TCP
They don't have a single frame of gameplay to show and this is coming out in October? :-\ Goddamn hate CGI trailers.
TheMightyEthan
I'm fine with CGI trailers for first announcements.
Hot Heart
They don't have a single frame of gameplay to show and this is coming out in October? :-\ Goddamn hate CGI trailers. Seriously, you're supposed to release a teaser and then do a countdown. WHAT IS THIS? AMATEUR HOUR?! That said, kinda hoping they give Robin and Nightwing an increased role in this, if it is supposed to be 'the big finale'. Well I take back what I said about it being too early for anything but CGI. In this case this just allows them to hype it up. Tease it a bit as they work towards October and reveal things slowly. edit: Is that trailer really CGI? If so... it's not very good compared to current-gen games. I can imagine in-game looking a lot like that. Edited March 4, 2014 by Faiblesse Des Sens

Hot Heart
Scan of the Game Informer article, with some screenshots. Eurogamer article that summarises it somewhat. I want this game NOW.

TheMightyEthan
What's the deal with the black side bars that just cut off mid-sentence?
Faiblesse Des Sens
What's the deal with the black side bars that just cut off mid-sentence? Looks like it's being viewed in a guided mode where it focuses on each section instead of just displaying a full page like it was in a magazine. deanb
Catching up on this, quite like some of the new styling, I assume it's sort of set as a "quite a bit after the events of Arkham City" game. Also kinda weird the will is written almost like Thomas new he was going to die.
TheMightyEthan
It's set a year after Arkham City. I noticed the same thing about the will.
Hot Heart
They say the Arkham Knight is a completely new character, but really it's Thomas Wayne resurrected by a Lazarus Pit. Calling it! That or, you know, it'll be the Joker again.
deanb
They've released a proper look at the Joker in the new game:
Strangelove
Do you think the Joker is actually inside the suit or is the suit a robot that Joker controls remotely?
Mister Jack
No, the suit is Batman and Batman was actually Joker all along.
TheMightyEthan
Do people really think it's going to be Joker in the suit?
Strangelove
Naw, I think everyone is just messing around. We all know Joker is going to end up being the Batmobile. Built in like Siri.
toxicitizen
The best serious theory I've seen so far is that it's Jason Todd. Would certainly fit with the guns and red on the armor. I'd much rather a twist like that than a completely new character, to be honest. And they better follow-up on that Hush thing from Arkham City! That's the exact same marketing they used for the red hood to begin with.
deanb
I'd kind of be disappointed if they are saying it's a new character and then it turns out to be Jason Todd or some other existing character in a suit.
Hot Heart
Thing is, what would be the point in a completely new character? Especially if they're going to be the focus (supposedly). Maybe it's approaching it from too typical a mindset, but if this is the final instalment and it all ties into the Arkham stuff, I'd expect them to use something to tie it all together. So either the Arkham Knight is supposed to be something to do with Amadeus Arkham - which links to Quincy Sharp who was mind-warped by Strange into thinking he was the reincarnation, and the 'Demon's Head' who was behind it all - or is a hallucination brought on by The Scarecrow's toxin. And then, of course, it could be a misdirect in that by 'new' they mean 'this existing character has never had this particular identity before' and so could be anyone. Mister Jack
The whole reason Jason became Red Hood was because of Joker, though. That wouldn't work here.

That was my reasoning as well. It would be kinda weird for the main villain of the big end to the trilogy to be a completely original character considering the amount of lore and characters they can draw from. Plus there's still a few dangling story threads they need to resolve, like Scarecrow and Hush. The whole reason Jason became Red Hood was because of Joker, though. That wouldn't work here. Who said anything about Red Hood specifically? Are there any hints in Asylum or City as to whether Under The Hood has already happened in the series' timeline? Been a while so I really don't remember all the little bios and stuff.
toxicitizen
Hooooly shit! I was kinda meh on this after Arkham Origins, it just kinda burned me out on the series and I wasn't all that eager to get another "more of the same" sequel. But goddamn, that was a fucking great trailer. Can't wait to see some proper gameplay footage. I'm assuming we'll get some at E3 considering it's ~6 months away.
TheMightyEthan
Arkham Origins was a different studio, so even though I just thought it was pretty okay (Cold, Cold Heart was great though) I'm still really excited for this.
