deanb
I can't be the only one on here that watches this? Anywho for those that don't the basic premise is the evil queen casts a curse upon the fairytale land that transfers them to our world, where there's no happy endings and most of them don't remember who they are. It does start off kind of slow mind, I got into it because I caught snippets mid-series onwards of my mum watching it. Henry is pretty damn annoying too but he quickly becomes less important as time goes on. A lot of the fun is seeing the new twists in old tales, and working out who was who within the story. TheMightyEthan
I asked you on Twitter, but I don't think you ever really answered: Does it get better? My wife and I watched the first two episodes when it started airing but then lost interest.
deanb
Yeah I answered(though some time ago, so can't find the tweet itself). It's from that that question that part of my post is aimed at: It does start off kind of slow mind, I got into it because I caught snippets mid-series onwards of my mum watching it. Henry is pretty damn annoying too but he quickly becomes less important as time goes on. Seems I removed a chunk of what I originally wrote too: Once in the current world Henry, the adopted son of the Mayor, has a book called "Once Upon a Time" which chronicles the pre-Storybrooke lives of the fairytale characters which he works out is real. He then goes and finds his biological mother*, who unbeknown to her is from the fairytale land and the one destined to break the curse over Storybrooke/Fairytale land. It's worth a look at the cast. Robert Carlyle is one of the main guys**, the original female doctor from House is Emma (bio-mum), the young pregnant lass(Claire) off Lost is in it too as Belle, Takezo Kensie/Adam from Heroes is the town doctor, and the reporter for the Storybrooke Mirror is known to some of you as Gustav "Gus" Fring. Probably a bunch of others you may or may not recognise too. Oh there's a neat thing with the title cards too, they change each show, so there's different things in the forest: *it should be noted that there's a part that get's a bit iffy here, basically it pretty much dismisses the rights of the adopted parent in favour of telling a nice story. **And amazing. He's one of the few where his fairytale side and real world side are such different characters, compared to the likes of Charming where he's his name sake throughout. deanb
It kinda went slow again in series 2, but other nights episode (only got around to watching) got back all kinds of awesome since it capped the stuff they'd been heading towards with the filler episodes up until now. Henry (the kid) became a bit too prominent towards the latter half of the episode though when it was getting so nice to be able to ignore him. I don't think any of the viewers would blame Regina if she was to just obliterate her adopted son at this present moment in time. Especially as he's basically just destroying her from the inside under the guise of teaching her to be good. It's quite funny that the charachter that made her good (And thus in conflict with all we know of her from first series) is likely going to be the same one that pushes her back onto the path of evil, and with a vengance. Oh one thing I'm having to keep out of my mind is that now everyone knows who everyone is (as in their fairytale equivalent), the worst they've done with the Queen that placed the curse upon everyone is have a town meeting to decide what to do and then later not invite her to celebratory dinner. If someone cursed you to live out your life in Maine surely you'd do worse than that?
