Batman Arkham Blank

It's a great trailer, but there's bound to be complaints about the "gamification" of Batman. Apparently, he can now almost "fly" in a combination of gliding and Spiderman-esqe slingshotting.

That's not flying! Its falling, with style!

Massively pumped for this. Its gonna be so awesome. The first one was fantastic, with the only exception being the disappointing bosses.

The sequel looks just....I mean we all know its gonna rock!

I hope they "fix" detective mode this time so its part of the game at all times or so its not so useful enough to use it at all times. I still havent seen what most of arkham asylum looks like.

Oh come on, that is one of the lamest complaints that I've had the misfortune of repeatedly hearing. Just turn the damn thing off!

Its also the first thing the devs talked about changing! So yeah you won't have it on all the time this time.

The only thing that looks kind of lame is that Batman has a 'ground pound' style move.

Don't know why that stands out compared to all the other stuff...

(I was actually going to make this topic the other day with more details, but I am lazy)

Here's Eurogamer's preview that makes it sound quite promising in ways that trailer does not express: http://www.eurogamer.net/articles/2011-03-11-batman-arkham-city-preview

That's probably the Explosive Gel. This time around, the gel gets a lot more combat action.

Riddler has a proper role this time around. Sounds kinda cool. I actually kinda missed some of his stuff last time.

It was kinda lame not to see Riddler, but at the same time I liked what they did in the radio conversations. The last two especially are awesome. Right before you collect all of the trophies, you can see Batman locating Riddler through their conversation. When you collect them all, he's getting busted by the cops.

Riddler: 0 Batman: 1

Batman: *Looks at explosive gel* *Looks at fist* *Back at explosive gel* Hmmmmmm....

*Sprays explosive gel on hand* Perfect. No way this idea can go wrong.

I did play through Arkham Asylum, and this style of game fit that environment perfectly, but now they seem to be opening it up to city exploring, I just don't think the style of game will fit.

I think it would need to some crazy breed of Urban-Chaos/Hitman/Mirrors Edge.

Regardless I'll be buying it and playing it through.

This is what I'm wondering... I've probably missed it somewhere, but why is it called Arkham City? Has part of the city been turned into a new asylum? Or has it just been taken over? What gives?

The appeal to Arkham is that it contains (almost) the entirety of Batman's Rogue Gallery. When he had to take on the place, it wasn't just a few loons, but Joker, Croc, Scarecrow, Poison Ivy, Zsasz, even Bane. Another nice touch was that, though some (important) figures were missing, you had references to them either by visuals or documents.

If anything, using "Arkham" is a good excuse for compiling every villain to take on Bats.

EDIT: IGN does their Rewind Theater for the new trailer, and it actually shows some potential reveals.
