agent lady (Ray Pender's wife) was just crappy. She was going to quit being a bad ass FBI agent so she could be a wife and mother?

Every so often I get pulled into watching a series based solely on MADs. This time it's KonoSoba.

And look, another witch character. One that loves explosions. Since the world this series takes place in is literally a RPG world (it's like a nice Dragon Dogma world), this witch character based everything of her built on the strongest magic in the world: explosion. The problem is that she's disabled for a while after every cast. She's turning out to be the best thing so far in a series based on an self-insert male MC. The show has a case of bouncing breasts and other forms of fan service. Kind of off putting but I can deal with it. Little Witch Academia balances KonoSoba out.

As for another show I'm watching: Youko Senki, based on the manga/LN of the same name. It revolves around a war similar to WWI/II in not-Europe where magic is a thing.

But in the anime, they all get duck faces. At least everything else is pretty neat. The OP by (the overused and samey?) MYTH & ROID is jamming.

And that's the LN art.

Holy fucking shit. This is the closest we're ever going to get to Panty & Stocking season 2. And it ties into Luluco with the appearance of Nova. If Hiroyuki Imaishi and Atsushi Nishigori (formerly of GAINAX, creators of P&S and now with TRIGGER) don't compile this, somehow, later I'll die.

Flip Flappers

This is pretty hard to talk about without spoiling stuff so I'll go over it generally. Flip Flapper is neat anime that caught my eye like Rolling Girls did with its great visual design while managing to remain good (I really did wanted Rolling Girls to be good). Like what is currently out there is airing quality and it blows the socks off most other anime in their DVD/BD form and it really didn't give way until the final few episodes (of 13). The characters and setting are pretty imaginative while remaining mostly consistent. Though, going hand-to-hand with declining visual quality, it get rushed towards the second half with what I believe to be half explored side-characters. The whole story is kind of confusing at times as well but within its whole overarching theme with the two main characters, it makes sense. This also got a good bit of ecchi fan service in the modern sense and in the Sailor Moon sense. I'm not a fan (I'm getting too old for this shit) but the whole package makes it worth it.

If you are interested, the OP and ED really gives a good impression of what you'll find (there are more comparisons but they're spoilers).

Do it for the ED (yes, Hansel and Gretel) and witness the wild ride through Pure Illusion!

Edit: Holy crap, it does calls out a bunch of stuff...

Mother's Basement finally did his analysis video on the Diamond is Unbreakable OPs. Just skip to the 2:00 mark if you don't want to watch the dumb intro skit. Massive spoilers if you haven't watched DiU, obviously.

I'm always blown away by how much symbolism, foreshadowing and sometimes even straight up spoilers they manage to sneak into those. If you like this one, he's done similar videos for the previous parts as well as many other shows. They're usually pretty good.

Finished the first series of Psychopass. I'm to understand that the second isn't worth watching so gonna skip it.

It took a bit for it to fit with me, but yeah turned out kinda good. I did have difficulty following a lot of the names until toward the end which didn't help as it took a bit to understand who folk were talking about. There's also a flashback episode which kinda threw me too. Interesting idea behind it, though I find some aspects around the sybil system should have been explored a bit more. Some was left a bit vaguely explained too though I think it's by design (...maybe not the right phrasing, as in the writers were a bit clueless on some bits too so just left it hanging).

Monkey Trouble's face is appropriate for the series.

Since I'm such a weeaboo, I'm going to drop/repping some stuff that caught my interests.

While I haven't read anything from them, I've followed Made in Abyss creator (Tsukushi) for a long while since their style is so unique and insanely detailed. It's interesting to see it translated into a more animated friendly form. It should be a neat adventure (I'm getting a Sora no Woto vibe) with great visuals so check it out.

The Ancient Magnus Bride is getting a TV anime after its successful OVA, which I heard good things about.

Third. The Black Lagoon manga is back. Hopefully in the near future we'll get a new anime series. Roanapur, the free and dangerous city by the sea, calls.

Lastly, Kemono Friends ended but it has a second season planned due to its unexpected popularity (it absolutely took Japan by storm by the fourth episode). It was a fun and wholesome ride. You guys should check it out. I highly suggest sticking to the 3-episode rule since I cannot blame you if you drop it within the first two minutes of episode one. The only reason it recovered was the characters. Do it for the Friends.

If you haven't, you really should. Back when it was airing my friends, family and I compared it to Dragon Ball Z a lot. Yu Yu Hakusho wins out quite frequently. The big tournaments in them, Cell Tournament in DBZ and Dark Tournament in YYH, really lends themselves to be compared to each other. Sadly, the anime is rather incomplete which brings the third and final arc down quite a bit. It was shaping up to be quite good too...

So, I guess the second season of Berserk is starting tomorrow? I still haven't watched the first one...

But between this, Attack on Titan season 2 FINALLY starting and Crunchyroll finally having My Hero Academia, the temptation to reactivate my premium sub is growing.

Oh and while I'm here, any news about Vento Aureo? I need JoJo to be back in my life. :(
