An article entailing all of Kotakuness. Someone in the comments made a remark about Dean being unstarred being a stupid decision since he has contributed more to Kotaku than 85% of the other commenters put together. So a flood of people agreed with said commenter. So Crecente banned him. tl;dr: Crecente: They can't like you more than me if you're dead.

Active topics are threads that have had new posts in the last 24 hours or "today." Not sure which. New content is any thread that has unread posts since your last visit. Active topics are almost the same as in the old forum. New content starts over if you log off and on in quick succession.
