  1. Prime just didn't transition the series well and I've been playing metroid since I played the first game in 1988 and I felt Other M was pretty much 2.5Dish metroid which is what I was hoping Prime would be before it was released. In fact Metroid is probably the only franchise by Nintendo that I enjoy outside of Paper Mario and Fire Emblem. And you're right the story isn't wrong, it's just the execution was wrong. I mean it's like well we have two executions of the wickerman one was good and the other was so bad that it was good. Problem is Other M is a bit iffy middling storywise but the gameplay, that made up for it for me anyways. Personally Metroid 2 and Super Metroid were my favourite ones.
  2. Depends though. When will Fables end? Most webcomics and webstrips don't end, Peanuts would never have ended had it not been for Schultz's death. There's plenty more examples Superhero comics are soap operas, they're not meant to end generally.
  3. Not disagreeing with your posts. But Irony!
  4. I mean it is terrible for Japan. However they are the best prepped for this and in a way while this is horrible, this can only get them to build stronger measures which is good. The Nuclear reactor situation well 3 out of 4 are fine. The fourth one is a risk but it could also be extremely precautionary methods. You don't want people suffering from radiation poisoning. Until we know for sure it's probably best to find out what really happened there. The fires on the other hand are a major issue since it's hard to put them all out quickly in a situation like this. Hope everyone's loved ones are fine. What concerns me is the actual impact of this. Last year's Chilean earthquake knocked off a few microseconds from our rotational time. This time we've had two earthquakes on the same tectonic plate and there was an Earthquake at the same time as Japan in the Burmese-Chinese border which measured as much as the Japanese aftershocks. True Polar wander is no laughing matter, it will happen at some point and I'm just concerned if increasing earthquakes along a particular area is a starter signal for something. The plates moved by a few 100 metres in this earthquake. That's what made the Tsunamis worse. We still don't have a clear assessment of how that's going to affect the region and also on the larger scale the planet. It's also annoying that the moon is moving away ever so slightly (though it will take 1000s of years for it actually cause a problem). There's a lot of interdependent factors in this and we're still really lacking info. The sad thing about the studies is the amount of pseudoscience the field attracts.
  5. For those on the fence about Wet. I got it for £5. That's the best price for it in my eyes. The game isn't terrible, but it's not well-made. It has an interesting style however. It is short though. I mean if they could've worked on it a bit more, it would have been a much more enjoyable game.
  6. Infamous 2 behind the music. Qore Exclusive http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=dYnDLJE4BuI It's 9 minutes long. There's no Amon Tobin this time. But Jim Dooley returns. He scored for Infamous along with Tobin last time. His recent works include Epic Mickey, Spider-Man Shattered Dimensions. He works a lot with Hans Zimmer (worked in his Studio and worked on Black Hawk Down, PoTC, etc). This time he's working with Brian Mantia and Galactic. I've a thing for musical scores. Edited to add menu music
  7. Yeah I did wonder but the view image as a new tab worked. I've got to try it out again. P.S. Do you think we could have like more official threads for games where all the info about the game is pretty much up on the first page? Screenshots, gameplay videos and what not. I mean the newsfeed is good and all, but if we could have all the info about the game on the first post then it'd be easy to know what the game was about and then we could just discuss about the game and not info about the game? I can do it for some games that I'm interested in. I've got one for infamous 2 which I'll post closer to release
  8. That's pretty cool of you. But yeah I mean it is obvious about the PC stance. I'm sure steam makes a lot of money off of PC sales (gives pubs good money too) and PC gaming is not dying. But there's more to making money from a game than just selling the game . I mean in films, there's so much more ways of making money from a film besides just cinema releases and DVD sales so it should apply to gaming as well.
  9. @Strangelove:Maybe it's the execution? Or maybe you need to relieve stress. I do admit that God of War did take violence to a different level. Not to mention while Kratos isn't well liked, his enemies are usually far worse though it is sort of fitting within Greek Mythos.
    1. Cyber Rat

      Cyber Rat

I am liking the sound of that game more and more.

