Saints Row: The Third

I noticed this didn't have a topic, but I got this and just started playing it this morning.

And oh god it's amazing. The combat feels really fluid, and transitioning from melee to gunplay feels really nice. By far the best gun mechanics I've encountered in a 3rd person fuckshitup sandbox type of game. Perhaps that's because of Volition's Red Faction experience, but either way the combat far outperforms GTAIV or Just Cause 2.

And unlike SR2, the PC port is really, really good. Running on my 560Ti and 2500K I can get it to about 120FPS on 1080p on ultra. Yeah, there are some not so good textures, but as a whole the game looks really nice, especially in the lighting and explosion effects. And the explosions better look good, there's a lot of them.

But really, just good, dumb (really dumb) fun. If you liked San Andreas or either of the Just Cause games, this might actually be better.

And if anyone is on PC I'd be down for some coop.

Oh god, don't remind me. I've really wanted a balls-to-the-wall insane sandbox game for a long time and this is exactly what I was looking for. Too bad I have absolutely no time or money to play it and I have other games that are higher on my priority list (Skyrim being one), but MAN do I really want to play this one.

Yeah, I preordered from GMG for $30 a few weeks ago. Totally worth that price, I do not regret it.

As far as it continuing the SR1 and SR2 story, I would still recommend this one if you haven't played the others. I've only played Saints Row 2, and this one doesn't really continue the story at all, and really is better in every single way.
