I find Chrome having Google Translate built in helps.

I say don't bother. After the past 24 hours Kotaku is pretty much dead to us. Even complaining about it is starting to get boring. I would agree with you, but if we're trying to get people from over there to come over here then wouldn't that make it a little more familiar to them? What would they discuss? I mean the last one was mostly just how Kotaku sucked. Which we have a thread for at the moment. Everything else is just game chat n hanging out. Most of the other threads fill in that role perfectly.

On the topic of 'RPG like elements' added to games if it's anything like Exp and Levelling, then it's not there for adding an RPG like experience, it's there because it artificially extends the amount of time you might play. It gives you a reason to stick around on MP and the such. It's a hot topic of late as it is being heavily abused by game designers. We can all agree that Farmville on the face of it is pretty shitty game. But tens of millions pour hours a day into it. It uses levels and exp to draw and keep folks in. People have things to work to. Be it Prestige, a new chicken coop. Adding in better narrative, characters can be done regardless of 'RPG elements'. While some modern shooters are working their way there I'd hardly say characters from the COD series are memorable. Half-Life 2 does pretty well. Uncharted 2 as well. They tend to focus around a very small cast. As well as hire a writer, that always helps. As for referring to games by certain genres, PXOD reviews will mark out what genres the game tiptoes into.

It's better than it is on Windows. You hit print-screen and it pumps out a print-screen. Windows you hit Print-screen then have to open up Paint, or Photoshop or whatever, paste it in then save the image.

Yeah that chat box is from an earlier leak. A sign back then that they should tighten security. Notice how no one was alerted back then.I stead Gawker just moved to provoking 4Chan more.

Yeah I've filled it a dozen times over.

Yeah it's the two parter. Tennants final.

Yeah I was similar, so I too weaned off my initial dislike of Matt Smiths doctor until I'd given him a few episodes to prove himself. And he did well enough. Btw when you say three specials, does that include The End of Time? Like the year hiatus Doctor Who had while Tennant was doing theatre work. So there was like only 3 episodes that year.

It has Gravatars. So yes, it uses the same avatar as Wordpress.

Lock Stock and Snatch are great movies.

I was somewhat surprised. I came into the series late, getting Modern Warfare when it was on sale. It was very short (they've all been short) but pretty high quality. Then a few months back I got hold of a 360 copy of MW2. Twas shit incarnate. Story was OTT for the sake of being PTT and just felt like a string of incoherent set pieces. There was no slowly creeping through Chernobyl, instead I reclaimed the whitehouse from Russians. It just seemed IW had read the reviews, seen folks compliment the scene where you get shot. The nuke moment. And then IW thought "well if they liked that, let's do it more frequently and bigger!" And it just became silly. IF they were actually attempting to have the game be meaningful in anyway they missed the target completely. Yet to play BLOPs, can't get it to run. I'm somewhat hearing good things of the story, so I am interested.

I think we need a limit on quotes

Also twitter users: Keep away from tweets concerning berries. A knock of gawkers leak is that many users who have the same name and password, or a linked account, are now tweeting a spam tweets about berries or whatever. More deets here http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/technology-11981816

So what mice do you have? Anyone looking into getting a better mouse? I'm currently rocking a Logitech G5 It has served me well the past year. And it's still intact which is good. I'm loving the ability to switch between three DPI settings. Works not just in games but photoshop and 3D modelling as well. I'd strongly recommend it for anyone wanting a competent but reasonably priced gaming mouse (though I think it's becoming obsolete now, isn't there a new model?) Also I thought I'd share this nifty mouse I spotted other day: http://shogunbros.com/ Part mouse, part gamepad. I can't help but feel it'll be terribly unergonomic.

Wait MNC is on Steam now? *points to the sub-forum you're in* DOH! Well Steam needs it! And I guess this thread would be more fitting in general gaming chat. Or the title needs "Steam" in it =p Nah there's plenty of PC titles with small user bases (and steam conveniently has a list of the top 100). If you feel 360 needs a thread like this, then go ahead. But the way console MP games go most users tend to migrate to the newest yearly release, whereas you still have a fair userbase on CS1.6 on PC, yet new releases like Lead and Gold will have pretty small amount of players.

Then keep that thing to yourself or elsewhere would be what Tali is getting at.

So just a place to share any of the weirder elements of the web, to brighten and enlighten someones day. So I'll start with this http://www.whokilledbambi.co.uk/2010/12/scared-dictators/ Cos it's both meaningful and at the same time, fucking hilarious.

This is one of the better write-ups I've seen http://blogs.forbes.com/firewall/2010/12/13/the-lessons-of-gawkers-security-mess/ Their using a fucking 30 year old encryption method. http://twitter.com/#!/crecenteb/status/14323378466852864 Which I'm sure the WONDERFUL FOLKS who provoked 4chan & Co, and the WONDERFUL FOLKS who put up such shoddy security have nothing to do with it.

http://www.fallout3nexus.com/ http://www.dragonagenexus.com/ http://www.tesnexus.com/ For anyone who wants to get started on modding their games those sites are golden. I've only modded Dragon Age to add in a couple armour sets and one of the texture correction patches. Fallout New Vegas I'm waiting on my first vanilla run before I mod it. Oblivion I modded to hell and back when I got it on PC (First playthrough was on Tom's PS3 copy) I wouldn't know off the top of my head what I got. I know one tweaked the UI to be more PC friendly, so smaller fonts, reworked menu. Also Arrive by Ship. Cos I kinda don't want to be replaying the start all over again. With that one you fill out hte Ships ledger for your details. It's one thing I'm concerned with on the new engine, if it'll be as moddable.

I was joking about UE. Cos like Elder Scrolls tends to have massive wide open areas. Oh and Fast Travel. And UE lags like crap when you give it large open areas and it also does the texture pop-in stuff, which would start to grate after fast travelling about. Whereas CryEngine and id Tech 5 both seem built to cope perfectly fine with huge open areas.