    2. toxicitizen

      toxicitizen

As far as this game is concerned, I threw "cautious optimism" out the window long ago and entered full-blown hype mode. And so far they've given no reason to question the wisdom of that decision. :D

If it ends up sucking, I think I might have to kill myself. Seriously.

  10. You really can't take MK seriously. There's a total lack of suspension of disbelief. Unless one feels that 3 skulls and four ribcages are normal. The new game is different but it's still surreal. Games are always in a controlled environment regardless and so suspension of disbelief can be toyed with and very rarely do they get to disturbing levels. Real world violence is not controlled like in a film or a game, it happens and leaves you dumbstruck and quiet. This is why I really want an end to 24-7 news channels showing us scenes of carnage over and over again. Because that 'News' will desensitize us more than any film or game ever can.
  11. Jobs keep people employed. Movies like these keep kids happy and hey these movies will be part of the day and date home-viewing rollout that is set to happen. What I mean is that not all families can afford to go to the cinemas and for huge families there's a lot of logistics. Four studios have already started to work on day and date digital streaming of these movies at the price of 2 adult tickets. These movies would fit that market. At least I'm glad that to an extent some of the cross-platform ideas are dead because now I can work on some other ideas for a change . Edit: I think one of the better Disney movies this year will the Winnie the Pooh movie since it's pretty much created in the vein of the old movie.
  12. @CyberRat I'll give you a few reasons not to support EA on the PC. Outside of Battlefield and the Maxis games, any multiplatform game is built with the console in mind and not the PC. There will also be no DLC released for games like Hot Pursuit, Dead Space 2. Of course they pull various shenanigans on steam. I honestly don't believe Gibaeu when he says that they will support the PC a lot. I believe that's mostly the Maxis, Playfish part speaking. Other than it's also the fact that they have two major MMOs coming up. if they don't say they like PC gamers then who're they even marketing those games to? The games are of course The Old Republic and the Funcom developed but EA published The Secret World. Maybe in the last year of the console life-cycle? Or is that approaching and that's why the comment? You can tell from where their focus is these days. Hot Pursuit PC version wasn't on par with the console version at launch. Dragon Age 2 does have issues. 1) A high texture pack released after release, 2)The game doesn't run well on Nvidia cards. I wonder why ATi Cards have lesser issues. 3)Crashes and closure of the editor (you can understand the lack of the editor though). I won't really speak of Bulletstorm because that was externally developed. It's like blaming EA for Rockband. Also I don't think EA can ban you from DA2 if your game was on a console since it would be linked to your EA-PSN profile even if they ban you on the forum (ban your EA-Bioware profile). Though I could be wrong, maybe someone will test that out.
  13. I think it has to do with the way EA accounts are set-up as well. EA accounts are somewhat similar to Fileplanet accounts. You used to have multiple accounts depending on the game and what you signed in from. For instance I used to have many accounts: Spore account because I played the creature creator demo before release Dragon Age Journeys account PC regular account Bioware account PSN account Xbox live linked account Few more I can't remember but tied to specific games All of these are tied to the same email address as well. At some point last year they merged all of these and also merged player data and converted all those 'accounts' now into profiles for a main EA account. I know that EA's account merging hasn't been perfect because there have been some people who've experienced errors. Not to mention this new account system also prevented you from registering older games such as Mass Effect, the original Spore etc. They've been trying to add in the serial key formats for these games to the system so that you can register them to EADM and be done with the DRM without having to download the remove DRM patch. It's pretty much a mess,. A blanket ban on Bioware Social Forums would result in a ban of all EA games that are linked to Bioware social forums because it's a ban of that profile and the profile is linked to those games. It's ok if your games aren't digital. You do have the option to deauthorize your serial key from an account. I know it was there with Dragon Age: Origins and I have used it personally. If you have bought it retail and registered with EADM and you've been banned - then you're out of luck as well. I do believe he should be able to play other EA games, but not any EA game that uses the Bioware social forums. It's a stupid system and implementation was flawed.
