  1. Holy shit, I'm watching the newest episode of Pre-Rec about The Order and they basically just spoiled what I assume is the core of the plot. And holy fucking christ, it's the stupidest goddamn bullshit I've ever heard. Is the game seriously about I mean, I... I don't even know what to say here. It just sounds so fucking stupid, like a premise someone would come up with as a joke. Yet somehow this got made as a AAA PS4 exclusive with a heavy focus on story and presentation???
  2. So, uh... I don't even...
  3. I'd much rather buy new instruments than having to rebuy DLC, and it sounds like they're transferring the DLC so that's awesome. It'll be cool if my old instruments are compatible, but if the new versions have functionalities that my old ones don't, then I'll probably want to upgrade anyway.
  4. On an unrelated note, where is the "ignore member" button? I can't seem to find it...
  5. Even a broken clock is right twice a day. Anyway, that Wolfenstein DLC looks great! I'm generally not crazy about stuff being standalone but whatever, not a big deal.
  6. Yeah, I was hoping for day and date but I was expecting a lot worse than 2 weeks. Rising was almost an entire year late. Ground Zeroes was 9 months late. 2 weeks is a pretty small gap by comparison. That two weeks is gonna be hell, though. Gonna have to stay off the internet because you just know spoilers are gonna be all over the goddamn place.
  7. I actually got that Rise trophy without even trying. Kinda makes me feel like I have to go for the Platinum at some point, considering how much of a hard time it seems to give other people . lol
  8. My old PC sometimes went through periods of time where it would bluescreen often, usually when I was gaming on it a lot. But that was caused by hardware issues. I haven't had a regular "Windows just kinda crashed" bluescreen in a very long time.
  9. Holy shit, when was the last time you actually used a Windows PC? I haven't been interrupted or prompted for Windows Updates in fucking forever. Occasionally, I'll see a "now configuring updates" notice when I reboot or shut down my PC, that's about it. On topic: Contrast. Oh man, this game is great. I enjoyed it so much that I ended up playing through the entire thing without really intending to. Other than the neat mechanical twist, it's a fairly standard platformer. But everything else about it is just so damn good! The visual style, art design and the music all have this great noir-ish style to them, the characters were just likeable enough for me to be invested in the story and it had this cool little sci-fi twist to it that I didn't really expect. I loved it! I'm glad I waited, though. It's clearly been patched up because I heard it was pretty buggy at launch and that no longer seems to be the case. It has a great atmosphere but I can easily see how technical issues might've completely ruined the experience.
  10. After a few too many accidental spoilers, I got fed up and said "fuck it" a while ago. Following guides became stricly a second playthrough thing, first time through I just play howevever I feel like and enjoy the story. I also try not to worry about achievements too much on a first run. I'll check to see if there's any important missable stuff I need to be on the lookout for but if I have to do a second playthrough anyway then I won't bother with it until it's time to do just that. That being said, there is one thing I strongly advise you follow a guide for in regards to P4G. I'll spoiler it just in case you don't want to know but there won't be any actual story spoilers. back on topic: Just gave Raid mode a try in RE: Revelations 2. Goddamn, that shit is insanely fun and addictive! I'm really glad I went for the complete package because now I get to play it as Wesker! Also, I kinda love how they lifted some maps straight outta RE6. So far, the main campaign is pretty limited in terms of locations and a lack of map variety could've really hurt the longevity of that kind of mode.
  11. So if I hook up my PS3 to my PC monitor and then use a keyboard and mouse with it, that's basically PC gaming, right? Like, I've eliminated all the drawbacks of using a console?
  12. Oh, I had heard about a fan mod but not about an official patch. It's looking more and more like it was a completely arbitrary decision. I mean, I don't really get the appeal of same-screen co-op on PC so I never really give it any thought and just kind of assume it's not in there. But that was a fast turnaround. The refunds thing is probably just the usual case of the left hand not talking to the right hand. Capcom can sometimes reach Square-Enix-esque levels of "wtf are you guys even doing?!".
  13. Looks like someone at IGN screwed up big time and let the cat out of the bag a day early. It's great to finally have a date but goddamn I was hoping the June rumors were true. Now we just need those system requirements and confirmation that it's a simultaneous release for all platforms, including PC!
  14. No idea on the co-op side, sorry. Online co-op won't be implemented until after all episodes are out, I believe. And there's also been some controversy over Capcom only disclosing at the very last minute (like literally a day before launch) that the PC version won't support offline co-op. I don't really do co-op in my Resident Evil, anyway, so that's kind of a non-issue for me. As for the combat, it's kind of its own thing but it feels closer to RE6 to me.
