My wife likes to play, she's not really down with the dual thumbstick motion of modern fps and other games though. She once bought the Brothers In Arms game for her PS2 when we were dating, but couldn't get into it because of the controls. She's pretty good at Soul Calibur, mains Xainghua and is pretty good with her.
She's the Zelda player of the family, I've barely touched Twilight Princess, and that was my first Zelda game. We have LTTP and OoT on VC for her, and like I said in the Christmas thread, she got DKCR, but we haven't had a chance to play it together yet.
I picked that it doesn't really matter, because it was the closest fit, but I'd have to add the caveat that she doesn't like / care for it but doesn't nag me about playing. If she thinks they are a waste of time and nags me because I'm not spending enough time with her, well obviously there's something wrong with the relationship if I'd rather play a game than spend time with her, or she's just overly needy. Either way, that's a large red flag.
I'm a bit of a hopeless romantic and think that almost everything can be overcome in a good relationship... like the fact that my wife and I seemed like polar opposites in the "things that matter" when we started dating.
edit: well holy crap, somehow I missed the fact there's like 4 pages of discussion. oh well.
my wife does that with some games. Like Uncharted, Overlord, Fallout, she watches for the story, and in the more choice given games, to not be a dick.
It's a lot like

and at the multiple tv discussion, I should nab a picture of my brother and sister in law's set up, its freaking awesome. He made the stand himself, and its a 46" and a 32" underneath it (or vice versa I forget), with one console hooked up to each tv, and the dvr to one as well, so he can play a game while she watches tv or a movie.