  14. You can remove it though. Fortunately it's not a problem today thanks to buying games online. But this is a problem for older games and if you're trying to find games from years ago. People could have removed the stickers if they were keeping it in good condition for 10 years or so. I agree it's a problem with the media. But it can easily be changed. I'm going to go a little off here so bear with me. Actually the thing is people need to stop thinking that games reporting is journalism. No offence to those employed in it. But it is specialist reporting and consumer reporting. Not journalism. No one in the world has a life or death issue coming from the sales of games. Trying to equate gaming with mining is retarded. A consumer hobby report is similar to reading car magazines or yacht magazines. It isn't hard-hitting 'journalism'. I do honestly wish people stop confusing the two. If you really try to go with games news from the journalist angle you obviously will have fewer things to report. Things like games studies reports, cultural impact of gaming (not things like 'pink DSes are now popular' 40% of the DSes sold are pink. Report follows at 10pm). I think I was trying to say some of those points really. But being on an iPhone at work doesn't really help. I've got another gripe that I've just remembered. Just because gaming is catching on, please do not try to 'gamify' everything. I know some of those idiots from SF who've been going on about the whole Gamify thing. Their conference was the worst things I had the misfortune of attending. Some of the things they said made me cringe (it was just an hour long presentation as part of a whole day of conferences). At least the ARG crowd understands to an extent how to incorporate gaming elements.
  15. Ok I can't do that lol. I can roll it along the length and fold back like a flap. But not like the video.
  16. I know, which is kind of a shame. It had it's flaws but you're right. Ff13 left a sour taste for some. Not to mention the game didn't play like a conventional rpg and people took offence at his ugliness and of course Kaine. Loved the side quest banter and status messages it put up when you fished and stuff.
  17. Very true about how absurd it can be. For instance just look up Alan Scott's new green lantern costume. It's on par with electron blue supes. As for keeping oneself updated, it's like everything really. Soaps, games, films, drama and even local news sometimes. It seems trivial except for the last one. Truth is we need entertainment outside our personal living dramas.
  18. I saw a video about the music for the game. Pretty neat tracks and more experimentation. I'll try posting a link when I'm at a desk and not on the phone.
  19. Speaking of randomness have you guys read the old novel Flatland. Mostly to speak of dimensions. Or have you read gk chesterton's man who was Thursday? Though TN probably should've read that . While the principles are for anarchy. Disorder and randomness in an open state can be studied from it. Regardless it's humorous.
  20. Other M Forget the story. The game was classic metroid. Btw I hated prime. Nier. Shmup in action game form mostly. Voice acting was great. I never finished too human. Didn't seem godawful but I only paid £4 for it.
  21. Inf blade iPhone Crush psp Hopefully neptunia this weekend if I have time.
  22. That analogy with superman doesn't fit . That's a brawn vs brain thing. It's not absurd in the real world that a smart weakling( though I never can see lex as phys weak. ) is jealous of a stronger athletic type and vice versa. Plot point of majority of teen movies.
  23. People who leave sticker gum from pricetags on the gamebox. Bad trolling. Not successful trolling or good trolling but really utterly terrible trolling. Entitlement of the wrong kind. E.g. Cracking a console or game and then expecting to play online. It's an either or. This is my biggest gripe. Forming an opinion without trying something. It's as absurd as saying a city doesn't exist because I've never been there. Generalising. All the trees in a forest aren't the same. Sometimes not even 50%. Falling for advertising and then blaming the product. Adverts are just doing their function. Exceptions for terrible ads. Celebculture for devs and pubs and elevating them to god status. Culture-bashing on both western and eastern sides.
  24. Agreed that being religious and being a scientist aren't mutually exclusive. However more Mathematicians and Physicists particularly the popular ones do tend to lean towards atheism in the current era. Not all scientists of course, just more in those two categories. Chemists (based on personal encounter, so this isn't the truth but rather from my sampleset) rarely tend to be deeply irreligious. It was different in Renaissance era. I mean Newton's even got papers saying how the world will end in 2060 and that it will be the Kingdom of God after that period.
