deanb
So figured I'd post about this though I know it's probably gonna have semi-minimal appeal. Ethan seemed into their concept art at least (which sparked this post). http://thesignalfrom.com/about.html It's from the guys behind "Sir, You are being hunted" and they've certainly upped their game since. Meant to be quite heavily inspired by STALKER (which appeals to me, since I quite liked STALKER minus the horror elements). Also I quite like the pastel tones and robot designs they've got going on, and the weapons look so delightfully "pew-pew". Gameplay trailer sells it better: I liked the little vignettes they'd done a while back: https://twitter.com/BigRobotLtd/status/761160838346579969 Up on Steam http://store.steampowered.com/app/457760 and GOG: https://www.gog.com/game/the_signal_from_tolva And for Ethan:
deanb
Jim Rossignol did a write up of the development (from his perspective) of the game if you're wanting a read todayhttp://www.big-robot.com/2017/04/26/the-signal-from-rossignol-some-thoughts-on-the-development-of-the-signal-from-tolva/ I've given the game a spin. It matches pretty much what I expected, though the weird space-time escher-esque bases were a nifty surprise. It's quite a "slow" game, it's not frantic fast paced shooting, but quite deliberate shots. And the shooting is quite nice with the ping and fizzle of laser fire. I like that the fast travel is very lore friendly, you're essentially taking remote control of robot surveyors from a ship in orbit so your fast travel is just you changing to controlling a robot in a different area. You have "Detective Vision" (it's not called that, but I guess you'll understand what I mean from that) which is handy for spotting items to pick up as well as the weird distortions of the "artefacts" you're gathering. Given it was a unofficial demo I've not played much further than that, but it is certainly sticking in my wishlist. I kinda liked the laid-back ness of it.
