  1. It's still pretty exciting, as they've shaken up the show's version of events just enough to keep me guessing.
  2. Anyone see Prometheus yet?

Not bad, despite some "issues". Still, better than most modern movies, in my opinion.

I've seen a few reviews that didn't sound too promising. =/

Whatever, HH. I could watch a closeup of Fassbender & Charlize's faces for 2 hours and be satisfied.

  3. Picked up a mid-range disc to try & tackle Chavez Ridge disc golf course tomorrow. Supposed to have a nice little view of downtown LA and Dodger Stadium. We shall see.
  4. It's an indication of my old age and parenthood that I'm excited for this http://beefjack.com/news/lego-the-lord-of-the-rings-unveiled-trailer-is-brick-tastic/

Really hoping they don't keep the voices.

  5. Agreed, sporky. A good range of games, and all of them well-known and quality.
  6. New Humble Bundle is awesome. http://www.humblebundle.com/ Sword & Sorcery, Limbo, Psychonauts, Amnesia, and Bastion when you pay over the average. WAAAT
  7. Freebie from Ellie Goulding http://soundcloud.com/elliegoulding/ellie-goulding-high-for-this
  8. I like to believe the term "deep-six" was passed down and protected through the ages for the sole purpose of making this pun possible.
  9. Meh. I wish the hexagonal trend in gaming had gotten deep-sixed long ago.
  10. If any Brits see P R O M E T H E U S this weekend, please post your un-spoilery thoughts (hopefully in this thread).
  11. I saw The Vow with my wife. A chick flick so bad, even she (the target demographic) didn't like it.
  12. I don't really have a point lol. I'm agreeing with you that the wildfire is, to a significant degree, magic. Edit: Here's what GRRM said about it, for what it's worth:
  13. @FDS Yeah, I'm aware. But the concept of a wall built to keep out invaders is pulled from the real world and made bigger and more magical, just like the wildfire. @W&S Around ADWD chapter 50, any remaining AFFC story lines are winding down.
  14. Seems to me that it's tinged with magical properties but clearly based on Greek fire. Martin's fantastical worlds tend to take the real and simply exaggerate it. The Wall is based on the Roman wall in England, just 100x as big and made of ice, etc.
  15. Finally have a moment to hack out a few thoughts on last night's episode, S2E9 Blackwater. This one was all about King's Landing and the titular battle. We didn't check in with Snow, Arya, Dany, Robb, Catelyn, Jaime, Littlefinger, or Theon at all. That really worked to the narrative's advantage though, as we got alternating scenes out on the walls in the thick of the fight and inside the holdfast where the women and children were hiding. Sansa & Cersei's interaction was a welcome respite from the chaos out in the night; they were an unexpected highlight of the episode. Next part will spoil through A Clash of Kings and Season 2: Episode 9. I expect next week's to catch us up on all the aforementioned characters' story lines, especially Dany and the House of the Undying. We'll see where that leaves us for Season 3. Here's the preview:
  16. I am guessing AFFC and ADWD will be seriously condensed from the book format, as there is a lot more world-building and a lot fewer events than in the first three books.
  17. Good does not begin to describe it. More thoughts later.
  18. Welp, Blackwater tonight. Very interested to see how well they pull it off.
