  1. Anyone know how well all those Magicka expansions are doing sales wise? Seems like the developers like their game better than the players.

The problem isn't with the quality of the game, it's with the low value per euro price point of most of the expansions.

I shall be waiting for the big bundle with everything inside of it, hopefully for a good price.

  2. Sony and Microsoft are going to bury this console with their next generation systems. Sure they will get ports of PS3 and 360 games, but as soon as the next gen rolls around the Wii U will languish in 3rd party hell. The controller is kind of a neat idea and I can see some interesting gameplay modes where one person could have a completely different role/perspective than the other players. The whole argument for having 4 controllers on one tv is a bit silly in my estimation. While it is nice to have local multiplayer, most of these games would work fine being played over the internet.
  3. Just got done playing a bit of Amnesia to escape the horrors of studying for finals. Good stuff.

Escape horrors of books. Escape horrors from hideous creatures.

At least you can throw books at the horrors. When you throw books at books, they morph into a bigger book.

I haven't gotten to see any horrors yet, although I did see a box inexplicably move and subsequently scare the crap out of me.

  4. Thanks for the heads up Chrono, I snagged Amnesia and Mirror's Edge. Been wanting to play Amnesia since I tried out the demo.
  5. That Chrono Trigger texture/mod/skin set is incredible. I wish my recreation of Happy Happy Village had a tenth of the fidelity that rendition of Zeal had.
  6. I fell asleep playing Shining Force II. The fight was going on and on and it was late. I could have turned off the console, but was just too lazy and comfortable, so slept where I sat.
  7. TF2! Can you dig it?

    Scrolls

You read the article? You buy the game get a random pack, then you can buy booster packs n such if you want, they're planning on having in other methods of acquiring cards like winning them from other players (optional). Which does make me much less of a fan. I'm the kind of guy who likes to buy the game, and that's it. Not so keen on DLC. Especially micro-transactions. I read an article on joystiq and it wasn't clear if you had to buy the cards or not. The RPS one was much more thorough and disheartening. As an ex-magic player, I hate collectible card games. Trying to build a tournament deck is ridiculously expensive and can run several hundred dollars and then once those cards are no longer allowed in tournaments their value drops significantly and you need to get even more cards to compete.

    Scrolls

Ha. Ever heard of a game called 'Battleforge?' CCG meets RTS. Used to be retail, then they switched to F2P, and the card buying mechanics became more prominent. I was thinking more along the lines of the Magic Online game that has you buy virtual packs of cards to play with and Eye of Judgment that worked with real cards you bought or something. This system reminds me of F2P games that basically sell shortcuts to advance in the game. It cheapens the game by making it less about mastering the game and more about dropping more and more cash.
  10. My cousin had a copy of yellow and I played around with it for a bit. Pretty sure I started out if pikachu, but I can't remember for certain. I love rpgs, but found Pokemon to be way too grindy for my taste and got maybe halfway through before giving up.

Hopefully they won't try selling in-game cards for actual money, that just seems greedy.
  12. Razer came out with a PC compatible 360 gamepad that looks promising and has what looks to be a good D-pad. It isn't out for another month AND the pre-orders are sold out so it may be a while before they are readily available.
  13. Hey, hey, ha! Ho ha! Heh heh heh heh! Hoola, Hoola, Hoola! The Boola Boola Boola! Look who's got the front seats to the Mexican hat dance now! Just like a bunch of spiders in a birthday cake!
  14. As with all grood art, it speaks for itself.
  15. Love em', although I haven't had one since I moved away from my hometown. No decent Mexican places round these parts. The person below me has dressed up as a videogame character for Halloween.

    Steam

Dean, your explanation of the creation of Steam is priceless. Poor guy.
  17. My shocking revelation regarding Mario.
  18. The Dreamcast had a lot of great games on it. Shenmue Sonic Adventure Skies of Arcadia Crazy Taxi Jet Grind Radio PSO and many others... For me it was the last time Sega had games that were worth a damn. I was dumbfounded when I learned that the Dreamcast was going under. Its library was much more impressive than the PS2's for pretty much its entire lifespan. The only thing I didn't like about it were the crappy controllers.
  19. I'm far more concerned about the effects of automobile exhaust than secondhand smoke in public. Like, waaaaaay far more concerned. I just find it absurd how we have laws banning the possession of certain organisms, or their metabolites. If it was a public health concern why isn't the propagation and possession of all lethally toxic organisms outlawed? Automobile exhaust is clearly a more real threat than secondhand smoke, but people are addicted to driving in a way that cigarettes could only dream of. You can hardly blame people for that. The only way to overcome this will be with new energy technologies that can compete with fossil fuels.
  20. One of my friends took a pack of cigarettes that belonged to their mom and we went over to the elementary school at night to smoke them. We were around 10 or so and I remember feeling very light-headed and nauseous after. I never smoked again, but my friends continue to smoke to this day. I am incredibly irritated by people who smoke in public as they are imposing their bad decision on everyone else. It was especially bad at the bus stop I waited at to head home after attending community college in a neighboring city. I swear nearly everyone who rode the bus smoked. There were two heated seating areas, one for smokers and another for non-smokers. The smoking section was always completely full while the non-smoking section would be empty for the most part. This was noticed by some of the smokers who decided to migrate to the non-smoking area. Assholes. It amazes me that tobacco is somehow legal and marijuana is not. Nicotine is a potent alkaloid produced by the tobacco plant to prevent herbivory and is incredibly toxic. It is meant to kill anything that eats the plant. In contrast, marijuana produces THC and CBD which are meant to confuse and deter herbivores. They are also less toxic by several orders of magnitude. Rant complete.

I think the new noun looks like a simile, but handles like a metaphor that is missing a euphemism.

And has a misplaced and forgotten drink on top that I see people do every so often.

  22. Lies! I own an SNES and all the best games except for Chrono Trigger which is too expensive. The person below me is guilty of playing a game on facebook.

    Help!

Is the ignore list not working? I have been trying to use it, but it just says 'user not found'.
  24. False. I'm as right handed as they come. The person below me has never consumed a gaming themed food item before.