  15. Goddamn, that took way longer than I thought it would. If it wasn't for the TOVG Podcast, I'd have gone insane from all the repetitive grinding and farming. I pretty much burned through the entire backlog of 30+ episodes in a single week. It's almost 5 years later and on a different platform but I finally fucking did it! Now I can finally move on to FFXIII-2!
  16. Resident Evil Revelations 2 - Episode One. I wasn't sure if I should wait until I've played all eps or just do a small post for each one but fuck it. Finished the first ep last night, overall it was alright. The story is a bit meh so far but there's still three episodes for it to pick up. Other than that, it controls a bit more like RE6 than I'd like (i.e. fast and floaty) and my god does it look like shit. It's very much a budget title, if the price point wasn't already a dead giveaway. But if you like RE and you've stuck with the series for this long, then it's kind of a no-brainer. Especially if you go for the base 25$ package. I skipped Raid mode in the first Revelations but, considering I went for the 40$ complete bundle with all the DLC and bonus characters, I really should give it a proper shot this time.
  17. Well, my expectations going in aren't exactly super high. I heard it's very rough around the edges (though like Jack said, it's apparently been patched). But even at launch, George Weidman of SuperBunnyHop was very positive about it, and that guy has been my go-to reviewer for over a year now. So, him liking it kinda makes me feel like I need to give it a shot.
  18. Oh, let me know how it is! I was super intrigued by it before its release but then it came out and I just kinda forgot about it. also I really shouldn't be buying anything else at this point but I was recently reminded of this game and that I had heard good things about it when it first came out. It was like 3 bucks on GMG, so whatever.
  19. One more, because fuck yes! Hotline Miami 2! Grabbed the Special Edition, gotta have that soundtrack. That should be my last purchase for a while, I can't really think of anything else coming out this month that I'm interested in. Unless I'm forgetting something...
  20. Damn, that's a pretty insane line-up. I wonder if Titan Souls is a simultaneous release with PC, I've really been looking forward to that one. Really bummed out that Axiom Verge PC is coming months later. Also, pretty stoked to finally have a release date for Hotline Miami 2! Pre-ordering it as soon as I get home.
  21. I was planning to wait as well but I caved in at the last minute. Which might have been a slight mistake because I had completely forgotten that I pre-ordered the Oddworld remake, which also came out today, and I'm still kinda hooked on FFXIII. Turns out listening to podcasts while grinding makes it a surprisingly enjoyable experience. So yeah, I didn't exactly need an extra game to play just yet lol. Speaking of which: There Came An Echo was already on my radar and I knew it was made by a NeoGAF member, but turns out the guy is actually a crazy bastard. Dude essentially gifted a copy to the entire fucking forum. Really awesome move on his part but I hope it won't hurt his sales too much. As for the other three games, I also grabbed the current IndieGala bundle. Those are usually complete garbage, so this one actually having three games I really wanted was pretty surprising. There was also a bunch of other crap I never even heard of. At some point I'm gonna have to go through my Steam library and put all of those in a "bundle garbage" category so that I can just forget about them. I suspect that a lot of games will end up in there...
  22. Reviews for the first episode seem to be mostly on the positive side. So, being a Resident Evil fanboy, that's all I needed to pull the trigger. I got the full 40$ pack, which is all the episodes plus a bunch of bonus shit. There's a 25% voucher on GMG if anyone else is interested in getting it. Really wish I could stay up late to download and give it a shot but I have class in the morning.
  23. It makes for a weird scale but it can't be helped, that's just the nature of evaluating software. It's too complex as a product to judge it based solely on its quality as a piece of entertainment. You can still watch a shoddily-made movie but a fundamentally broken game can be an incredibly frustrating experience, regardless of how good it actually is as a game. Worst case scenario, it simply doesn't work properly or straight up refuses to launch. That definitely needs to factor into the score in some way. I guess one way to go about it could be to separate them and have two scores, perhaps each on a 5 points scale. One for the technical quality and the other for its quality as a game. But would that really make a difference? I mean, I'd expect people/metacritic would just add the two and consider it the overall score.
  24. Oh, well the part where it "opens up" is like 30 hours in. So yeah, if it feels like a chore getting there don't bother. It's not like it makes the game magically awesome all of a sudden. XIII is a terrible introduction to the Final Fantasy series, btw. If you have a PS3 or a Vita, I strongly recommend checking out the FFX HD Remaster if you wanna give the series another shot. It's more of a traditional FF and, imho, just straight up better than XIII in every possible way.
