  1. New account means one more vote! Skew the results! Woot!
  2. Probably better to wait for the ultimate edition which launches soon.
  3. This Superbowl matchup sucks. Only two months until MLB spring training...

Ugh, this is the worst sports time of the year. Two months of suckage.

True. I do enjoy the general managing of Teddy, player. And Lucha Libre always makes me laugh.

  4. Yeah, probably because people say "don't point your finger at me" a lot or something similar. and because over here you never point at anything with your middle finger unless you really mean it.
  5. Well, I feel prophetic now. Anyway, I guess one question got answered. Also, I missed that little disclaimer Eiji Aonuma made about the timeline but I take that as small validation that the timeline was never a primary concern for the creators.
  6. http://www.spike.com/video-clips/skk850/amendment-to-be Obligitory response for the Just a Bill song.
  7. Finally finished Skyward Sword. Batman AC is up next on my list.
  8. I liked MOH okay. It was actually better than I thought it would be.
  9. 3DS also included 1.5GB of storage and a 2GB SD card in the box so theres that...
  10. http://www.destructoid.com/ps-vita-3g-teardown-puts-sony-s-cost-at-159-220036.phtml Hmmm, $159 for parts? Starting to sound like a repeat of the 3DS. I cancelled my preorder after learning just how expensive the memory cards were going to be. If you want a 16GB card and the system together you're talking about a minimum entry of $310 and that's just more than I wanted to pay. I can't help but think that sales are going to be slow until a price cut. I also can't help but wonder if that's just the strategy now. PS3 has almost caught up to Xbox in global sales so the initial $600 systems didn't really hurt them long term it seems. Why not gouge for a few months?
  11. Screw MLB 12 the show. The Rangers have been to two WS now and had the MVP last year and still no cover athlete.

ANYthing but a Red Sox player. I love Massachusetts but I hate the Sox.

Yes, it's clearly another cash grab. They think by having a Red Sock on the box they'll sell more.

Yeah it's just business. Put a Yank or a red sux player on there and sell copies.

  12. yeah, mostly either colleges, "Longhorn, Aggie and Red Raider" or religions than nationalities. We don't see much difference between anyone in the UK.
  13. Well, TN has a point. In Texas we have the lottery which "supports education". Well, it does and it doesn't. Education has a budget and that money is either funded by taxes (mostly property taxes) or by other funds. Well, what they do is "deduct" the revenues from the lottery from the education taxes and then move that money somewhere else, who knows where, so technically the money from the lottery goes to education but that actual amount of money being spent on education hasn't increased at all as a result. This probably happens with many other systems like gas taxes and such. My only point is just because someone says that money goes somewhere doesn't mean it's really going there. Greater transparency is part of the problem but uninformed masses are also a large part of the problem.
  14. Man, that story just seems like one of the tiniest violins in the world. I think the most amusing part of the story to me is how she wants a career in museums. That sounds like an extremely limited profession and one that you'd probably be holding out on for quite some time. Wouldn't you get a temporary job whilest trying to get into your chosen career? Are things so bad in the UK that you can't find any work right now? Right out of college I took a job working at Office Depot while trying to get my first engineering job.
  15. My daughter loves watching Kipper on Netflix all the time. It's mostly my fault as I put it on a lot because it's the least annoying of her kids shows. They say "ready, steady go" a lot in that show. Is that common in the UK? Here it's always been "ready set go". My daughter trys correcting my wife now when she says "ready set go". Also it's been funny because my wife knows very little about english (UK) so she's confused by other things they say on there and on IT Crowd.
  16. People pronounce porche as "porsh" so much that there's a blonde joke about painting a "porch" and the blonde comes back and says "I'm done painting it and it's a Ferrari, not a Prosche". Also, adding R's onto words is funny to me too. Dean, what's your obsession with wingardium leviosa?
  17. The parts that feel like padding are when you have to go down and fetch the pinwheel or when you have to go back and get the basin to pour water on the frog to enter the temple. There's no reason why I should have to go do these fetch quests, it's just pointless backtracking. The silent realms are also kind of dumb. You wander around the same area you've alredy wandered all over a few times only you don't use any equpment or fight anyone. The "stealth" portion though, finding the fire dragon, is probably the first time in the game that I actually thought "arg, I don't want to do this". I'd like to put an * on my rants. I think a lot of my tired grumpy gamer speech is based on my being old and not having tons of time to play games. It's seriously taken me the better part of 2 months to put in 32 hours to this game and I've got other games like Batman that I'm ready to move on and play. That's probably why I'm so annoyed by padding.
  18. So now that the game has been out a while can anyone tell me if the leveling system differs much from Oblivion? I had troulbe in Oblivion becuase I didn't level up properly and the enemies ended up being way to strong and I finally got frustrated and quit.
  19. I finally swore off creative products. My MP3 player and headphones died and their customer service was awful. They wouldn't even talk to you if you are out of warranty without wanting money. Oh, and they don't service their own products, even if you're willing to pay.
  20. I've been playing this for the last month or so and I've got over 32 hours logged. I'm currently on the second section of the "song of heroes". I really enjoy the game but all the backtracking and random collecting quests really have me losing interest. Seems like Nintendo wasn't satisfied with the padding treatment they gave Wind Waker and have really outdone themselves on this one. It's strange too because there is a ton of great stuff in here. The padding is totally unnecessary. Also, I failed the part where you play the harp in the giant pumpkin like 5 times and finally gave up. Stupid harp.
  21. Another point I was happy that the articles pointed out is how MW3 got criticized harshly for bing linear but Uncharted 3 didn't really (something Eurogamer did though). I find it funny that some people love MW3 and hate Uncharted 3 and vice versa without realizing just how similar they can be. I know they're very different games in terms of story characters setting, etc. They are also extremely linear shooters which don't do anything particularly special outside of being the best over-the-top cinematic experience. This is a good reason. I'll go with this as my official reason.
  22. Just playing Pheonix Wright for the first time. That game is funny.

where can you get them that cheap? They're $40+ on amazon used and gamestop doesn't sell them online or have them in stock anywhere locally.

Ask GameStop if they can call some in for you. I know I saw a few at my friend's store down here just a few weeks ago.

I'll do that. Thanks for the tip.

  23. Well, film critics still mostly all use some sort of scoring system. Also, film doesn't usually have a component of functionality in the way a game has. You usually don't ask if the film actually works like you do with a videogame. I think that whole component is what makes game reviews more complex than just a simple critique. Epic Mickey got dinged on reviews for it's dreadful camera system. Uncharted 3 got dinged for being linear. One is a critique while the other is more of a review or report.
  24. Sorry, Subjective is what I meant. You are right. Part 3 just hit. http://www.giantbomb.com/news/on-games-reviews-and-criticism-part-3/3918/
  25. Yeah, I think that's the part the articles have brushed upon but haven't really been getting into too deep. I think there's really two different things between "Is this game functional?" and "Is this game enjoyable?" and the second question is far more subjective. Reviews kind of mash the objective part and the less objective parts into one big mess and slap a number on it.
