Seems everyone is doing it these days. I'm unsure how they're doing it though. They seem a bit muddled if they're doing their own tablet, partnering with another tablet maker, or having a kind of "Gamestop platform" sort of like the amazon market n just selling tablets in-store. Their recent purchase of the streaming company Spawn Labs (the one that got them in bother when they took out Onlive codes from DX:HR) is playing a large part in this.

Because they're Gamestop. They want their fingers in all the pies. That's why you've got Gamestop branded controllers, a Gamestop games magazine and used games days after their release for a discount. They'll sell some tablets. I doubt they'd sell enough to make it worthwhile but when they're advertising them in store (and likely undercutting the competition while they're at it), some people will pick it up just as they're browsing.

Well, we don't have Gamestop's here in England but I can say with some amount of certainty that if one of the UK game chains such as GAME were to release a tablet, it'd tank. I could be proven wrong but I just don't see what Gamestop are going to get out of this.

They're hoping their game streaming service will take off due to this device. Other tablets are pricy for the most part so they are likely going to price it low to draw in those who might want this service on a tablet. Anyways I think it's a bad move. OnLive started on PC and then spread. That worked well for them. This tablet seems to be a much larger risk.
