Dunno if anyone still sees this Dark_Malice I'll play Uncharted 2 LBP 2 WipEout and some other stuff that I barely ever go into

GMT -4 and I will school anybody at Venom (I think...I lack confidence).I'd be willing to go up to Flash, but Rapier and Phantom seem to be one long session of bumper cars.

I showed my mom, a casual gamer, the announcement trailer. She was all like, "OMG I want one!" in the same way that she wanted the Wii. I really don't want to underestimate how many people there are find this tablet thing super cool. The problem here is that Nintendo won't have the same hook the Wii had once it was announced. Let's be honest. The thing that got older audiences originally hooked to the Wii was Wii Sports (and by extension Wii Fit). "I can be active, lose weight, look better, and keep my kids moving without leaving my living room!" Now you're telling them to sit down and use an iPad with those buttons and joysticks that were so confusing before, and you can't move a certain radius away from the system. What's worse is that, if Nintendo keeps playing this "It's the control that matters, not the box" attitude, people are just gonna think it's a peripheral for the Wii in the vein of WiiFit. I had to explain it to my mom how it would require a new box which confused her for a bit and wondered why that was necessary. I don't want to rag on Nintendo, but it could be uphill battle turning the curiosity and bewilderment we've seen into genuine excitement. And, finally, the one controller thing really kills the social aspect the Wii has.

On a side note: They finally showcased Project Gravity by the Siren Team http://www.gamenyusu.com/component/content/article/1-news/816-ps-vita-gravity-gameplay-video-and-screenshots-.html Looking pretty good.

I'd be lying if I said I know how much stores make from accessories compared to how much is made from games. If Pachter is to be believed, he said retailers make about $12 from console games (didn't specify portable games though). I think there's plenty of profit to be made there. Would love to see a figure on how much Wal-mart, for example, makes from having people go to their store to buy a DS and come out with a bag of cheetos. Makes sense now why the electronics section is always at the back or dead center of the store.
-
Wasn't shelf space for games that I was talking about. It's shelf space for consoles. The overall profits come from stores selling games and accessories. If those games are being sold online at a cheaper price from day one, then consumers will go there. Why stock a console, then, if all you're gonna do is lose money?
-
That's the problem. They do mind. Retailers never make money from console units. It's usually sold at cost or maybe even a loss. What they really want to get you with is the special cases, the extra controllers, and most importantly, the games. Wal-mart wouldn't want to reserve shelf space for a console when the consumer can get the games somewhere else at a cheaper price day one and they can't do anything about it.
-
Problem there is souring relationships with retail stores.

Game carts look different. They're massive compared to the memory cards. I guess they kinda look like SD cards. Wouldn't be surprised if they are special cards with some sort of security tho.
-
Good news and bad news Good news is that retail games seem to be the same price as PSP games http://www.gamestop.com/psp/games/uncharted-golden-abyss-psvita/91436 Or maybe those are placeholder prices. I don't know. The bad news is that it does seem the Vita is gonna use some sort of proprietary memory cards instead of SD http://media.gear.ign.com/media/084/084065/img_8468986.html

If they expect people to buy games twice, then this crossplay is DoA. I can totally understand taking the WipEout route in which you offer a completely new entry to the franchise but the online connects straight to that of the previous game, but with enhancements like new maps. I could totally see them releasing Uncharted 3,for example, and then a few months down the line release Golden Abyss that connects to the Uncharted 3 online but with new maps. These maps can be offered to the PS3 players by either buying a map pack or buying Golden Abyss. They better not expect me to buy Ruin twice though. They are essentially the same game and should not be sold separately.

Yup, had this as one of my E3 predictions. Still doesn't make it any less crap. And confirming that Smash Bros. won't support Gamecube controllers pretty much clarifies the Wii U doesn't support Gamecube controllers. Period. This could leave a sour taste on people's mouths. Still, I'll wait for more info.

That's gotta hurt. Overall, I love the idea. I love remote play more than I loved the waggle. When I first saw the idea of connecting a PSP and a PS3, I was literally salivating at the possibilities. But, those never came to full realization. What Nintendo has got to fear though is moving that 360/PS3 install base to this new console. Especially the PS3. Next year, Sony can just come out and say to existing PS3 owners, "Don't spend lots of money on a new console, get our handheld which brings the same functionality to your PS3 AND you can take it anywhere you want." Hell, Apple has already started this by integrating Apple TV with the iPad. Really hope Nintendo can bring better differentiators to this console because I still think remote play is wicked cool.

Maaaaaaan, this just seems like the remote play Sony's wanted to do with the PS3 and PSP. What's stopping Sony from making the Vita into a controller like this?

Man, I've come to realize that the one thing I hate about E3 is fucking live chats next to streams. Seriously, what a train wreck of unsatisfied bitches those are. Seriously wish I could've turned off the chat in the gametrailers stream. About the press conference,I think Sony did a good job overall. No "OMG MEGATON ANNOUNCEMENT", but, then again, those only happen in a blue moon. Uncharted 3 was badass, but that was to be expected. I swear I have a man-crush on Ken Levine. Anything him and his team shows makes me excited, and announcing support for Vita ruined my pants. And that brings me to Vita. $250. Great games. Not much else to be said. I'm sold.

Interview with Shuhei Yoshida on NGP Honestly, Yoshida working for Sony is the best thing that could have happened to their executive team. The guy is honest, humble, and is not afraid to say "Yeah, we were short-sighted with the PSP". Hopefully, that translates to better must-have features for the NGP.

A good question is how it's gonna be pronounced. I believe the proper pronunciation is "VEETA" if its similar to "vida" in spanish, but that fact that that rhymes with pita gives me a chuckle. I would prefer "VAYTA" just because it sounds less awkward, but that reminds me how I once heard that that sounds like whore in Japanesse. That also makes me chuckle.

Just got the Dead Space 2 Limited Edition disk used for $35. Had already beaten it but it`s just one of those games that I felt compelled to own. Maybe not scary, but it was awesome. I also really want to get through that Hard Core Mode cuz that`s doubly awesome!

Fresh off the GAF What's everyone think of PSV or PSVita?

http://www.computerandvideogames.com/303338/news/ngp-specs-downgraded-out-in-japan-this-year-report/ Don't know how much of a big deal this is. I'm sure it'll still run great, but then again, I'm no computer whiz

Alright! Here I go! -Bioshock Infinte dated for March 2012 -NGP price will not be announced -3DS 3D Mario game shown -Skype annouced for Xbox live -Netflix to be included in NGP -Battlefield 3 PS3 beta console exclusive (cuz its EA) -LittleBigPlanet NGP shown off, I cry a little -Sony spends time showing off 4 montages because they still haven't figured out no one cares about them -Halo game annouced - Wii2 controller will have screen, mic, camera, and speaker. Only meant to have one of these controllers per system. Other then that the wiimote will still be used Man its hard to come up with stuff for nintendo because they usually tend to be less predictable, even if sometimes they just bomb horribly.

Loved Loved Loved gameplay from Crisis Core although the story left much to be desired. Gotta say though this is looking better in every department, and I can`t believe they originally planned to make this a mobile phone game. It`s massive. Am cautiously optimistic. Also, I should mention that this game used to be called Final Fantasy Agito XIII just for those who are a bit confused.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=uh1jB4hVJRg But honestly, I have 2. I have an 80GB that broke down on me. I was going to get it fixed because my PS2 was pretty much done (although it surprisingly plays a game every now and then), but I buckled and got the slim because I wanted a new controller and the extra year manufacturer's warranty. Maybe one of these days, I'll send the old one in, but I doubt I'll get my BC back.
