  1. Exactly, there's no pleasing everyone. You should read some of the comments on finalfantasyforums.net, now granted they're mostly all European teenagers, but still, there's no pleasing them. The only Final Fantasy I'd say is not good, would be II, as there was a lot of things broken about that game, somethings have been fixed in various re-releases but it's still hard to play. There's other games I don't like but that's all personal preferences. Final Fantasy fans seem to mix up their opinions with facts. This is a dangerous mindset to take. There is always a happy medium between two extremes. You can't say that people hated FF12's big world (I actually do not recall ever hearing this) And say that Square's only alternative to this was remove all towns, and cramp up the entire game. No product out there can ever made everybody happy, what you should shoot for, is to keep improving though. And FF13 was NOT an improvement.
  2. Was my the mrs. and I's 4th wedding anniversary day on the 7th, uploaded a wedding pic in the smooth section.

  3. I just find that its hard to kill guys who are rolling and jumping. Uncharted 2 had the same problem when people jumped back and forth. I cannot for the life of me understand WHY they decided to change how Nate moves. Uncharted 2 was so fluid, and Uncharted 3 feels so robotic.
  4. After checking about 10 stores looking for Zelda: Ocarina of Time 3D, I finaly found it at Zellers, and they had like 15 copies.

  5. Welcome to PXOD! cookies and pie are always welcome. And I wouldn't say no to a haircut.
  6. Really hard to pick a favorite between 6 and 7. Both were excellent. As were 4,5,8 and 12.
  7. I did this. I built a Legend of Zelda bed, but alas I've had bad luck uploading pictures. http:// http://i52.tinypic.com/6yk5qf.jpg
  8. Hard to just pick 9. Runners up would be: Final Fantasy 8 Parasite Eve River City Ransom Metal Gear Solid 1-4 Infamous 1 & 2 Super Mario 3
  9. Your list is pure awesome! Agree with almost all of them.
  10. Saw Transformers 3, actually pretty good.

My favorite part was when the lesson was that Arabs are bad, mmkay?

      P4: Gritty Reboot

Glad you liked it. I'll probably check it out eventually.

  11. I actually am not liking the beta. Hit detection is WAY off, you can unload a full clip on a guy not 15 feet away, and if he's even slightly moving, you'll have a hard time hitting him. They need better auto aim. Try to team kill someone in Halo 3 with the Battle Rifle, and you'll see what I'm talking about. Also, moving feels really slow and clunky, not at all fluid like Drake in Uncharted 2. Since I doubt these are things they will be be fixing, I doubt I'll be playing much of the multiplayer when U3 hits.
  12. You would be wise to never disagree with the moogle!
  13. Having said that, I completely agree with everything else you're saying about designer's sticking to traditional controls and button layouts because that's what veteran gamers are comfortable with. It harks back to the original point of this thread, in that what gamers (think they) want, and are used to is not necessarily what is best for the game. We assume that the typical controller set up (which varies little within a single genre) is the optimal set up because we are conditioned to and used to using that layout. In reality, sticking rigidly to what we know simply stifles creativity and prevents us from seeing how improvements might be made. I'd much rather step outside my comfort zone and have to relearn how to use a controller than miss out on a potentially great game. It has nothing to do with sticking with the past. I like all sorts of new control schemes. The problem with PH's controls weren't that they weren't traditional, it was that they didn't work for me. Not to mention, they forced the makers to put almost no enemies in the game. There were temples with something like 10 regular baddies in it. (Or so my friend said)
  14. ARG! I couldn't connect to the U3 beta last night.

They've since patched it. Should be working better, but co-op arena still has game-breaking bugs.

I'll be on late hopefully (around midnight GMT)

  15. I always think of it as: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Slag_(slang) "to describe an individual who engages in casual sex and promiscuous behaviour." Yikes! Yeah, that's definitely not me. Happily married now, it'll be 4 years this July. Funny how the same word can mean completely different things in different cultures.
  16. I saw him argue with a guy and spout some things like "stupid" and other terms that don't make for a good argument. The fact he was warned each time, banned numberous times, and still came back for more really made me wonder what went through his mind that made him want to be heard again. I picture the stereotypical guy behind a computer who has no friends, as no one can stand him, but still was lonely in his arrogant state. We all make our own fates when it comes to making friends. He just seems to have a self-destructive personality, IMO. yeah, I remember getting into a few "debates" with him about stuff like that. The one that I remember most, was him knocking the controls in Infamous. I nearly shat a brick.
  17. Because Slagathore was taken. And Slag is the molten metal run off when welding two pieces of metal together. I think it sounds cool.
  18. Everyone is a phenomenal actor on that show. Other fantasy series should look at Game of Thrones as how to do casting right. Cough* Legend of the Seeker.
  19. I just felt Prototype was a lot more fun to actually play. The movement and combat were much more fluid and 'actiony' whereas inFAMOUS was more like a reskinned third-person-shooter. Though the actual substance/story was rubbish compared to inFAMOUS (not that that reached any great heights). The energy-draining thing in inFAMOUS really bugs me and it ruins the flow sometimes. Plus, it took too long to hand you a decent set of powers and you spend forever zap-zap-zap-zap-zapping people. Fortunately, the second game fixes a lot of these gameplay issues but I've still found it even buggier than more recent BioWare releases (not as bad as Gamebryo Engine creations though). Although, you did bring up Assassin's Creed which is relevant as I think the most important point is that each of these games work in their own context. Climbing in AC is generally very methodical, in Prototype you're zipping all over the place, and for inFAMOUS you're just mashing X to find a decent vantage point to attack from. Hot Heart, did you SERIOUSLY just knock Infamous's controls? I've never in my life, played a game with better controls. Cole turned on a dime, stopped instantly, and you can drop 500 feet and easily land on a lamp post. They were absolutely perfect.
  20. Frosted I'm calling his opinion bullshit because he's flat-out blaming the player for the controls not working well for them. I felt that was disrespectful towards Slagathorian and everyone else who dislikes the controls. It's the job of the game developers to make the game enjoyable, not the people playing the game. Again, this. Its Nintendo's job to create controls that people like, its not our job as players to like every control scheme that is thrown at us. I think its funny that the very first comment in this thread specifies: And before anyone says it, the touch only controls worked JUST FINE. To me that was a weird piece of literature to include, when one is trying to make the argument that the touch only controls weren't a problem. Clearly enough people DID think they were a problem. The fact that we are all here having this discussion is proof that the controls were in fact a problem. Nobody is having problems with the controls in any of the other top down Zelda's. I cannot for the life of me reconcile in my mind WHY Nintendo didn't include both options of control, ala Dragon Quest 9. And speaking of DQ 9, I'm curious if anybody here played that game with the stylus, or with the D-pad and buttons.
  21. I'd hate to know what kind of movies you enjoy. Probably Dude Where's my Car.
  22. Uhhhh..... .. .... .. .. ............. .. ... What? Not only was that a long time ago, but thats just not a very good movie. Did you watch the regular or super extended version? Neither is better than the other, im just curious. Are you kidding? Fantastic acting by just about everything, amazing set pieces and cinamtography, and probably the most compelling story of all time. A 25 year old visionary, who brought the known world to its knee's.
