Wow, I sure started a big conversation there. The grammar thing was just a little thing to me. I don't dislike him because he does not use perfect grammar, but it obvously shows he doesn't give a shit about what he is talking about. Mostly the content of those messages are the things that irk me. "I hate cross game chat" and "Portal and Team Fortress is amazing, but Minecraft is ugly legos" seem to stand out for me. Revanchist, you mentioned how him being starred is a problem with Kotaku, not him. I will now direct you to the title of the thread I posted my tirade in. Also, I would live to see an example of him being cordial. @Heart Heart: I derped, but I have the excuse of being on a touchscreen phone, and at least I try.

KingKellogg the Waffle Haggler makes be rage. A few years ago this guy would not have even been approved, nevertheless been goddamn starred. He is kind of a poster child for Gawker nowadays. "This guy is In our top legion of commenters!" He doesn't even bother capitalizing, for gods sake.

All right, after reading the FAQ I am a happy Shaner. They even added a reward to the coaching system! I do not however, feel that a hat is enough compensation to those who purchased the game a few days before the FTP news. A hat is just fine for me though.

Meet The Medic was great, learning it will now be free to play.....presents some problems Valve will need to address. 1.Refunds: Some members of the community are understandably upset that something they paid money for is now going to be completely free. The ways to solve this are either to transfer the amount of money you paid for this game to your steam account or to give you the amount of money to spend in Mann Co. As for retail copies, no idea. 2. Alt Idling: Now that TF2 is free, players may create multiple accounts to basically render the drop system moot. To combat this, make it so that you must have at least one bought steam game on your account in order to activate trading. 3. Influx of New Players: This brings about a large amount of noobs, hackers, and trolls. While the first may not be much of a problem with the coaching system in place (although you may want to implement a reward and a rating system to it) the latter 2 may be harmful. As how to stop them, Valve may want to consider making the game itself only "free" if the user has bought another steam game on their account. That does not exactly make it completely "free to play" though. All in all, I am not sure what to think of this. If the above issues are dealed with, great! I would be completely fine with it. If they are ignored, then I will be very disappointed and may lose faith in Valve's future efforts, especially if any more are to be free to play.

to be fair to the commenters their reasoning for sticking it at #3 was a bit thin on the ground. I know from my recent stint at Reddit that pretty much any link to Kotaku regardless of content is voted down. They massively dislike them.

I believe there was a let's play on the Escapist of LotRO. It did not look very appealing, to say the least. Edit: Free to play game of the day on steam is Spiral Knights. The special offer is that you get double energy today and a commemorative TF2 HAT. NOW OFFICIALLY BEST MMO EVER. Seriously though, would anyone care for pairing up and trying it out?

I have not played either game, but from what I watched of DNF's level, and from what you have told me about 3d, it seems the latter was trying to make that more of a joke, and not treating it seriously. The former seems a bit more serious. Correct me if I am wrong though.

From my experience with DDO: It is of really high quality. Even on standard textures, the game looks rather good. The best parts of WOW, the raids, are one of the biggest parts of the game. The other part is exploring in which you are rewarded bonus exp for finding landmarks, defeating a certain number of mooks, and defeating bosses around the exploration areas. There are all ready a few people playing DDO on here, so it would be easier to make the jump. The paid content is really out of the way, it hasnt told me I needed to buy something using real money in the time I have been playing. Lots of character customization, with different types of each individual class. So that is why my vote goes to DDO.

Just wondering: If a game says you need Source SDK to play, that just means you have purchased at least one game that includes the source engine, right?

Not really. It's still pretty uncool to admit you're a gamer. About the only reason you get away with it around here is cos we're all gamers too. But compared to admitting you like watching films or going and getting wasted clubbing, it's pretty uncool. And funny you mention Kotaku cos it's places like that that make it worse.
