TheMightyEthan
Does Akira hold together quite well? Because I always thought the ending seemed entirely divorced from the rest of the movie, and it sorely misses that 70% they cut out.
deanb
I felt it did alright. Like it's a headwarping jumble either way. But it wraps up quite well, especially considering in the manga Spoiler Akira is totes alive and leads a faction with Tetsuo against Kanedas faction.  Main bonus is that the manga and the film are made by the same person, at almost the same time, so they're almost adaptations of each other (but one clearly has a lot more detail and plot to it). Like since the creator kinda knows what the important bits are and what characters are fluff it's quite a bit more focused (like I'd say with Tokyo Ghoul that didn't happen at all and it starts to throw way too many people at you).   I would say the characterisation here on the film ending at the halfway point of the manga isn't quite right. which to be spoilers is Spoiler The halfway point of the manga does have neo-tokyo as a sunken city, but it's only a prelude to the second half and not caused for the same reason. The whole fight in the olympic stadium is still very much the end of the film and the manga
MetalCaveman
Finally watched One Punch Man S1+S2, while season 2 was not the flaming dumpster I was led to believe it was, S1 is still better IMO, fights looked better and Genos looks weird in some scenes. Â Hoping for a third season as there's a bunch of stuff that's still hanging. Â Spoiler Will Garou become a monster? Â Is Metal Knight Genos' enemy? Â Will Orochi put up a "fight" against Saitama? Â Plus a bunch of other stuff. Â
Mal
 This is so on point. I think most fan or former fans can agree with most/all things or at least can follow the logic.
Mal
OMG, they found the master to Project A-ko.  There was a planned upscale but now they can image directly from the master for even 4K Project A-ko.

Mister Jack
This is pretty cool. Nioh 2 had Yasuke as an ally in the story and I thought he was one of the more interesting characters in it.

toxicitizen
I really need to get around to watching Golden Wind... Â The wait for its announcement felt like it lasted a hundred years and yet here we are with the one for Part 6 and I still haven't watched it. toxicitizen
Yeah, I don't know what my problem is. I'm behind on every single one of the few animes I watch. I still haven't watched Attack on Titan season 2 and I think I might actually be two seasons behind on MHA...
toxicitizen
Oh wow, just found out there's an anime adaptation of Junji Ito's Uzumaki coming out this year. And it's all going to be done in black and white. The Junji Ito Collection series from a couple years ago wasn't very good but I did enjoy it a lot in a "so bad it's good" way (I actually just bought a bunch of his collections that VIZ has been publishing in english so I'll finally get to enjoy the stories in their proper form). Hopefully this one won't skimp on the budget and will actually manage to do Ito's art justice this time. The black and white thing makes me want to be cautiously optimistic that it'll be the case. MetalCaveman
Watched The Way of the Househusband on Netflix, I saw someone on twitter describe it as 100% laughs, 0% animation, and they're kinda right, the animation style is kinda rough, like a Queen Bee work (if you know you know, if you don't... you're better off not knowing ), but man is it a funny series, kinda want to check the manga out, see how it compares. Â Long story short, a former legendary Yakuza, the Immortal Dragon Tatsu, has abandoned his previous life, and now dedicates himself fully to his new life as a house husband, funny shenanigans ensue as he runs into former colleagues and rivals, def worth a watch... If you don't mind the animation style. Â Spoiler I loved that part where he buys a gift for his wife, a collection of her favourite anime series, only for her to tell him she already has that collection. Â "I'll pay the price!" he says, as he prepares to chop off his pinky. Â They yoga class was also hilarious. Mal
I gushed about Made In Abyss before but I actually never watched it till now and... I stand by the feelings I have for it before I watched it. It's not for the faint of heart (reason why I held it off) but it's so good and well produced. Â Mind, it has some pacing issues and well, look at the cast and guess (it's honestly a massive deal breaker for good reason), but core story and themes are solid. Spoiler I'm so sorry I doubted Nanachi Currently there's 13 episodes or two recap movies plus a sequel movie. Second season is on its way. Mal
 Is this finally it? Some proper adaption of Junji Ito's work?
toxicitizen
36 minutes ago, Mal said: Is this finally it? Some proper adaption of Junji Ito's work?  We can only hope. The Junji Ito Collection was... not great. I still enjoyed it a lot but mostly because of how much it made me laugh. I can sympathize, though. Adapting a master like Ito can't be easy when so much of what makes his work so effective comes down to the static art and pacing of a manga page.  But even if this ends up sucking, I recently stocked up on his english translations by Viz, so at least I'll have some quality stuff to enjoy. I already owned Uzumaki, Gyo and Tomie from a few years ago; everything else is knew.   I'm just about done with the final Dark Tower book, and after reading 4 huge Stephen King bricks back-to-back, I'm gonna want to read something light and breezy, so I'll be digging into these real soon. Mal
The new Mobile Suit Gundam Hathaway movie is quite awesome. Has some of the best on the ground scenes which I think beats out any piloting moments.  Hathaway and the previous (much older) UC films summaries are on Netflix. You'll need them for the background. I highly recommend going through at least them but if possible go through the series. Gundam Origin is also a good place to check out and start but I'm not sure if they are on Netflix but those OVAs/movies/manga are more of a modern retelling of 0079. Hathaway is set 12 years after Char's Counterattack and is part one of three that adapts the novel Hathaway's Flash. This is all prior the Gundam Unicorn. Hathaway is further still than Unicorn. So nothing changed at all, hence Hathaway.  Please watch UC Gundam.      Spoiler Char was right. Mal
So Jojo Part 4, Diamond is Unbreakable. Overall I really liked it and I appreciated that it's smaller in scope instead of some globe trotting adventure. Some of the setup are really fun (stands man). I liked Part 3 and 2 better though. Part 1 is good too but I think suffers from being the setup. Â A few things about Part 4 Â Spoiler They really forgotten about the arrow at the end! It literally gave Killer Queen a new ability! Hell, there was even Kira's father who was immediately forgotten after he got blown up. Â I feel like Kira's father was an ass pull like Jotaro's extending fingers from part 3. The father came out of nowhere! Hilarious and fun but still, out from nowhere. Then the father proceeded to create more enemy stand users. I was expecting a bigger bad but we just got more Kira and his ghost father. Â For the characters who actually died, I can't say I cared for those two. Part of the issue of a bloated cast. The first three parts had smaller casts that I felt more familiar with. Not to say that the core group in Part 4 was bad though. They were great, probably on par with the other crew. They just had a bigger supporting cast. Â Ah, whatever. On to Part 5 which I feel might tie up some loose ends from Part 4.
Mal
This is probably the best English language endorsement/ad of gunpla I have ever seen.  It also opens the floodgate of Tested and Adam doing more since the rabbit hole is deeeeeeeep. Can you imagine Adam getting in on this in a major way?

Does that mean Crunchyroll lost the bid or will they both have it? I know the early seasons are on both but idk how it would work for the latest season.
